Bar staff on arrival and throughout our stay were helpful and friendly. Room was spacious. Lovely grounds. There wasn’t any hand soap in the room but once I asked for it, the waitress promptly supplied me with some.

The evening female manager wasn’t great. We had made a comment about the lack of taste to the chicken wings and her attitude towards us after she spoke to us wasn’t the best. She informed us at 10:20pm that last orders were being called so we had to buy drinks and take them to our room to finish. There isn’t anything around Cubley Hall. We had a short walk to Penistone which took around 25 minutes each way but if you want to explore anywhere else to eat or drink, it is a drive away.

we had our dinner with friends in the resturant and breakfast the following morning. All excellent, nice waitress very helpful and friendly. Room was newly decorated and tastefully done.

Nothing I could fault for the price, location and room. Only 1 potential problem for anyone who's not fully able bodied and that's the bath. it is a nice shower over the bath and lovely and new, however the bath is quite abit higher than is standard, so it's quite a step over and down onto the floor. so I would advise maybe another room... But that is the only vibe.

Overall a very pleasant stay for 4 nights out of the 5. Location was close to the station, comfy bedroom and bathroom. Polite & helpful staff, excellent food.

My door was left open by housekeeping while i was out for the day, not great at all for security of my possessions. Wi-Fi was very poor for business usage. My room was above the Blue Room and even though the bar closed at 22:00, one of the evenings I was kept awake by people in this room until 23:30. I had to get dressed and go and ask them to leave as this wasn't acceptable.

Charming old building in quiet country surroundings. Good value, the menu looks good although we had already booked dinner at a restaurant in Stocksbridge, but breakfast was exceptional, cooked to order, quality ingredients. Good pint of beer before we headed out, and reasonably priced. Staff very pleasant and helpful, needed an iron and board because I'd come straight from work, they were there within 5 mins with a smile! We are very likely to stay again when visiting family

Only 1 very slight criticism... the bar was shut by the time we got back... maybe not a bad thing, I don't need much encouragement to sit up late, drinking beer 😆

Room was quite small but had everything we needed. Bed very comfortable and room very quiet. We slept extremely well. Breakfast very good, freshly cooked, plenty of it and you can make toast and tea/coffee at a little table in the conservatory. The location is very good and the views were absolutely stunning. Staff at breakfast were really helpful and pleasant.

Although it looks nice and authentic, I would have preferred mixer taps in the bathroom sink - the water was very hot! Very small niggle though!

Food was excellent. Particularly as it’s a traditional style accomodation, Cubley Hall is extremely proactively in catering for vegan diet, gluten free and any allergies - the restaurant provided an a la carte evening meal with zero fuss, at no extra cost. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. The staff were super helpful and took everything in their stride. The room was comfortable peaceful and a lovely view looking out over fields and meadows.

As we didnt have a car the only downside was we weren’t able to get a taxi into town in the evening at all, so with heavy rain that meant we instead chose to stay in the hotel, it was still a nice evening but a change of plan. Perhaps the hotel could look at coordinating with a local driver.

Facilities excellent, clean, staff courteous, excellent view. First night, and Saturday morning, very restful. Breakfast superb. Room was comfortable, although the bath was a bit high to get in an out of to use the shower.

Our stay clashing with a large wedding reception on the second evening of our stay, no parking, hostile attitude from the wedding attendees, kids running around the garden shouting after 10pm. Someone definitely smoking inside the building where the rooms were. Despite the overall excellence of the location, how we were treated by staff, and the great facilities, we would have not stayed had we known about the wedding in advance.

Absolutely beautiful location - exactly what you need if you are looking for a break from the city. Extremely peaceful surroundings and beautiful to wake up to! We were well looked after and the complimentary breakfast was an added bonus - freshly cooked breakfast each morning was fab!

The hotel is well located and easy to access. The staff were all welcoming, helpful and friendly. The room and bed were comfortable, with a good shower in the bathroom. We had dinner in the restaurant, the food was very tasty and great value. The breakfast offered a good range of choices and was plentiful and tasty. Throughout our stay all of the staff we encountered provided great service. We would recommend Cubley Hall Hotel without hesitation.

Thank you for hosting us on our recent visit to friends and family in Sheffield. We found the staff very friendly and welcoming and the accommodation clean and comfortable. We stayed for breakfast which was great and very generous. We met up with friends in the restaurant for dinner. Our friends really enjoyed their meals but unfortunately my wife’s and mine were a little disappointing. On the whole though, I would definitely recommend Cubley Hall to friends, and the setting in the Penistone countryside is super
