Historical building. Lovely courtyard. Rooms spotlessly clean, bed very comfortable and very quiet given its proximity to the very busy A61. Great location. Great value for money.

The information in the room stated breakfast was served until 10.00 am. We arrived at 9.45 am to be told it used to be 10.00 am but was now 9.45 am and the chef had finished so we missed out on a cooked breakfast and had to make do with what was left of the continental offering. Reception later advised breakfast is served until 10.00 am but 'last orders' are at 9.45 am which is completely understandable but the information in the room needs to be clearer.

The location of the hotel was perfect for us as we were attending a gig at Hillsborough Park, which is only around a 15 minute walk away. The price was super reasonable as well and they hadn’t hiked the prices like most other hotels had (a lower standard B&B close to the park wanted almost 3x what we paid here, for a room that did not even have a private bathroom)!! Ample car parking. Reasonably priced drinks in the bar, food was also good & great portion sizes. 12pm check out was nice as there’s nothing worse than being turfed out of a hotel at 10am! The room size was fine, everything worked correctly etc. Hotel is also next to a McDonald’s & Morrisons, with a KFC nearby as well as the tram line. The hotel has loads of character with it being an old army barracks which was really nice.

Nothing notable to add here really. Rooms are a tad dated if that bothers you but we weren’t fussed as barely spent any time in it. Guests slamming doors was a bit annoying but not the fault of the hotel, just inconsiderate guests which can’t be helped.

What a total surprise! We were starting to have reservations when we turned into what looked like a retail kind of park with McDonalds and Morrisons looming large but as soon as we turned into the car park it was like we had been transported to a completely different place. There was ample parking (albeit we mistakenly went into the disabled car park first as the signposting in the evening wasn't that clear) but once we made it around to the correct parking area, we could easily park our tall vehicle with signs up for the parking spaces that related to the neighbour businesses. We entered through the lounge bar and followed the signs round to reception - an interesting walk round the outside of the building and down some steps but this is actually part of the charm of the Garrison. For anyone with disabilities this route isn't needed as the disabled car park is by reception. The lady at reception was very helpful giving us all the information we needed about breakfast and how to use the coolest electricity key we have ever seen and our room was clean. warm and inviting with a really comfortable bed. We ate in the lounge bar and the food was EXCELLENT value for money. The quality of food was perfect and there was plenty of it (I couldn't eat all of mine because it was such a generous portion). Unfortunately, at about 12.30am we were woken by neighbours returning, using overly loud voices which continued for over half an hour. A quick call to reception about it and within a minute or two the night porter had found who was being loud, knocked on their door and managed to quiet them allowing us to get back to sleep. Sadly entitled people like these guests who think that just because they "paid for their room means we can be as loud as we like" appear in all hotels but the fact that reception dealt with it so quickly was the positive point here. Breakfast was ideal with a selection of toast, pastries and cooked foods.

It would be nice to see a couple more vegetarian options on the bar lounge menu - there were only two and with how tasty the food was more options would be a highlight :D

The room was good, evening meal in the bar was fine, and breakfast was grand. Free parking was good, and location for my work nearby was perfect.

I didn't get a window. As it happens it didn't bother me, but I think a few people would be perturbed by the fact that, being in a converted 18th Century barracks, some rooms are chalet-style buildings that have been squeezed up against the windowless stone walls. Which means the only daylight comes from the glass door through which you enter, with no other opportunity for windows. Added to this, my particular room was the one in the furthest corner under a staircase, which meant it was in permanent shade. As I say, it didn't bother me, and in winter might not be noticeable. But in the month with the longest days of the year, you might want to ask for one of the other rooms (no doubt more expensive) which have windows.

This hotel is a little unusual and has real character due to the nature of the original building. The room was large, well decorated and very comfortable. The fact that the rooms face outwards onto a courtyard rather than on to an internal corridor gives them an extra light and airy feel and help keep things quiet because you don't get the constant sound of people passing your door and other doors opening and closing all the time that you often get in hotels. The cooked breakfast was good and although the continental selection wasn't extensive it was more than adequate and the breakfast room was bright and spacious with no shortage of tables. There is plenty of car parking space although some of it is a fair walk from reception. Overall an enjoyable stay.

The route from the main car park to reception is up and down narrow stairs which, although not a problem for me, could be an issue for someone with mobility problems. This is largely due to the fact that this is an old historic building, but it also wasn't well signposted. Also when leaving I couldn't get out the way I came in because the bar doors were locked and I had to walk around the outside of the hotel. Again could have been better signposting to the car park.

The room was clean and comfortable. I liked the chalet type room as opposed to walking along corridors to get to the bedrooms. Breakfast was good although a little more choice of cooked breakfast might have been nice. A few biscuits to go with the tea/coffee making facilities might have been nice, although not that important. The staff were very pleasant and obliging although clearly very busy.

Nothing that I can think of except that the hotel was a bit sprawled out and I kept getting lost!! Also quite a lot of steps and stairs - ok for fit young soldiers marching up and down but not so good for the likes of me!!

Picked this hotel based on the pictures of the building with its history and uniqueness. The staff were very helpful and polite and would help you with anything. The room was comfortable and clean and warm and had everything for a short stay. Added bonus of a restaurant/pub on site which was helpful when time was tight. The greenery/landscaping leading up to the room in the inner courtyard is a credit to the gardener. The location was great for the Dog Track which was 5 minutes walk away, there was also a McDonald's very close with a supermarket over the road.

Breakfast,... didn't like is harsh, would prefer to say what could be improved...The cooked breakfast was tasty but a bit measly with the contents

Nice looking rooms and spacious, food was nice is the bar area.

Shower head was mouldy and the toilet rolls were already used, I always fetch a spare as I have a bowel condition so wasn’t an issue. The cleaner knocked and walked straight into my room at 10am, this was a genuine mistake but quite a shock when you was asleep and laid almost naked, luckily I put the chain on. Other than that it’s a great place and got everything close to it if needed.

Very cute. The courtyard makes you feel like you’re in a sort of secluded little world. Lovely staff, especially Sarah in the breakfast room. Great location. Breakfast is also excellent value for money. Everything fresh and tasty.

It was all good. Just to let anyone thinking of staying here know, there are a couple of little idiosyncrasies. The windows face the walkway between rooms, kind of like an American style motel, meaning it’s not super private from the staff and other guests. The Wi-Fi was a bit inconsistent. For the price, these are easy to look past. As I said, this is just to let others know what to expect.

Attractive accommodation - very pretty courtyard when lit up at night - almost feels as though you are abroad. All staff friendly and helpful.

Bit of a disaster at breakfast. Went over but the doors were locked. Popped to reception and were told too many people had gone for breakfast so they'd had to close for a bit as no more tables available. Got in about 20 minutes later, which put us behind schedule. There was only one staff member (who, to their credit, remained incredibly calm and collected throughout) taking / delivering the orders and clearing the tables and the kitchen was clearly getting behind as it took an hour to get our breakfast to us. Felt we could have done with a little more communication in this instance, but that was the only real down point to our stay.
