Had a lovely one night stay at the Pheasant in Gestingthorpe. Parking was at the rear of the building. Checked in by Reuben, who showed us to our amazing room in the modern annexe. The Captain Oates room was an excellent choice. It was very spacious with high ceilings and very well equipped with a separate sofa area and flat screen TV. The walk in shower and spa bath were a nice touch in the modern bathroom and everything was spotlessly clean. We decided to eat in the restaurant that evening. The pub itself is a really delightful old building with low ceilings and lots of character. We were served up three courses of amazing home cooked food. Again Reuben looked after us and was a credit to the venue, for somebody so young. Breakfast was again first class with what I would guess are locally sourced ingredients. As we have family nearby, we will definitely be returning to try one of the other rooms.

We loved the setting of the Coach House, which was completely separate to the pub, and overlooked an expanse of fields and countryside. Beautiful! Spotlessly clean, and every amenity you could wish for. We were offered a jug of fresh milk to keep in the room's fridge on arrival, which was perfect so we could make a cup of tea after our journey. A lovely warm welcome from Sue, our host. The Coach House was nicely heated and well lit, and plenty of off road parking next to the building too. Highly recommend! We ate in the Pheasant pub an evening meal, and breakfast the next morning. Both meals were sublime! Compliments to Sue and the chef - they are a great team :)

We arrived early and was able to check into our room at an additional fee of £25.00 per room. The lady who greeted us was very informative and friendly. We only had Bar food on the day we arrived as we were going to a Wedding but the food was delicious. Breakfast the following morning was plentiful and also very tasty. Once again the lady who served us was very friendly. The rooms were quite warm due to the exceptionally hot weather but there were fans provided. We also had fresh milk in the fridge with bottled water and tea and coffee making facilities in the room.

There wasn't anything we didn't like.

The room was decorated to the theme of the famous people who lived in the area. I stayed in captain oats who was a famous explorer and died in the antarctic. The food was fresh, delicious and locally sourced. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was very clean and had a beautiful view of the fields.

Nothing to complain about to be honest. Some might say there wasn't enough choice on the menu but what they do serve was exceptional.

Very comfortable room with lovely views across open fields. We arrived after the restaurant had closed and didn’t expect any food but as we were choosing crisps the lady realised my husband had come straight from work as he was in uniform and offered us a hot meal which we really appreciated. Fresh milk for tea in the room and a lovely breakfast.

No hot water for a shower after 9pm. in fairness we didn’t ask if it could be switched back on so may have been rectified had we done so. Towel rail in bathroom right next to toilet so risk of burning your legs on the pipes when you sat down!

We had a wonderful experience - we were attending a wedding at nearby Hedingham Castle so this place was in a great location, only 10 minute drive from the Castle. Our room was lovely, with breathtaking views over the countryside. Staff were friendly and engaging (especially Susan) who went out of her way to ensure we were able to get to and from the wedding as local taxis weren't available. Thanks so much for everything. We look foward to visiting again in the future.

The beautiful Constable room was compact with a very large, comfortable four poster bed. The view over the fields at the back of the coachhouse was stunning and it was so peaceful. Everything in the room and bathroom was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was delicious, with a good range of items in the full English. The staff, especially the young lady at breakfast, were very professional and friendly.

The large rain shower was excellent, though an extra directional spray attachment would be helpful.

Beautiful location for walks. The pub was really nice, served up delicious food at reasonable prices and the staff were some of the most friendly, welcoming people you will meet... The rooms were beautiful but there were a couple of little things that would be worth addressing. (See next box)

Jacuzzi bath was awesome but I personally would like a shower head in the bath too. It had a fancy waterfall tap in the sink that was too big for the sink so when you turned it on, you got soaked! Lastly, for the money, aircon would have been nice. They did supply a fan in the room but it was a particularly hot day/night so pretty uncomfortable.

Excellent location…wonderful views from our room. Great food, lovely welcome, lovely staff. The only reason I put an 8 was the unfortunate faulty fire alarm going off at 1.30.a.m.! No fire…nobody’s fault ….no real problem apart from a sleepless night. We shall certainly book again later this year.

A full nights sleep!

Location and size of bed and bedroom

The bathroom was clean and of good size; the shower was also of a good size. However the overall fitting out of the bathroom was a bit clinical flooring was of commercial grade and not very welcoming. Also the pub had a private party and were unable to give us a table for dinner. I wish they had communicated that before we arrived, they did recommend a pub just down the rd; however, they were fully booked and we had to hunt around. Not easy when you are in the words of our host; we, were in the sticks
