The suite of rooms was charming.... 16th century character! Good furnishings, meticulously clean and with an extremely comfortable big bed! Pure luxury! Breakfast was absolutely superb .... A 1 ++ ! A wide range of fruit, yoghurts and cereals etc plus cooked full-English followed by toast with butter or margarine topped with jams / marmalade according to personal choice. Fresh coffee and / or one of many types of tea also on offer. Refills too ..... as many as you wish! My table was set beautifully and orientated next to a big window overlooking a lovely well-kept garden. A perfect view! Service .... top-notch ! Orders taken and checked by Doug. Breakfast cooked to perfection by Kay. Both Kay and Doug popped-in to make interesting conversation ..... they pitched everything just perfectly engaging and showing interest but without being intrusive. Their many years of running / hosting in a much bigger hotel shines through in all they do at Greyhound Cottage. They are true professionals with a warm, friendly touch.... a perfect team! Location in Glemsford was spot-on for me .... easy access to Cavendish, Long Melford, Pentlow and Belchamp St. Paul..... by both car and bicycle! I blended attendance at my godson’s wedding and associated socialising .... with exploring the nearby countryside by bike. I loved this rural, quintessentially English area and intend returning! Doug kindly provided excellent secure storage for my bike .... and a key for easy coming / going !

Not a single negative for me to report linked with this delightful long weekend stay! My advice to Doug and Kay..... is simply to continue to deliver everything as they did for me. Nobody could possibly be disappointed ! The Greyhound and all it provides is a true gem !

I booked the Old Greyhound as it was a quiet location, and it did not disappoint. Room was lovely and airy, comfy large double bed and separate seating area with the TV. We were upgraded free of charge due to another couple wanting to stay an extra night in the room we originally booked which was a nice surprise. Kaye and Doug were great hosts and the communication before our arrival made it so easy to book a meal out locally. I would definitely book again if coming to Sudbury. They even gave us a card and chocolates as our stay was for our 29th Wedding Anniversary

Nothing, amazing place and gardens

We stayed here on the 21st July for 2 nights and it was wonderful, Doug and Kay were perfect hosts, they couldn't do enough for you. Our room was immaculately clean, the bed was so comfy and smelt so fresh and clean. Breakfast is delicious with lots of choice. Would recommend to anyone as a great place to stay. They left us a card and chocolates in our room for our Ruby anniversary which was a lovely surprise. The village of Glemsford is just a short drive from Long Melford, Clare and the lovely Lavenham so great for sightseeing.

A quirky historic room with plenty of space and not a flat or straight line in sight, But its 600 years old and I loved it. The whole house is wonderful with a lovely large rear garden, The owners need to and obviously do love the property and were very attentive, breakfast is just about anything and everything you could want. I have never before been welcomed with a welcome notice showing my car parking space. Truly memorable. I class this as exceptional, it was and I cannot think I could every find another place like it!

The slope of the room meant the head of the bed was downhill; didn't like this so simply put the pillows the other end of the bed.

Easy to find, hosts put a sign up showing us where to park. As we parked Kay (the host) came out out to meet us and showed us to our beautiful room. The room was warm and very clean with a wonderful comfy bed. Breakfast was brilliant, cereals, fruit, yogurts toast and full English. What made it extra special was the friendliness of Kay and Doug. They showed us around the house told us about the houses history. You can see how much they love their home and enjoy having guests and making them feel as welcome as possible. We had the King Room which was beautiful but on our tour of the house we saw the 4 poster suite which absolutely stunning. Why would you stay anywhere else when you can stay at the best with Kay and Doug. Thank you Kay and Doug you were just brilliant

What's not to like! Beautiful house, excellent hosts, peaceful surroundings,so much room and generally made to feel very welcome! The breakfast is endless and varied. Have to say if you want to get away for a couple of days we just couldn't recommend this wonderful place enough! Thank you for such a lovely stay,we hope to come back soon.

Nothing. The bathroom is separate from the main bedroom (literally outside the door) but to be honest it didn't bother us as all the space you are given is private to you.

Lovely large and clean room in a very old historic property with lots of original features. Comfortable bed and sitting area with a view of the garden. Nice en-suite bathroom. Great breakfast in a private dining room. Very friendly owners who gave valuable advice about local eateries.

Maybe difficult to access for people with restricted mobility. Some low beams and doorways entrances to contend with. Probably less suitable for the very elderly or those with small children. There were no issues or problems at all during our own stay.

Doug and Kay have thought of everything, they are a lovely friendly couple with superb accomodation, the breakfast is lovely with a good choice of tea's, there were prunes, fruit cereals and pastries. The room was immaculate and a good size, the bed was very comfy and the bathroom was spacious, tea coffee, bottled water and biscuits in the room even a first aid kit, cotton buds and pads in the bathroom , toothpicks on the breakfast table and so much more, breakfast table had all the condiments you could wish for. Superb place to stay so much more I could say, simple answer is if you need to stay in this area stay here.

Absolutely amazing, after reading the reviews expectations were high, on arrival we both agreed expectations had been exceeded. Massively. The hosts were fantastic, so friendly and helpful, even bringing through a takeaway we ordered along with plates and cutlery etc. Stayed in the suite with the huge bed, amazing room with a lovely cosy lounge or mezzanine area to unwind in. Breakfast was cooked too perfection and was the perfect end to our stay. 10/10 all round, can't wait to return, hopefully very soon.
