Paul was a fantastic host . Checked in early and was invited to use the garden area as no one was in that property .Due to the great weather Paul set us up to have breakfast in the lovely private garden which was a nice surprise as usually it would be in the conservatory . The Breakfast is fantastic and varied . Totally relaxed atmosphere and good location for pubs & restaurants in Long Melford also country walks at every turn . Wonderful stay .

Nothing . 100% satisfied . Stayed in both rooms now and both great . Wether you walk out to a private garden through your French doors in one room or a view of Melford Hall from the other you won’t be disappointed in either Character filled room ..

I loved everything about The Mill! There was nothing to dislike. Lovely room, decor, cleanliness, breakfast, the whole experience was spot on. The bath was lovely and luxurious, and I soaked away for an hour quite happily. Great location accessible to everything within a few minutes walk. The host Paul was super friendly and very welcoming. We arrived early and he was cleaning the room as the previous guests had just checked out. He offered to show us around and even gave us our key so we could come back when we were ready. This place is a little treasure and looking at how booked up they are already for this year it looks like other people feel the same. Would 100% return.

If I am being very picky my husband would have liked a toilet brush.

Excellent room, immaculately clean. We couldn't hear our neighbours through the adjoining wall. The host was very friendly and the breakfast was excellent. The location is great as you can walk to all the facilities in Long Melford and the whole area has lots of interest and good cycling country.

It does back onto a busy road and you can hear traffic. It has been very well insulated to reduce noise but for a country dweller it would disturb me with an open window.

What an incredible stay! I stayed here on the night before my wedding at nearby Alpheton Hall Barns. I arrived to some gorgeous balloons and a welcome note from Paul and Clare. The place is stunning and spotlessly clean. We were made to feel so welcome by Paul who is so friendly and warm. Facilities are top notch and the breakfast and delicious! We will be back for our anniversary.

Absolutely nothing. It was perfect.

Just back from a three night stay in the Garden Room, and all I can do is echo the many positive comments on here. The cottage is grade II listed and sympathetically converted to make a very cosy and quality retreat, which is a credit to friendly hosts Paul and Clare. Some nice little touches - piece of tasty cake, bags of sweets, breakfast in the garden for this room (weather permitting), bag of garden boules hung up in the wood store. Delicious breakfast too. It was our first visit and it's not difficult to see why so many people return, and I fully expect we will too.

The breakfast was excellent, quality products well prepared served in the conservatory.The location was great, a few minutes walk into the high street. Easy parking right by your accommodation. You are near a busy road but the triple glazing works well so did not bother us. The room was very comfortable with a beautiful bathroom and a very comfortable bed with top quality bedding, real feather pillows ,thank goodness! Very helpful and friendly hosts. Highly recommended.

This is a very minor thing but the towels have seen better days, new ones needed.

The choice of breakfasts met every need and taste. The location, decor and history of the Mill were all beautifully curated. We were made to feel both welcome and yet our privacy was respected at all times.

My partner has mobility challenges. Therefore, one higher seat or arm chair, would have been a bonus. However, I have no doubt had I raised this with Paul, he would have found a solution.

Great, clean and very comfortable room. Good location, very near to local restaurants, pubs and cafes and a good base to explore Suffolk from. Paul was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast choices were spot on. We tried the fried breakfast, yummy boozy porridge and pancakes, all of which were very tasty and freshly made on order.

The Mill was a perfect find in almost all respects. Private off road parking was a real bonus and the location of the house enabled us to walk easily into town or to the fantastic restaurants on the Green. ( a torch is useful though). Paul served a wonderfully fresh cooked breakfast to order with eggs from their own chickens. Our room in the recently renovated separate house was of stunning design, beautifully warm and spotlessly clean. The bathroom had a great shower with very good quality toiletries and dressing gowns were provided, always a nice touch. Paul never made us feel we had to rush to breakfast in the morning and the daily tidy up of the room was greatly appreciated. An excellent stay.

Nothing other than some traffic noise in the early morning although this is mostly muffled. We live in a quiet backwater so are no longer used to road noise.

The furniture and furnishings are obviously high end as well as the bathroom products available for use. The showpiece was the antique bath. The location is very picturesque.

The choice of bacon ( streaky) which surprised us considering the quality of everything else given at breakfast ( including home made jams)
