Lovely, cozy hotel in a perfect location, very close to the city centre and the railway station but in a quiet area. Our room (no. 9) was clean, functional and comfortable for two. We liked the decorations in the room a lot (although, personally, I would change places between the room mirror and one of the paintings so that the mirror is not right above the coffee table for even better functionality). Fridge in the room was a nice feature. We really enjoyed the full English breakfast (great that they had a very good vegan option, too). Altogether, we had a really nice stay and we'd visit again.

Some drawbacks: lack of bins for garbage separation; there was a smoking area right by our window and the smoke would sometimes get inside; the luggage storage room was way too small and our bags got squashed between others.

The locality. Lovely walks through Westgate gardens and Dane John in close proximity. I reckon room 8 and 9 would be nice, out the back and with the garden

Felt a bit unusual on arrival at 7pm. However it was a lovely stay, staff were lovely and breakfast very nice. Bathroom was a tad on the small size, room 5, but didn't spoil the stay . Having to park by Westgate towers which was a tad expensive. Maybe we would have been best to contact the establishment to ask if any free street parking nearby. However arriving in the dark didn't have time to look around for any free parking. Overall a nice stay

There wasn't any staff to welcome us but I was informed about it while I booked the room. Anyway, apart from that the indications we received were very precise and easy to follow. We arrived mid-afternoon and the room was ready for us, very clean with lots of amenities like coffee tea chocolate, etc. The distance from the city centre is 5 minutes so no need to use a car or get a taxi. We will book this property surely next time we will pop around Canterbury.

Honestly, I have nothing to report badly, just a couple of suggestions, more light in the bathroom and at least one large mirror in the room.

the property was lovely, we were in room 8 in the garden a loft room and it was just a really pleasant place to be. check was easy and the instructions were easy to follow. it a very quiet place to be we did not pump into anyone else during the day until the following morning at breakfast which I might add was freshly cooked and very tasty.

like all property’s of a certain age the room was a tad dated and there are a few maintenance issues to be looked at, major being that the bed base was broken but as it was at the foot end did not hinder my sleep.

everything, stuff are v lovely, helped me a lot to keep my suitcase after check out. Also, the English breakfast and the garden view is wonderful.

Amazing location, perfect distance to station/bus services to Kent University. No outside noise at night, lovely and quiet. Good sized room for two people staying, great value and just what we wanted as we were attending an event at the university.

Didn’t get fresh towels on the second day was the only complaint we had

Excellent location (for Canterbury city centre) and value for money. My room was extremely clean with great facilities, a comfortable bed and excellent WiFi reception. Friendly family hosts. Great continental breakfast with delicious home made pastries! :-)

The Black Horse is located within easy walking distance from almost anything you would want to do in Canterbury. Our room was comfortable and clean, the breakfast was excellent!

No air conditioning, but that’s normal everywhere here!

Clean, quiet, excellently located, friendly staff, tasty breakfast, great value for money. Nice bonus: actual glasses and mugs in the room, not plastic/paper cups!

Check-in wasn't as smooth as hoped but was resolved quickly, no real complaints there.

Loved this place. Great location on a quiet street. Woke up every morning to singing birds. Super easy to walk everywhere. Super clean. Breakfast was made to order and the ladies were great. Definitely stay here again when in the area.
