The hotel is in an excellent location being just a few minutes walk into the old town centre and all the major historical buildings. The staff are so helpful and pleasant and will go the extra mile to ensure that you enjoy your stay.

There was a very limited choice on offer if you didn't want a cooked breakfast. Just two different cereals and toast. Our room was at the back of the hotel and so very noisy until late evening and again in the morning. The mattress was very old and uncomfortable. Room service did try to help by putting a blanket on top.

Great location in a quieter area but still close to the centre of town. Lovely setting beside a park and the remains of an ancient mill. Excellent staff who were very welcoming, kind and helpful. We enjoyed just hanging out at the pub and eating there in the evenings. There is a lovely outdoor area to have drinks and relax. Our room had a view of the cathedral which was wonderful.

There were a few issues with the room that were troublesome. The TV cable connection was damaged so we had an erratic TV reception and also the toilet had a very feeble flush. A net curtain in the bedroom would have been much appreciated to allow a sense of privacy and curtains rather than a blind to block out the light at night.

Excellent location - within 10 minutes walk from Canterbury West station and 10 minutes to Christchurch Cathedral. Food was excellent, though it was a change from a stay a few years earlier - I guess it was due to Covid-19. The staff was friendly and quick dealing with the check-in, check-out and service at breakfast. Room had a nice view of the cathedral and was well appointed with plenty of towels. The heater kept the room nice and warm during the cold nights.

My room this time was opposite what seemed to be an office, which was a bit noisy at 6-6:30 am in the morning, with the door banging noisly. However otherwise the room was quiet despite the accommodation being over a pub.

All of our expectations were fulfilled! Comfortable and quiet place to stay, within walking distance of the train station and the center of Canterbury. We had two rooms at the top, with a private hallway. We had a view of the river on one side and the cathedral on the other. Good breakfast with a variety of choices included in the room price. Great pub with delicious food and beer! Very friendly and helpful hosts! We were able to store our luggage, after check-out, so we could see more of Canterbury the day we had to leave. Thank you Paul, Paul's wife, and staff for your wonderful hospitality!

The toilet in my room was a bit out-dated and didn't always flush properly. If you have trouble climbing stairs, this may not be the place for you.

Can't fault the food, the service and the room. As before the food was excellent and the staff were very friendly. The room was clean and comfortable.

The mattress could do with turning, as it felt like you were going to fall out, as most people sit on the edge of the bed so it seemed to sag a bit. The quilt needed replacing, as there was a small hole. The hot tap in the bathroom needs looking at, as it trickles out if you turn it on a little to wash your hands, but if your turn it on more, splashes over the front and after a minute it slows down so much, it trickles around the tap and dribbles over the side.

great location, good value for money. room was tucked away up a small narrow corridor but was worth it.

male staff member at dinner was so not interested, unhelpful and surly. cost the hotel about 70quid as were looking at buying wine, starters and settling in for a proper dinner, earlier was told by a delightful staff member I could alter a dish for dietary requirements and that they would be doing table service l, only for 20 minutes later to be told by the guy, no table service and no to menu alteration.

Room was clean, quite large, well appointed, and with beautiful views. Easy walking distance to everything we wanted to see while in town. Easy to park in the large lot across the street. Service was excellent, and the food in the restaurant downstairs was amazing.

The only thing that could be improved about our room is the shower. It is a clawfoot tub, so has a very narrow curtain hanging around it which tends to stick to you when showering. Not sure how this would be fixed, but it was the only negative part of our stay.

Central location. Jenny, one of the staff, was an incredibly nice person; she couldn't do enough to please. We were at the front of the hotel so had a lovely view of the river and gardens. The parking was easy.....£12 a night. The lovely walk to the city centre , passing lovely little houses. Superb breakfast.

Housekeeping didn't come in to change the towels on 2 consecutive days. When we complained, we were recompensed for this.

The location was superb, within 10 minute walk of shops, cathedral, museums etc. The hotel was perfectly lovely with friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was excellent as was dinner. Room was comfortable and large enough with a view of the river - superb

I don't think much could be improved upon. The hot water was scalding, but we were warned about that, and better than being tepid anyway, but there was a definite sound when water was run in other rooms, a sort of quiet roaring but didn't disturb us at all

Lovely cosy pub. Food was delicious, we had dinner here one night aswell as the breakfast each morning of our stay. Staff were all helpful and friendly. Room was clean and comfortable.

We were in a room next to a storage/staff room. There was alot of banging and talking, we were woken up at 8.30am on the Sunday which is fine as we had plans but would have been frustrating if we had wanted to lay in. I would recommend staff be mindful of guests staying in the room when using this room in future.
