The room we had was large, and very comfortable. The property was on 15 minutes from the town centre and the Cathedral. Great place for exploring the area. The continental breakfast was good. We found the staff helpful and very friendly. When we have the opportunity to return to Canterbury, we will use the Castle House Hotel again.

The parking was tight, although it didn’t affect us. There is a parking centre next door, if the hotel car park is full. The hotel as an agreement with the car park operator for a fixed cost for parking. We were warned about the parking by the hotel before we booked.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice room in the stable block with all you need and an excellent view of the Norman castle. Breakfast was continental only but had plenty of choice and lots of it. We are both in our 70s and it only took us 15 minutes to walk to the Cathedral in the centre of town so excellent location. Free on site car parking was a great bonus and we always found a space but that would depend on other vehicles and how they are parked.

The stairs in the stable block were quite steep and a hand rail both sides would have been helpful.

The room was great, good size, great view of the old castle, bed was comfy, shower pressure was good, towels extremely fluffy. The en suite was well bult and you couldn't hear anything from it when in use, which was a very welcome change. There was almost zero noise from the road despite being right next to the main road in, and we were woken each morning to the smell of freshly baking pain au chocolate, which was a very lovely way to wake up. Location was excellent, minutes walk from the centre, but just out of the way enough. The continental breakfast was better than a lot of others I've had, with a good range and variety of food. Would stay there again.

The TV was too small for the room, you couldn't really see it from the bed. Due to the excellent double glazing for the noise, it got pretty hot at night. There was a fan in the room, which helped a lot, but it was a little noisy and if you're a sensitive sleeper (as my partner is), this was slightly problematic.

Location was perfect - a hotel with parking and so close to the amenities of the city centre was without equal. The view from our room was lovely, overlooking the garden (which is sunken as it is the only part of the castle moat that can be seen)) There is some traffic noise due to being at an intersection/roundabout, so due to the heat of summer, we had to open the window for ventilation - cannot be helped, but note that the traffic starts around 6am. This should not be an issue in cooler months. Breakfast was 'continental', but a good selection of cereals, nuts, warm drinks, fresh juices, etc ... There's plenty there for a hearty breakfast. The room was clean and comfortable.

I don't think there was anything that stood out as being negative with the hotel. Friendly and helpful staff who also seemed to be happy in the work. So all good for everyone I hope.

The welcome by the member of staff on duty was very friendly and we found this to be the standard for the other members of staff who we met at the hotel. We had a large comfortable room that overlooked a busy roundabout! Whilst the view lacked something, the room was well soundproofed and traffic noise did not interfere with our enjoyment of the hotel, especially at night The room was spotlessly clean and the bed large and comfortable. The bathroom and shower met our needs more than adequately. There was a TV and the wifi worked! Not always the case in hotels. Breakfast was plentiful with a wide selection of cereals, means to make muesli and pastries, etc. Safe parking is available at the front of the property. We would certainly stay here again.

A chair or two in the room would have been a nice addition as we had to lie on the bed when we wanted to relax. Not really a complaint, however, we have an EV and it would have been useful if the hotel knew where the nearest charge point was. In fact it is in the adjacent public car park and worked well.

Very central location, free parking and very good breakfast. The room was spacious for a small room and very clean, new carpet. Bed was a double but good mattress. Although we were looking out at the very busy roundabout, there was hardly any traffic noise. It was a pleasant and easy 5 min. walk into the town centre through a lovely park. Aldi on the other side of the street was a bonus too. The hotel was nice and quiet, there were not many other guests so no noises :)

There was an irritating constant zoom noise in our room (no.2), due to wind and double glazing? Breakfast was very good but coffee could be better.... Why are bedlamps always so very bright?

I chose the hotel because of its proximity to the train station. It was about 5 minutes by going over the city wall. There were stairs or walkways, so it was easy to maneuver. The room was very spacious. Queen size bed with bedside tables, couch, desk. Huge bathroom. Though one side of the hotel is on a very busy road, it was remarkably quiet in my room, which had a view of the ruined castle across the way and up Castle Street. Not a long walk to the High Street and all the businesses in that area. The continental breakfast had many options.

Steep narrow stairs up to the room.

Great location close to centre with free parking during your stay. Big rooms ,Secondary double glazing so despite being close to ring road it was quiet if a bit hot with windows closed. Nice helpfull staff great location close to centre

Not much really. Booked breakfast for 9.45 as it closes at 10 am. Wasn't asked if we wanted tea and toast untill we'd virtually finished our breakfast. We chose coffee which was in a pot and quasants we coukd help our selves too. It didn't spoil our stay which was very nice and we will return next time in Canterbury.

The room was bigger than expected and the bed was extremely comfortable, breakfast was very nice but a full English breakfast on offer would have been fabulous, location was ideal and free parking a BIG plus! The staff were very welcoming and cheerful. I hope to be back when finances allow to treat my daughter to a weekend break away in the City. Thank you.

A bigger TV would have been welcome although it was not a problem, just a bit small as it was a little distance away from the bed. The hairdryer was a little weak in the power department but again not a problem, just too a while to dry my hair.

Our room was warm, quiet, comfortable, spacious and had everything we needed. We'd asked for a ground floor room and it could not have been more convenient for the car park, reception and breakfast room. We had sufficient room to park our car whenever we came and went. The staff on reception were absolutely lovely - friendly, warm, always available and very helpful. The continental breakfast was generous and we had plenty to eat. The location was excellent - very easy to find and access, and we could easily get to the city centre, cathedral and restaurants, even though I have mobility issues. Very happy with everything.

The hot water was scalding hot and so I was concerned, because I'm not very mobile, that I would scald myself on the shower (which didn't have a non slip surface) so I had to be really careful. Other than that I don't think I could fault this hotel.
