The room we staying in (17) was beautiful with a great setting down an even more beautiful street with a comfortable bed, the bathroom was to a high standard. Breakfast was delicious from the full english to smaller sandwiches and the evening meals with fantastic and quickly prepared. The location on the Pub/Hotel is in the perfect location just a short 2 minute walk into the city centre and 1 minute from the wall. I would highly recommend this hotel with its rich history. The staff members are top of the line with a very friendly and helpful demeanor.

If you like history, this is a great place to stay. It's the oldest coach house in Chester and was built in 1535. If you have mobility issues, you may not want to stay here as you do have to climb stairs to get to the room, but you are told that when you book the room so it's not a surprise. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff was friendly and helpful. There is a pub on the main floor and the food is good, but there are also a number of restaurants and pubs within walking distance. You're also within walking distance of the Roman Wall. We got to the hotel early and although the wouldn't let us check in early, they did store our luggage so we could go exploring.

Hotel in brilliant location, bang in the centre of town near everything. Wonderful building with old charm but still clean and modern enough inside. Didn't eat in the hotel as had meal booked elsewhere. Comfy bed and lovely bathroom.

Breakfast was expensive at the hotel at £16 but ate breakfast at a lovely coffee shop nearby for just over half the price and it was delicious. Car Park about a 10 min walk but you can expect that with the hotel having such central location, however it was reasonable price at £6 for 24 hours

Historical building with a long history, breakfast was good. Room was spacious. Comfortable and friendly atmosphere inside the pub itself. Staff friendly and informative on local attractions. An early check in option is a great idea gives you the chance to make more use of your time.

Walking around upstairs was a little precarious as the floors are very uneven with its age. Only downside with the room was that the toilet was not a conventional flush it was a waste disposal system, would be an idea to use some air fresheners and you needed to keep the bathroom door closed. Through no fault of the hotel there was a massive police presence outside our front facing window, 5 police cars and a van, fully armed police shielded up to an incident with one of the guests. My serious point i find it totally unjustifiable that you are charged £2.95 for a shot of fresh orange juice in a Vodka and Orange, disgusting !

female member of staff on reception at 3pm 16-07 -23 very helpful and advised of all discounts ref bar food , 50 % discount on drinks / 10% on food great - Breakfast and male member of staff fantastic could not have asked for more , Cleanliness of room and hotel spot on. Food lovely in afternoon .

Male member of staff could of been more helpful on pre booking at 12pm in regards to getting into room possibly early , Just brushed off with chester races was day before so not a chance - Maybe if he would have taken our mobile number and said if there is a slight chance you can book in early and we will contact you by mobile that may have been more polite .

Very historic property - slanty floors and ceilings, staircase that’s all lopsided etc - amazing chance to stay in such a historic building. Large bathroom. Family of three - two adults and child in the two bedroom suite - spacious. Comfy beds. Yes there is quite a lot of street noise at night but you are right in the centre of Chester - it’s not possible to get this sort of location in a historic building without some street noise. Clean rooms. Standard English breakfast options of decent quality.

Furniture a bit poorly maintained with some loose screws etc. Twin room could have done with a chair or desk or something

We were contacted early of the day of check in to let us know of a electrical problem affecting our room. Although they were assured it would be resolved soon, A full refund was offered with a professional and courteous explanation. Or. 50 % back from the booking price was offered back should we choose to stay. When we arrived at 4, the staff were brilliant, we put our bags in the room and stayed at the bar with 50% off drinks. between 3 and 5. After drinking about 16 pints in 45 minutes, I wobbled to my room . The fault had been resolved 🙂🙂

Central location, easy walking to city centre, walls, and museum. A bit of a walk from the car park, but easy enough. Close to main mall. Great service, offered to carry bags up steep steps. Excellent beds and spacious bathroom with good pressure in shower. Wonderful character of quintessential English pub.

Knew to expect early morning recycling noise from previous reviews and confirmation by pub. This happened at about 5:45am, which wasn't ideal. Had to laugh when this was followed by at 6:15am by window washing, which was certainly not expected. After about 6:30 the noise calmed down for a couple of hours so we got some more sleep in, but this was a Sunday night/Monday morning, so will vary.

Location is fsntastic Character of the room, including an uneven floor that has you falling sideways Nice walk in shower Tea and coffee in room Breskfast was a good stsndard

Cold tap in room wasn't working Wardrobe space very minimal Lighting on the landing works off a sensor and you only get about 2 seconds to try to lock your door before you are in the dark unless you start waving your arms about. Worst quality toilet paper ever. There was an old chair in the room that was ready to collapse any second. Lack of plug sockets in room

The staff were lovely, the room was ready on time. The location was perfect! The bathroom was a lovely size, teh curtains were black out. We had a view of the road below, so was lovely to people watch! There was an iron and ironing board. The weather was glorious the day we arrived so we didn't spend too much time in the room, but we were happy. The room felt safe and secure also!

There's a terrible smell coming from our sink - room 16. There is also a sewage type smell as you walk out to the beer garden. We would have liked more attention to vacuuming around / under the bed.
