A perfectly placed hotel within the walls of Chester close to all amenities. It has a family feel and some staff know you by name after a few days, but this was not intrusive and I felt very welcomed there. The staff are without doubt the biggest asset in the Townhouse - this was from booking, to reception, throughout the day and checking out. They will go out of the way to provide a special service. A lovely hotel that I cannot recommend enough, with an excellent breakfast choice and quality. I will be returning to trial in court there in November and have recommended to my colleagues. I shall certainly be booking it for myself first.

I really don't have any suggestions for improvement.

Modern, very clean, comfortable, and good looking hotel; excellent value for money. The room was large, beds comfy, and it was clean and quiet. Staff were lovely and went out of their way to wish my Mum a happy birthday and organised a surprise for her. Communication was great, the location was convenient, and breakfast was perfect. I highly recommend this hotel, and the breakfast. I look forward to coming back again soon.

There were a lot of stairs and no lift, which makes it difficult if you have a heavy suitcase, as you have to take it up lots of steps. The room window could not be opened to allow a bit of fresh air in. There was no air con or fan in the room, so it can be a bit uncomfortable if it’s a hot day.

Well placed location right near the centre of the city, its attractions & restaurants. Room rate was reasonable. Very clean, comfortable hotel. Room serviced fully every day. Mostly very friendly & helpful staff. We had an afternoon tea and a breakfast which were bother very well presented & tasty

Would be good to know in advance that the bedrooms were only accessible by a series of steep staircases - unexpected & unpleasant surprise to some of the guests we met. The hotel food whilst very good was expensive. Parking was in a local multi-story car park and the discount card given didn't always work

The biggest asset for this hotel is the staff: they're very friendly. The hotel is located in the town centre and so everything of note is within a short walk. The breakfast was good and there were no problems with the wifi. But be aware that it's an open network so one could question how secure it is.

For those with mobility issues, the stairs may be challenging. The major downside of the hotel is that if you're in one of the top rooms, the heat can be oppressive in hot weather. There is no air-conditioning, so on warm nights you have to have the window open and that means allowing in a lot of noise from the main road below. To drown the noise and to circulate the air, we requested a fan which was immediately provided. Due to the limited space in the room, the bathroom had rather an unusual arrangement whereby the toilet was positioned in front of the basin. Never seen that before!

The hotel has a very modern, clean feel to it and it smells lovely. The staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. Our room was in excellent condition, very clean and welcoming. The bathroom facilities were great with a clean and powerful shower. We hadn't planned to have breakfast there but are glad we did, it was great, don't miss out. As for the location, it was just a short walk to the centre or river.

I like my coffee so maybe a decent coffee machine in the room. I didn't notice if there was a tv down in the bar/lounge area so maybe that could be a thing.

The staff every member was approachable helpful and very attentive. From the moment we arrived reception lady very friendly and helpful. To the evening bar staff who engaged with us to the ladies at breakfast who were very polite friendly and helpful. We couldn’t fault anyone except of course the Liverpool fan who also supported St Helens !!! There’s no forgiving some people, he was a pleasure to meet and lovely to chat too.

The maze of stairs but it’s a beautiful old building we just worked out how to get from room 1 to room 18 when it was time to leave.

Booked last minute, writing note requesting shower as my fellow traveller senior and requesting reservation for dinner. On arrival, I discovered there was no evening meal offered, which was blow, given tired frailty of my companion. Staff responded splendidly finding accessible rooms with walk in shower, offering helpful suggestions for finding supper and delivering delightful breakfast in the morning to avoid struggle with steps up to the dining area. Lovely location with river through gate in wall just on from hotel, and splendidly varied dining options just up the street in heart of old city. Parking overnight till 8am then 30 mins in some bays if you need to park close by but city has park and ride and has designated disabled carparks near centre. Nice biscuits and shower creams. Lovely staff.

Gorgeous old-style townhouse, loads of character and high ceilings. Very comfortably furnished (I could have slept on the carpet!) and nice to have a bathroom with actual opening windows and natural light. Staff were fantastic and great location. Spacious room with plenty of useful furniture (actual storage in the bathroom under sink, etc).

The only small gripe I had was that there was only one usable plug socket and it was right underneath the TV far away from the bed so I couldn’t use and charge my phone at the same time. Understandable given the age of the property, but I would rather have had an accessible socket next to the bed than the wired-in landline phone on the bedside table which seems a bit unneeded in this day and age. Very minor point though!

A very stylish townhouse that has been recently refurbished. The staff were very friendly and helpful, I had a lot of heavy bags and these were carried both up and downstairs for me without me having to ask. My room was very spacious, calm colours and a good view. Excellent simple-to-operate shower (lots aren't!), very good lighting in shower room.

The card machine wouldn't work on my credit cards, both of which were working elsewhere on the same day. In the end I had to find a cashline to get cash. I didn't have a car with me but there didn't appear to be anywhere nearby to park.

We were very pleasantly surprised because the hotel is located in an ideal place, next to lots of restaurants and shops nearby, and although the parking is separate, it's only a 5-10 minute walk away so not too bad. The hotel is also very clean and the exterior and interior look great. The thing that really stood out for us though is the staff. They were lovely and really looked after us in whatever way they could. This made a huge difference to our stay as we had our 3 young children with us (4, 3 and 6 months). I think we have never been so cared for at a hotel and it made life so much easier. Absolutely wonderful staff! They helped us carry our suitcase upstairs, upgraded our room so we could be next to each other, let us keep the pram at reception...They even gave my children an Easter cupcake at the end, which they loved. I was a bit worried beforehand because some of the reviews were very harsh and others were great but I really don't know where the criticism came from. We had no problems.

The only advice I would give to families with babies is to bring your own safe mattress for the cot as there is none provided, just the base that comes with the cot. We found it difficult to pad it out in a way that was safe for our 6 month old to sleep on.
