Excellent location. The room was warm and generally well-appointed. The breakfast was plentiful, hot and tasty with good choices. Kelly is a gem and recommended that we visit the zoo. The hotel offered discounted tickets and we had a fabulous time. The staff in general are so friendly and knowledgeable about the area.
We prefer a twin room that does not have connecting doors into next room as we could hear our 'neighbours' at 5.30 am. Two small comfortable chairs would have been preferable to an office chair, but we understand there are business folk who use the hotel.

Nice hotel, clean comfy bed and room, great location and a good breakfast. Celebrating my wife’s birthday.
£10 parking fee per night should be included in the room price as it is not cheap. A couple of the staff were really nice and friendly and the cleaning staff noticed you were there and very polite. The rest wouldn’t even make eye contact to acknowledge you. The new policy you can’t check in to your room as it is not ready to get your key card and come back after 3pm when the room is ready is pathetic . We had to go out and stay local and then had to come back to check in. Never known this before as we stayed in many hotels and at the Holiday Inn in December. Every other hotel lets you do this. We are no spring chickens and spoilt our afternoon having to come back. The rest of the stay was good.

Breakfast hot and promptly restocked as needed. Perfect location for exploring the City and its Christmas Market and shops. The room size was adequate, clean, warm and lovely bathroom with Dove cleansing products. Very helpful and pleasant Reception Staff.
Outside road noise which could be minimised by windows being replaced and upgraded to better standard. Breakfast acceptable but a couple of additions to the hot breakfast would be good e.g. mushrooms/tomatoes/fried eggs, especially if staying for more nights.

Room was clean and comfortable but facing a busy road so traffic was sometimes audible. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. I liked the fact that there was free tea, coffee and hot chocolate available in the breakfast area … round the clock. The breakfast was self service with a good selection of choices for food and drinks. The location was very good and it was an easy walk into the city centre for Christmas markets, shops, bars and restaurants. The price of the stay was very competitive and included breakfast.
I personally prefer a room with a bath but the shower was good. The road at the front of the hotel was busy at times and traffic noise was audible … this died down after hours, though.

The hotel was easy to get to with plenty of parking (£10 per night). The staff were very friendly and the hotel itself was very clean with plenty of seating in the foyer area, a little bar and tea and coffee on tap. The rooms were a decent size with comfy beds, tea and coffee facilities, tv and a heater if needed. You can opt for a racecourse view for a little bit extra money, but we chose not to. The shower was excellent with plenty of towels and shampoo/bodywash etc. Breakfast was buffet style with a good selection of cereals, fruit, and full english, fruit juice etc and the area was spacious with plenty of tables that were cleared quickly. The location of the hotel is also excellent, not only for the racecourse, but it is a couple of 100 yards from the city walls, so giving access to everywhere in the city without having to negotiate traffic etc. The centre has an amazing selection of shops, food outlets and history so well worth a visit, but doesn't have the crowds that York does. If you are looking for a cozy character hotel, then this isn't it, however, for location, facilities and staff it is perfect
Not hotel related at all, but it was very wet and there were lots of leaves coming down while we were there so the wall was quite slippery in places!

Good location for visiting the centre, plus plenty of places to eat
We are pensioners and have to budget accordingly, we had just come from holiday inn express outside York and did not have to pay until the day we left, we were then confronted with being asked to pay in full on arrival, we had he explain our pensions would not go in to our bank until the day we left, every time we spoke to the manager we were asked when we were going to pay. I am sure that there policy has a reason for this but a explanation from the hotel before we arrived would have helped.

Staff couldn’t help enough, especially front desk. Car parking facilities were excellent and free. Breakfast was on the whole very good with choices of continental and cooked. Rooms were spotless as was all the public areas. Short walk uphill to main thoroughfare. Added bonus was the city tour bus stopped outside hotel every hour.
Cooked breakfast was verging on cold two days out of four. I appreciate it’s not made to order but think the kitchen staff could check the temperature occasionally and replenish if necessary. I addressed this with the kitchen manager who agreed and said she would keep an eye on it.

We loved our stay and all the staff were very welcoming and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and they went out of their way to make sure our stay was perfect. The hotel has plenty of free parking, which was important to us. The location was excellent, with the town centre being five minutes walk away. The buffet breakfast was great and hot drinks were free for guests to help themselves at any time. Everywhere was kept clean and tidy and was bright and welcoming throughout. We would highly recommend staying here.
All was good but to be very picky, the plates for the hot breakfast were cold which made the excellent, hot food lose its heat quickly. A minor point though.

Air conditioned breakfast room which was clean and well maintained. Good choice of breakfasts from full English to cereal, croissants and muffins. Staff all very helpful. Room clean and plenty of space. Plenty of services available with 24hr reception. Location is 5 mins walk to the start of the city walls and into the centre. Walked everywhere once we had arrived.
Room was hot but they did provide a fan and we were there during the hottest week of the year so far. Our room was near the railway line so lots of trains going by but you do get used to them after the first day. Neither of these would put me off staying there again.

The hotel is easy to find simply by following signs for Chester Racecourse. The staff were very friendly and helpful, explaining where all the facilities were and when they were available. The complimentary tea/coffee/chocolate dispenser was a nice feature. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and the breakfast choices were great. The hotel is only a 5 minute walk from the city and we were walking the Roman Wall within a couple of minutes. Overlooking the racecourse, the hotel is pleasantly situated. Private Car Parking is next to the hotel (£10) and we were able to leave the car there beyond the time when you are expected to vacate your room. This meant we could explore Chester without having to find alternate parking. We had an enjoyable stay. Highly recommended.
We found nothing to dislike. The £10 charge for parking seemed a bit odd at first, but it is private parking for guests and we were allowed to stay there beyond our room vacation time.
