Room was lovely, clean and well maintained. Most of staff very friendly. Food was good in Red Lion

No shelves in bathroom for wash bags/toiletries. Food in Red Lion was great. However a wonderful breakfast was spoilt on both mornings over toast. The first morning we asked for 2 brown and 1 white toast as there was 3 of us. The white toast never arrived. I asked for the toast the lady scowled then came bag with 1 slice of brown. The second morning I just wanted bacon and toast so I asked for 2 slices of brown and bacon and my son again ordered white. My bacon arrived on 1 slice of brown and the white never arrived. So I asked for the toast. 1 slice was brought for my son so I had to ask again for my 2nd piece so I could make a sandwich. What a pity as other than that the food was great.

This is undoubtedly one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. The staff were excellent and couldn't have been more helpful or welcoming. The hotel itself is beautifully appointed, clean and quiet and the attention to detail throughout the hotel is fabulous. My wife and I spent 2 nights here to celebrate our anniversary and the staff even took the time to write us a congratulations card and leave it in our room for when we arrived. We loved everything about our all too brief time here.

I genuinely cannot find fault. Everything was perfect and for that I would like to offer our sincere thanks to all of the staff.

Stunning rooms, great location for a wedding, beds really good, breakfast was stunning

Young staff with no life experience behind the bar telling people they have had to much to drink, telling a fully grown adult male thats celebrating someones wedding to “go and have 10 mins and have some water” when in fact i didn’t arrive till 1930 to be told at 2230 that i was far to drunk and they wont serve me anymore and my wife has to now buy her own drinks, to be dragged outside by the manager for all to see to argue with me in the corridor for them to accuse me of taking photos of the bar staff even went through the photos on my phone, in the end it was proven i was fine and there was no photos to be allowed back in, so pointless really but spoilt mine and my wife night.

The decor was very tasteful and Hotel had a lovely atmosphere and ambience. The staff were extremely friendly and couldn’t do enough to help. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and freshly cooked as you had to wait a little while for it to be served but well worth the wait.

The price of the wine in the restaurant. We thought it was extortionately priced. Also, we found the menu two courses for £25 limited in choices and the second evening we ate out somewhere else in Chesterfield as we were told the menu would be thesame the next evening.

Beautiful location, rooms very clean and very spacious the gentleman on reception worked very fast to get us checked in so we didn’t miss too much of the wedding we were attending. Breakfast was incredible and the decor just absolutely beautiful very fitting with the area. The service for food during the wedding was very quick, the meal was hot despite the hundreds needing to be fed

There was no hot water in the room when we woke up, after breakfast there was some so I believe it was just because everyone woke up at the same time and it needed time to heat up

The hotel, including the room, views / gardens, restaurant and breakfast area and appearance of the whole hotel was exceptional. The room was incredibly nice, clean, spacious and comfortable with a fantastic bathroom. The food at breakfast was also perfect!

The prices. I was here for a wedding, but otherwise I would never choose to pay these prices for a one night stay because as incredible as the hotel is, it is not worth it. The drinks at the bar were also some of the most expensive I have ever experienced and I think unfair given you do not have a choice, given the more remote location.

the rooms are big and very clean and beautifully decorated, with lots of lovely 'extras' like fresh milk in the fridge. We ate in the bar area because we took our dog, and it was lovely and quiet (thursday night) with an open fire. The staff are all amazing, lots of very friendly and attentive younger staff, nothing too much trouble and everything done with a smile and a little chat! Special mention to the lovely maintenance man who took our dog for a stroll while we had breakfast!

Nothing, it really was a perfect stay thank you

What I enjoyed the most was the breakfast, it was truly unique. Staff were all friendly and was very handy to have print outs of possible walks around the area. The milk in the mini fridge and the room amenities were also of great quality. And the big bath tub and the shower area separate, I love it.

I would have liked to have more options on the TV - perhaps a smart TV were we get access to internet. I would also have enjoyed more of the delicious bread we enjoyed in the first couple of days on the last day. But these are just small details, it was a great option for the peak district.

The front of house staff, marvellous, from reception waiting and bar staff. Food in the restaurant was really lovely.

Room service was less than optimal. used coffee cups and glasses not taken away. Bed not made because it looked made up. Room service food not consistent. One night an amazing beetroot salad, so we had it the next night, unfortunately, this salad was less than half the size with not a lot of beetroot. They did immediately replace the salad, and we were not charged for it.

Lovely hotel and location.

Brekfast was VERY hit and miss. Stayed for 4 nights and it wasn't consistent. Also there was a ahort power cut which was very annoying as other half was in the shower and the water was also shut off. When i wrote an email of complaint, they stated it was only for 20 mins. REGARDLESS of time, this had an impact on our stay. This hotel isn't cheap and felt that my complaint about the power cut was dismissed as these things happen. HOWEVER, reception stated to me that it happens frequently. Power cuts late evening affects your stay REGARDLESS of length of time. ALSO, as stated in other reviews, for the price, a robe to wear in the room would've been welcomed.
