The room was great. Beds were v comfy and on wheels so I could put mine under the open window.The hotel was spotlessly clean. There's a good big lift. The surroundings were beautiful, we got the bus from Bristol, the stop was very close. The people on the front desk were very friendly and polite. The young waitress was really nice. There was a cute red deer in the garden!! The dining room and bar were nice. The views were awesome.

I think there needs to be grab rails as the bath is really high to get into and potentially dangerous for older or less mobile people. The water is v v hot,it could scald someone and needs to be turned down. The head waiter did seem a bit annoyed with us, maybe just his way, no disrespect saying this. I did ask for oil and mayonnaise as the chicken salad was dry. But I think positive criticism is useful, I've worked in hospitality.

We've stayed here before and like it for its location above the water. The view is stunning, it's handy to the seafront and we like the quietness of the surroundings. It's only a short walk to a delightful shopping street in one direction and to the cliff path to Ladye Bay in another.

The hotel is one that I would describe as having faded grandeur. It's an imposing building with large airy rooms - some with sweeping views across the water to Wales but they could do with a makeover. We would stay there again so these points do not deter a return visit.

Good big room with sea view. Big bed, excellent shower and bath.

Bedside lights were too dim to read by and room light equally dim. Lighting definitely needs attention. Breakfast was okay, but coffee dire - undrinkable. Worth investing in cafetieres and some decent coffee, as it spoils an otherwise very good breakfast experience. Fresh fruit salad was lovely.

The hotel has a lovely traditional feel - a grand, old building with a fabulous location and panoramic views over the sea. My room was small but well appointed, with comfortable bed. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fine, with the whole experience enhanced by sitting in an elegant dining room at a table overlooking the sea. The hotel is also near to a coastal path which affords healthy walks after breakfast. It’s an easy walk to restaurants and cafes along the esplanade, but the hotel is set in quiet surroundings.

Nothing really - I enjoy old world charm.

Booking in early, a lift up to the floor nearest the room. Sea view was wonderful and the room was a good size. All very clean and plenty of electrical sockets.

The bath was very slippery and after slipping I decided not to take a shower, it was too dangerous. The shower head didn't easily sit in it's socket. The floor by the back of the toilet was falling away on the left, where I presume too much water had come onto the floor and rotted the support beam. The edging to the main door had been forced and nails were exposed, just needed a little maintenance. I talked to the cleaning staff and they said I could have asked reception for a non slip matt. Would look into the floor problem. Lastly the pillows were very firm and didn't make for a good nights sleep.

Fabulous location with a beautiful view overlooking the Bristol Channel. Short walk to the lovely seafront and to the Hill Road area. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good food in the restaurant for dinner on arrival and hearty breakfast. Very accommodating toward our dog also. Very comfortable room with a lovely little window view with a couple of chairs and a coffee table.

Wifi was not very strong in our room - download content before coming if you want to watch films or TV on your tablet/laptop. The decor is pretty old in places and some creaky floors but that's to be expected with an older hotel and wasn't a problem. Come with eyes open to these points, don't worry about them, and you'll have a great stay!

Great location, with excellent views from the bar (nice garden, although we weren't they long enough to make use of it). Very obliging and friendly staff. Good breakfast.

A shame there were no catch-up facilities on the TV (not that I've stayed anywhere that there is). Not sure about the QR code, which replaced the usual information pack - environmentally sound, but unfortunately it's quite difficult reading all the info on a phone, and the breakfast times were wrong! Still, the staff were very obliging and let us have a late breakfast.

Very pleasantly surprised how good our stay was due to price paid and age of hotel, Room was clean and warm and everything was in good condition. Beds were very comfortable Ample car parking available, and a bonus to be able to take our little dog. We did not have breakfast at hotel, but view was lovely of Bristol channel. Reception staff are lovely and very amenable if you have an issue.

We ate in Terrace bar in evening, unfortunately my sister in laws sandwich had to be returned, but we were not charged. However it was Valentines night in main restaurant and so staff were very busy.

On arrival my room was upgraded and we were given a peaceful room not only with a sea view, but also a view of the pier from the bathroom! We had asked for a quiet space and this was certainly respected and we very much appreciated this, especially as a large party were visiting the hotel. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful and the hotel looked beautiful as ever. We also found a coastal path to Ladye bay, which was lovely and easily reached from the hotel. Thank-you we will be back.

The breakfast was excellent, parking was very good dinner was good if limited menu. The staff were extremely efficient and friendly in all roles even the cleaners were cheerful and helpful. We were very pleased with the level of service provided .

The awful roads, not helped by the lack of final directions to the hotel. As previously mentioned the dinner menu proved to be limited when staying for more than a couple of nights
