Having read some recent reviews before arriving, I was wary of this hotel, thinking it would be 'run down' and full of older people. But I needed to be near Cromer for an early meeting next day, so 'Paris' it was.. Yes, 'Paris' specialises in 'older guests' and probably has at least a coach full at any time, occupying at least half of its 67 rooms. . But it should be used/considered much more often by younger people, those with families in particular. Okay, the timings of check-ins, breakfast and dinner are a bit restrictive. But it's as near the beach as you can get, is a very imposing building, has a decent bar and has loads of restaurants/shops/pubs within say 150 metres. It's in much 'better fettle' than some reviews suggest. My room (not one of the best, no sea view, quite small) was freshly carpeted, contained new furniture, a good TV, had a decent shower and was spotlessly clean. Paris 'runs lean'....there aren't staff all over the place. But the three team-members I dealt with were very enthusiastic, clearly loving the hotel. Later, whilst I did not talk to them, the team who clean the bedrooms crossed the reception area and they too clearly like their jobs...more than can be said for some who work in UK 'hospitality'. Like a lot of long-established resorts, Cromer is tight for cars/parking. But the hotel has ten parking spaces...I got one, even though the hotel was near full. (Tell Reception so you get 'a permit' for your stay). BUT...finding the hotel by car is not that easy. As you follow the one-way system, travelling between shops, look for Cromer Church (hard to miss) and turn left immediately before it. Within say 50m you can go hard right, slightly left, or straight ahead down a narrow one-way street. Go ahead down the narrow street which bends left as you see the sea. The hotel is there, immediately on the left.
A bit strict on timings and perhaps some would find fellow-guests too old. But look on the bright side...no rowdy parties and you cannot get 'more central' than this

The location , the architecture of the building , the view too . The receptionist Jasmin was exceptional, and made our stay more enjoyable , our first encounter booking in , male receptionist was cold , dismissive and gave minimum information breakfast staff were so friendly and attentive , but coach parties took up most of their time and attention If it wasn't for these staff , we would not have enjoyed spending more time in the bar and inviting family members from The Wellington to join us in the bar .
The location of our room, could only access it by narrow stepped staircase , room so warm and even with window open it was stifling . Result you could hear the refuse collectors from 6:45 am emptying bottle and refuse bins from pub/ restaurant accross the road Other family members stayed at the Wellington had nicer rooms, toiletries and not so noisy

We had a really good stay - definitely worth the extra for the sea view room. Staff were friendly and helpful. We liked the look and feel of the hotel - old fashioned in a good way. Perfect location, overlooking the sea and the pier. The price for that is you can't park that close, but you can drop off and pick up outside (have faith, yes, there is a way to and from the hotel by car, down those narrow streets).
As others have reported, breakfast service suffers when there's a coach party - took nearly 40 minutes to get our drinks, let alone food, with the staff working flat out.. Poor choice of beer at the bar.

Everything was fine for our needs, we were only using it for an overnight stay, staff on reception and the bar were excellent and friendly. Staff at breakfast were polite and efficient.
The room was ideal but could do with a little redecoration of the bathroom and attention to the sealants. Some hotels including The Red Lion Cromer now offer fresh milk from a fridge on the landings, this would have been a nice addition instead of the milk sachets. My bath towel was fresh after a clean but had various stains on it so should not have been re used. The poached egg on my breakfast was not freshly cooked and it was solid which was a shame as the rest of the breakfast was lovely and grease free. Breakfast time was limited to 8am to 9am so it was a mass entrance, a little earlier opening would prevent this.

My wife and I are mature cyclists. We travelled around Norfolk using two Sustrans routes. We stopped at five different hotels about 45 miles apart. Each hotel traditionally catered for other markets. All the staff we met on tour were friendly and helpful and all the hotels were clean. The Hotel de Paris was busy when we arrived hosting a coach party. The staff were very busy so perhaps we felt a little underwhelmed with the reception.
The staff were brilliant but under a lot of pressure from the needs of guests. I think the chain that owns them is cutting corners. They need more staff…some were working exceptionally long shifts.

Th friendly staff, every single person we encountered was friendly and helpful. Brilliant service. A beautiful old building decorated for Christmas. Our room was clean, warm, spacious and comfortable. Perfect sea view overlooking the pier. Slept very well. Breakfast was served quickly, was hot and tasty. Buffet was well plentiful and a good selection.
The only thing I could fault was the bedroom windows were grubby and needed a clean, but we had experienced a lot of storms in the area recently which might have been to blame. Otherwise for us it was faultless.

In fact, I had only just checked out of the hotel on the morning of 6 July, thinking I had to return home, but finding this was not necessary, I rebooked and checked in again in the afternoon. And it was a pleasure to stay again in this French style hotel right on the sea front! The hotel has all amenities and a very good breakfast service.
Nothing to complain of at all! I noted that their set dinner was timed a little early to suit the tour groups whom I believe are the main customers at this point, so dined out, but staying there at another time in the future this set dinner might be something I do myself as well. It might also be noticed by some that the French style of building hotels seems traditionally to include a lot of winding passages and short flights of stairs, which might present a challenge to some visitors (but not for me!). It is also to be noted that parking at the hotel is limited perforce to a smallish space that is usually filled by the guests who arrive first, and a little creativity is required to find some free parking further away (again not a problem for me)!

Staff very friendly and helpful. Central location ideal for attractions such as the show at the Pavilion Theatre, which wa excellent, and other amenities. Food was good.
The hotel is looking a little tired and could do with some investment, though that did not distract from its charm and welcoming atmosphere.

The location is great! It gave me a grand view out to sea and was central to the town. The dining room also gave great views out to sea, making it a pleasure to go in to breakfast there.
There was really nothing to dislike here, value was good, and I plan to return. I did notice that this establishment does not permit one to dine in the evening after a fairly early hour when I would not normally aim to sit down for dinner, so went out to the restaurants in town for an evening meal instead. But many hotels are like this, so it was really not a problem!

The staff were all lovely and very polite. The service during breakfast was excellent and all our questions or queries were answered promptly. The property is a beautiful historical building and it was so nice to see some, if not most, original features.
The decor was a bit dated and it would be lovely to see this amazing building refreshed inside a little bit. The room was very spacious and comfortable but faced onto a busy pub which wasn’t mentioned to us when booking - the noise was a little inconvenient but nothing too bad.
