Gorgeous staff. Food just downstairs, parking just out the back. Absolutely loved the room - curved bay window opening to leafy trees. And the shower? Heaven. When you are travelling around a good shower is a plus. This shower however earns 5 stars on it’s own.

It’s above a pub so expect the usual muffled pub ambience- though it really wasn’t bad at all, quieter than others I’ve been to. I don’t think the tea/coffee tray had been restocked as there were only 2 coffees, but that’s such a minor thing.

The grey horse staff were fantastic for me! I had been in contact before to say that I was passing through Darlington on a charity bike ride. The staff arranged and marketed a brilliant fundraising evening for me, raising way over £200 for the charity, plus also getting to engage with the community. The downstairs bar was lovely, busy and friendly. The rooms were great too and I wouldn't hesitate to stay again or atleast pop in for a drink if I am ever in the area again

Only issue was the shower wasn't very good in the room, but that was minor as everything else was great about my stay.

I booked 2 rooms, one double and a family room. The family room was spacious with a double and single beds. The double was small but adaquate for what we needed. Both were clean, fresh linen and towels. Tea and coffee making facilities. On arrival staff were friendly, gave us advise on were to eat etc and were able to answer all our questions. We stayed one night whilst at Croft racing circuit

Theres nothing I'd said I didn't like as such but the mattress in our room could have done with renewing... could feel the springs. And It would have been nice to be able to have a meal there, but they didn't have a chef at the time of our stay. It is a pub and they had live music... but it's a pub so to be expected. The noisy settled down promptly about 1030-1045 ish. (That's not a negative point- but just for others awareness)

The room was well sized , very clean and in a nice location. The staff was very good and very helpful. A beautiful local church was the image that greeted you on your way to the Grey Hoarse as well as on your way to the city centre. A quick place with were you can get a sense of the way that the people of Darlington have fun, laugh, discuss and support each other in times of need.

The WI-FI can improve.

The room was very clean and spacious. The shower was excellent, with nice towels and toiletries. The staff member was lovely. Excellent location which was handy for Darlington, and a short drive to an Asda superstore. Comfy bed :o) Would recommend and use again! Excellent value.

The noise from the pub itself was flagged up very clearly, and this wasn't a problem. Not a complaint, but it was a little odd having no drawers or wardrobe, table or chair. I didn't like the lack of lighting in the corridor outside my bedroom, especially as there were two steps halfway along.

The room met all my needs allowing me to rest and do my paperwork. The staff were lovely and so helpful and the bar had a great atmosphere and other customers friendly making me feel at home.

Black out blinds could assist others, me I always travel with a sleeping mask and ear plugs just in case as a frequent traveller.

Great time in the bar the singer was excellent halfway through we got free shots, nice gesture. Good price drinks. The room was clean and tidy staff were great, we left very early for a flight so we had our own exit from the pub and it's near the airport . Everything was perfect and we will use again if we fly from teeside airport again.

No fault of the owner but the fire alarm kept going off after the pub had closed. Owner came back and sorted it. Again like I said not his fault.

The room was lovely, modern and clean. The beds were comfortable and the shower was very powerful. The pub itself was very quiet and all noise was gone by 10:30/11pm

Due to the age of the building the windows were thin which caused a draft at night and didn’t block out any street noise. However, the location was ideal as there wasn’t too much street noise and it’s to be expected from an older building.

Rooms were lovely and clean with all that was needed. Nice little shampoos and shower gels are a nice touch. Parking great The staff were great fun and very friendly.

Shame no breakfast available but not too difficult to find somewhere local .

This is the second time we have stayed there. The staff and locals are very friendly and helpful. The accommodation was clean and warm. Traveling to see local sights was easy as you were fairly close.

The website shows food and says it serves it but it doesn't and hasn't since before October when we first visited. So it is a bit disappointing.
