This marvellous hotel felt like it should have cost at least twice as much as I paid. The location was lovely and everything was so clean and comfortable. I stayed in the middle of a heatwave and as someone that struggles to sleep in heat and humidity, it was great that my duel aspect windows opened up fully allowing for the country air to breeze through. I slept very soundly! Moreover, the staff has kept the windows closed and curtains drawn through the day, so when I arrived the room was cooler than outside.

The Red Lion is in a gorgeous, peaceful location. Rooms were of a high standard, pub and staff were very friendly and helpful, food was devine. The breakfast box was generous, good quality and more than expected. Would definitely return and recommend to friends and family. Thanks for a lovely stay

A very slight thing. My brother in law said there was lots of herbal tea choices and coffee in the room but no standard breakfast tea, he would have liked that, otherwise, top notch in every way

We decided to stay in the self catering cottage attached to the pub. We were a little concerned about possible noise especially at closing time but needn't have worried. We had a completely undisturbed night. The cottage is spacious with a spacious living/dining room and well equipped kitchen. Downstairs toilet with two ensuite bedrooms upstairs. Sitting out area in cottage garden. Everything very clean and in good order. We decided to have dinner and breakfast in the pub. Food very good with extensive menus. Pub very popular so you need to book a table. The village of Hellidon is very picturesque and well worth a walk around, Every member of staff was extremely welcoming and hospitable. We couldn't fault the Red Lion and would certainly like to return.

Our stay at the Red Lion was fantastic. Great location, great staff, great facilities. We were astounded at the quality of the accommodation and the welcome from the staff. food was great and the quiet rural location was just what we were after. we will and already have recommended the Red Lion to friends. This place is well and truely top of our list of places to stay if we are in the area again.

We used booking.com as we were attending a wedding nearby. We chose The Red Lion as we liked the pictures and the pub seemed to be in a lovely location, and we were not disappointed at all. The village is beautiful as is the pub. We called ahead as we wanted an early check-in so we could change before setting off to the wedding. When we arrived, our room was ready as promised. We had booked a table for lunch and the food was absolutely amazing. Ian is a great host with an excellent sense of humour, as was Roger who couldn't have been more helpful. The room was modern, nicely decorated and had a very comfortable bed. The young cheerful girl that served breakfast was equally going out of her way to help. Breakfast was lovely and freshly cooked. Whilst we booked here because of the wedding, we have already decided that we will return with our dog (there are dog-friendly rooms) as the location is beautiful and there seem to be beautiful walks around.

It was just perfect. There really wasn't anything that could have improved our stay. Highly recommend this place

Lovely traditional village setting. Dinner was excellent - great traditional food, really well cooked, good service. Breakfast was continental style in the room which we knew about and it was fine. Fresh milk, cereals, croissants and cake along with hot and cold drinks. Cooked breakfasts are served at weekends. The nature of the building means the rooms are compact, although had what looked like a brand new good sized bathroom.

Lovely little find. Welcome was friendly. Room was a good size and very clean. Breakfast was a really good offering. We ate dinner in the pub and food was delicious and good value Great little place to stay

When I booked said breakfast included. Wasn’t clear it wasn’t a cooked breakfast having said that was pleasantly surprised and breakfast was good quality and plentiful.

Set in a stunning location this is a beautiful place to stay. Excellent food. Staff were extremely attentive and helpful and went the extra mile to make our staff perfect.

The bedroom only had a small mirror which for a lady always makes life a little difficult. The breakfast box was excellent, but would have preferred a full English.

The Red Lion is a lovely country pub with rooms. The bedroom was a good size and nicely furnished with a spotless big bathroom. The dinner menu had a good range of meals, and my choices of both starter and main were very good. Lovely friendly staff.

It's a small gripe but there isn't anything in the room to put your bag on.

The bedroom was modern, clean and its facilities were excellent The breakfast (Full English) was extremely good The setting of the Red Lion was peaceful and pleasant, beside a small village green and attractive countryside

It was not obvious that orange juice (or similar) was available for breakfast
