We loved the look of the pub and facilities it had to offer. The Chinese dinner was superb. The staff were friendly and attentive. The room was spacious and very clean. The choice at breakfast was totally acceptable.

During our stay there were issues with electricity. The emergency light stayed on in our room the whole night and it affected our sleep. In the morning during breakfast we couldn't use kettle or toaster and there are no members of staff to ask about it, which was unfortunate. My husband was upset for not being able to have toasted crumpets or toast with a cup of tea. I didn't mind as much as I normally have fruit and yoghurt and that was still available. Also light went out in the bathroom, which was a pain. However, this wouldn't put me off at staying there again, as I expect they would have sorted these issues immediately.

the manager and manageress were excellent. couldn’t be more helpful and welcoming. it felt safe and comfy which is great when your on your own. the on site Chinese takeaway is excellent. shower was good. bed was comfy. it was really clean. I’ll definitely be going back.

the only criticisms I have is there could have been a bigger mirror in the room. the only one was in the bathroom so had to stretch to see while drying my hair. not a big deal really. it would also be nicer to have taps that turned on and off rather than the push timer ones like public bathrooms. that’s the only thing that let it down. but not really the end of the world.

All so friendly and welcoming. A place full of character and charm. A Chinese takeaway actually on the premises .... not only that, you are allowed to eat it in the pub and plates/cutlery thrown in too! You would hardly know the takeaway was there though, it's all done so discreetly and it does not distract from the natural charm and warmth of the pub itself. Brilliant! Only stayed the one night (sadly) so I settled myself in the bar, had the takeaway with a pint, met some lovely people to have a few drinks and to chat with. The friendly owners also found time for a chat while they were working and made me/others feel most welcome. Just a brilliant evening which passed all too quickly. Room was just right. Clean and well presented. Coffee making facilities but no milk sachets! Perhaps a good thing as I was in need of a black coffee in the morning! Breakfast was provided, but can't comment as lunch is breakfast for me! I think breakfast was available for guests 6-10am. Checkout by 11am .... plenty of time in the morning, never felt pressured to leave.

The bar closing!

Lovely pub,in gorgeous little village, nice room, good bed, clean and comfortable. Breakfast basic but fine. Staff helpful. However be aware stairs up to the rooms are really steep. And the noise from pub pool rooms etc underneath the bedrooms was pretty awful, so no real rest until pub closed but it was a Saturday night😮possibly not the best choice to stay when needing to rest up 🙈.

Stunning quintessential village in the heart of England. Pretty stone built pub with a great landlord and friendly locals. No restaurant but a fab Chinese takeaway which guests can eat in the pub.

Some pretty lary Young Farmers shouting and swearing and throwing food around. Perfectly polite when spoken to and obviously having a lovely Friday evening in their local!

The staff were very friendly. We stayed the night as we went to a party in the village. We were able to let ourselves in the early hours and the help yourself breakfast and self checkout in the morning worked well.

Unfortunately there were no double bedrooms available so my husband and I had two single rooms. It was an exceptionally hot day and the rooms were quite small and stuffy, but they were clean and comfortable

Lovely bar and atmosphere in the evening. Nice room. New Landlords and I wish them well in getting the place back to what it should be. Breakfast was serve yourself.

A chinese franchise runs the kitchen but no food is available in the village on Tuesday evenings - the Red Lion in the next village does fine meals. The main light in the bedroom was poor.

Quiet location, good size room and bathroom. Friendly staff and accommodating to our early arrival.

The only thing I would find helpful is a step by step guide for working the coffee machine in the morning, as it was self serve breakfast. But if we were desperate for a coffee I know we could have asked.

It was a warm welcoming place with very helpful, attentive staff. It was well decorated and clean throughout and my room was spacious, well equipped, very clean and well decorated. The bed was very comfy and with the area being rural it was very quiet and peaceful allowing for a good nights sleep. There’s ample car parking and an easy check out process to leave as you wish. Breakfast in the morning was all laid out with plenty of options, juices and tea/coffee facilities. A coded door just for guests allowed for you to come and go as you need and is separate to the entrance/exit for the adjoining pub.

Perhaps air con or a fan during warm weather would be a welcome addition (my room was quite hot on one of the nights) and certainly would benefit from a long mirror and a big light in the room and above the mirror in the bathroom just to help when getting ready as I found it to be a bit dark.
