Excellent location for my needs . Dog friendly, which was my main criteria.

Room needs upgrading. Some light didn't work or plug sockets ,when I tried to plug my appliances in.but did Work with the lamps that was already plugged in . The rooms showing on the booking site wasn't anything like what I received as far as decor or bathrooms.

Location , warm ,welcoming , the main hotel has had some updating done on it ,was loverly .

We had a fantastic Christmas stay at Makeney Hall. The hotel was beautiful, very warm welcoming and festive. The staff were very friendly, attentive, nothing too much trouble. The room was very spacious, warm, clean and comfortable and had everything you needed and more . The food was delicious, well cooked, tasty and fresh. We will definatly return. It was lovely to arrive and hear the Christmas Carol's being sung in the garden, a beautiful touch to christmas. We will most definitely return and would highly recommend.

There was nothing we didn't like

The room we had on the first night was excellent and very comfortable. Food in restaurant extremely good and highly recommended. Problems on the second night were quickly and efficiently handled and we were moved to a suite which was lovely.

2nd night (on travelzoo voucher) we were put in a room which was dark and cold, Heating wasn't working - however, after complaining, we were moved to a suite which was fantastic and we had a wonderful night,

Good location for visiting Bakewell and Chatsworth

Originally we were in a court yard room which was very disappointing. Decor shabby, mirror damaged, odd blinds on the window and bathroom grubby. Room generally poor standard and not clean. Our friends room in the same area was worse. Reception staff were wonderful and immediately moved us both to upgraded rooms which were lovely. Only complaint would be, if those rooms were unoccupied why were we not offered those originally as they were empty and clearly much nicer for any guests.

The suite we were in was beautiful and a brilliant size for my wedding party to get ready in. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We asked for ice buckets and they arrived immediately. Even with a hiccup (our own fault) on check out the lady on reception was very understanding when we were a bit late! Perfect stay for us to just top off our amazing wedding!

Great hotel which was very clean and had a really good feel about it. Staff were helpful, polite and friendly. Had a very nice meal in the evening and drinks prices were very good. Breakfast was a little chaotic, possibly because it was so busy on the day we stayed and everyone went for breakfast at the same time but we enjoyed it.

One can only really rate a Hotel when things go wrong. A large wedding party meant that things were about to go wrong but the Hotel rose to the occasion, moved us into a quiet room and all was well

Not being warned about the wedding (best ask before booking) and the bathroom needed a total refit but these are minor points considering how they handled the issue and how much we paid for the room

Only stayed for one night so hard to give a detailed review but the suitecwas large, good en_suite and all furniture especially the bed was very comfortable. The hotel was reasonably quiet for our stay even though there was a wedding party in. Very nice veiws over the gardens from our suite.

Found a few bits of rubbish on the carpet and under the cushion of the chair, room was a little stuffy during the day and my wife thought the pillows where on the hard side, hot water was exceptionally hot. Very little information regarding the menu and the responses to questions via social media where a bit rude

The grounds are amazing and the pics don't do it justice. The rooms were clean with some modern touches. Plenty of room for parking and very comfy double bed. Nice flat screen TV and everything worked.

Some of the decor was a little dated and musty smell coming from some of the carpets in the corridors outside the room. Inside the room there were a few marks on the wall from shoes etc that could do with being painted over and some cobwebs on the windows.
