Extremely accommodating staff (see reasons below), they provided stress reducing hot chocolate for free; the room was clean, had lots of toiletries, spare towels, refreshments, tv, air con. Good hearty dinner, and excellent buffet breakfast. I enjoyed the sauna (free), and they have a gym, and parking.

In truth, my stay here was accidental. It is outside of my normal price range for hotels. My original hotel (301 @ Friary Street) cancelled my room without informing me stating that the heating/hot water was broken, but they still sold my room to someone else, again without telling me, after I had pre-paid, and only telling me on arrival. I can't state enough to avoid that hotel. I suppose if I have to nit pick, then they charge £5 a night for parking, and the dinner food whilst great is expensive, steak at £40+?

exceptional staff. who helped find places locally, sourcing a fan for the room in the middle of a heatwave and helpful during breakfast the foyer had clearly been recently refurbished and is beautiful, smells amazing and so welcoming. nice shower gel/hand wash. thought putting the sign out if you want your room cleaned was a much better idea than putting it out if you don’t want it cleaned. far better for the environment.

they haven’t spent as much on the bedrooms. our room only had a plug socket one side of the bed. not brilliant. tv remote didn’t work properly, batteries exposed. mattress slides off base of bed a lot! air flow/con was AWFUL- staff helped with sourcing a fan but the noise from the in-room system was awful.

The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. They went above and beyond. the breakfast was amazing and catered well to both gluten and lactose intolerance (I have never had such a selection to choose from). the bar in the evening was lovely, had a great time. The blackout curtains are great, I slept great.

the rooms were very basic for what was paid, it felt like they need revamping. the quilts are very thing, I wouldn’t like to stay there in the winter. we asked for blankets, the hotel doesn’t provide blankets but said they can provide a heater. the heater was broken when it arrived. however I didn’t need it in the end.

The hotel was functional. The room was fairly basic but had everything you needed for a comfortable stay. The shower was of a wet room type so plenty of room and the black out curtains are a great idea. The staff were all lovely and friendly. The breakfast was buffet style and very good although it was a bit cramped when busy. The car park was large but you had to pay £5 for overnight parking. The hotel was situated next to a huge out of town shopping area so plenty of shops, restaurants if you needed them. We had lunch in the bar area which was good although they had no draft beer and the bottles were very expensive. Checkout was midday which is great if you have had a late night. The bar is 24 hours so great for partying! The cost of our stay was very reasonable. I would be happy to stay there again.

Our key card only worked properly the first time we used it. The other 3 times we had to get it reprogrammed at reception which was a real nuisance.

Everything was great. Really friendly staff. Excellent evening meal. I am slightly disabled so to have a room with all the aids to help me was a great help. Everything was spotlessly clean.. breakfast again had a good choice. Nothing was too much trouble. would definitely stay here again when in Derby again.

Not the hotels fault but the banging of doors and people talking in the corridor at 4 am in the moring . Plus my daughter who had a room at the back of the hotel got woken up by deliverys to the kitchen at 5.30 am.

The reception staff were efficient and friendly. The room was clean. The shower was great, and there were toiletries available to use.

I thought at first the room looked sparse, with for instance, only a small table next to the bed and a few coathangers on a rail, but then I realised that it was probably an industrial look they were going for! The room was fairly expensive, but it was a bank holiday, and I booked it quite late. The room cardholder was coming away from the wall.

great price, the premises had all you need basically, and the location is great aswell.

missing a mini bar in the room. room is not soundproof enough. we stayed for a whole week and i can say we slept well from monday to thursday, when the hotel was obviously not so busy. on friday we were awaken by 3 drunk people at 4am, had to get out of my room and yell at them. saturday we could hear people on the corridor late at night, slamming doors and talking loud.

Only a short walk to / from Derby station. Lovely bar area and really delicious pizza. Great selection at breakfast. Room was a good size and had tea & coffee making facilities. Mirror was also right next to the hairdryer (so many hotels don’t do this!). Room was nice and quiet at night.

The mattress was a little hard but otherwise the room was spot-on. Free parking would have been preferable but £5 a day isn’t OTT

The location and the cleanliness is just spot on.I always look for Pentahotel everywhere i travel because i feel its one of the best in the country.

Maybe the staff who was helping us checking in was somehow off.It’s like she wasn’t bothered but by the way she might have personal problems or because she was tired etc which was a bit of a shame professionalwise but i won’t judge because we all do this sometimes without realising.

Overall the room was good, suited our needs for an overnight stay, good shower room and comfortable bed

We would have liked to eat our evening meal in your Restaurant but unfortunately when we looked at the menu in advance the prices were just far too expensive with a Steak being £42!! and Pizza £17!!, then drinks on top of this, we found this too much for a hotel restaurant so went to seven restaurant nearby
