Very friendly and approachable staff Excellent food. Very large full english breakfast. Continental type breakfast available with a good selection.. Bedroom and bathroom allthough a little tired were lovely and clean. Bar food was avalable, both at lunch and dinner and was of a very good standard. The gymnasium look well equipped although we didn't use it and of course you could have the experience of the spa. Good place to stay for a visit into any of the near by sea side resorts. Market town of Beverley only 25 mins away well worth a visit.

The car park at the side is a little small and tight, for the size of the hotel. First in bases. Although we managed to time it pretty well on both days. (Probably due to the gym, spa, and meetings taking place).

Beautiful building with lots of character features. Interesting place to stay. Room was huge - bigger than some flats! Black out curtains were brilliant. Very quiet to say it’s on a high street. Bedroom and bathroom was spotlessly clean. Much better than a modern hotel where every room is plain and boring. Good parking facility. Great location. Lovely accommodating staff. Breakfast was ok. Good selection.

The breakfast room could have been cleaner. (Crumbs on the table, lipstick marks on the cups, spillages on the chairs. Very dusty ornaments.)

Location excellent in the heart of this lovely town very close to good food outlets. Excellent gym - not new and glamorous, but large and with lots of sturdy well-used and maintained equipment. Quirky small but fun pool and jacuzzi in basement area. Charming older property. Very obliging and friendly staff. Tea coffee making facilities in rooms. Good size bath.

Due to its age the property has poor to no soundproofing. If you are a light sleeper you will struggle, even with ear plugs. I would suggest the manager puts up signs in the rooms asking guests to keep noise to a minimum but even then conversations in other rooms can be heard and if next door flushes the loo in the night or puts the taps on the sound is very obvious.

We loved the quirkiness of the hotel, which is in an excellent location. The hotel is full of charm and has lots of talking points not least the numerous writing desks and lecterns. The well was very neat. The room was clean and a good size; my wife loved having a separate lounge. The bathroom was compact and clean. Access to the leisure facilities consisting of swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna was very much appreciated. The facilities were looking a little tired in places but very welcome, nonetheless. The staff in both the hotel and the leisure facilities were very helpful, friendly and efficient. The full English breakfast was everything you want in a breakfast, a good selection of food served hot by friendly staff. My wife enjoyed the cereals and toast accompanied by lashings of tea, decaffeinated. We would be happy to stay in the future the location means very easy access to York.

Nice size room, hotel has 2 feature wells, fascinating pictures, objects, ornaments and furniture, lots of history, excellent breakfast and evening meal, and benefits from a swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. Parking a little tight but manage to park both nights. Staff very helpful and lovely and friendly. Happy to stay again in the future.

The wardrobe/ closet area only has one socket,so the kettle has to stand on top of the trouser press, which is not quite wide enough,so could do with an extension lead or a small shelf for the kettle to sit on better.

The bed was extremley comfy. The size of the room was fab

Can hear the toilet flush really loud from next door which woke me up a few times. Behind the bedside drawers where very dusty. Could benefit having a bin in the room

Stayed one night in an Executive Double Room. We loved the room, it was very big and decorated in an "Old World" style. The bed was also big and we had a very comfortable nights sleep. As a guest of the hotel we could use the spa facilities for free (excluding treatments) which was a bonus. The staff were all very friendly and polite. We had a very pleasant stay.

The room was a bit on the chilly side. It was a large room so it's probably hard to heat such a large space. We did try adjusting the valves but it didn't make a difference. Once tucked up in bed it was fine. Didn't like not having a fridge. It's nice to have somewhere to chill drinks. We were only staying one night so not a big problem. There was plenty of space (our room had a seperate sitting area from the bedroom) so a fridge could be installed. Coat hooks....somewhere to hang coats rather than on the backs of chairs would be great. This is something that many hotels overlook. Our room was big so a free standing coat stand could be put in the sitting area and would be in keeping with the decor. The bathroom suite was clean and functional but it could do with an update.

Good breakfast , bike storage, location

Didn’t like the room down in the cellar, even though the bedroom was street level it all smelled damp and musty. It was Saturday night and the noise outside went on until the early hours.

Traditional English inn with period features. Good size room with comfortable king size bed, large tv and separate seating area. Quirky and full of antiques. Not for Premier Inn fans. Very reasonable price.

Very creaky floor boards outside Room 9 . It’s a very old building ( over 250 years old) so to be expected but I was worried about disturbing others when we came in at night as it was so loud.

Excellent cooked breakfast in a wonderfully old and quant hotel. Staff very friendly and we were able to use the leisure facilities free of charge which was a lovely treat

Nothing really to dislike, this hotel dates back well over 200 years so you can't expect a huge car park and we managed to park ok. Because its old it is a bit creaky in places such as floorboards but I don't say that as any criticism, it's more than made up for in character
