great room with en-suite, powerful shower plus large bath! comfortable bed, very friendly, helpful & polite staff. Our Dog appreciated the treats provided by Sam, which were a nice touch! Plenty of tea, coffee, biscuits etc. for the humans in the room. Great range of drinks in the bar, very attentive service by Tracy, and excellent quality hot food. Dog was welcome in the bar. Excellent location in the town centre, on a quiet side street just off the market place. No passing traffic so generally no noise, except some un-avoidable delivery vehicles in the morning. (only to be expected in a town centre!) All the staff were faultless! Many Thanks.
Lots of stairs, so access may be difficult for some people, but its a very old building full of twists & turns, full of Character & history. Far preferable to the modern boxes that proliferate nowadays.

Excellent value. Own carpark at the back. Right in the centre lovely Richmond down a little road off the market place. Staff most helpful and friendly. Breakfast (included) had good range of choices including for vegetarians and vegans. Comfy bed, Nice pub atmosphere downstairs with convivial bar open plan with restaurant. Hotel was full but we weren't aware of noise from other guests.
Nothing can be done about this because it is an old historic building, but guests should be aware that accessing some rooms is via a number of small staircases and there is no lift. Not a negative (and it didn't impact on us) but something to be taken into consideration for people with mobility issues.

The quad family room is brilliant with 2 TV The beds really comfortable and clean sheets The tea making facilities excellent with great choices The food was excellent and Rachel was so helpful accommodating they boys request location perfect as a central base for exploring Richmond
Details to cleaning in the rooms as alot of dust and cobwebs in the bedrooms which did affect my asthma. No batm mat or handles on the bath which made it very slippy especially for the boys. Having dogs in the eating area at breakfast Were the could have been put in a different room or sitting e.g no dogs before 8.45 am.

The staff were lovely and were really welcoming. The room was perfect for our requirements and the fact that the hotel was dog-friendly is, for us, a major selling-point. We will certainly return.
The breakfast was nowhere near as good as it was when we stayed here in May 2022. At £12.95 it was also expensive compared with similar breakfasts that we had in cafes very near to the hotel. In addition, there was no 'continental' option. We understand that decisions to scale back the breakfast offer were taken at pub company level and not hotel level. When we stay again, we will not take breakfast in the hotel.

Staff were lovely and made a fuss of our dog and even left treats outside our room for her. Best dog friendly place I have come across.
Breakfast was a bit slow despite booking s time slot. Felt room was a bit expensive for what it was as was quite tired looking. Noisy guests at 6am with a barking dog that went in for ages and doors are quite heavy so slam when guests are leaving their rooms further down the corridor - realise hotel cant do much about that though as first night it was fine just second night had the early wake up call.

Great location, just a couple of minutes’ walk to the market square in Richmond. Very old cosy pub with friendly staff. Easy parking and if no spaces are available, there is ample parking in the square. Very good breakfast. It’s an old pub so I was surprised at the nice modern bedroom. The owners have obviously gone to a lot of trouble to make this a comfortable place to stay. The shower was not working properly so it was reported and, by the time we came back, the problem was sorted. Very impressed! Plentiful good quality tea and coffee in the room, fresh clean sheets. Lovely comfortable beds, I slept like a log!
Because of its age it has limitations so there is no lift and the stairs are a little wonky in places. I wouldn’t suggest it for the disabled. The bedroom was very nice but two small “bucket” chairs would add comfort. Finkle Street is quite noisy first thing in the morning when the traders are setting up!

I booked a family room at The Black Lion and was more than happy with the facilities, with the added bonus that it is dog-friendly. Large main bedroom with a double bed and then a separate twin room for the kids. There was free parking at the back of the pub, a nice bar area for food and drink, the staff were lovely and the location was excellent if you're there to see the castle. Not a complaint as it didn't affect me, but to get to our room (Room 7 I think) there were quite a few stairs to negotiate. Might not be suitable for those less mobile.

Location was spot on, step outside straight into middle of town, staff very friendly, food was good, had a problem with shower mentioned it after breakfast, was fixed by tea time, can't ask for more.
The whole place is looking tired, carpet coming away on stairs, surface clean is ok, but in need of a good bottoming clean, pillow were very flat and even though there were 2 it felt like I didn't have one.

Everything.Best pub in the town.Take no notice of reviews .Other pubs must butting them on.Going to book Kings Head at first.Glad I did,nt,all outside show and would not take cash at the bar, very rude. You should be given the option.Everywhere else did and my money was spread amongst them. Free Parking at the Black Lion a massive bonus to and Cheaper than over rated Kings Head.
Nothing .Spot On.

Great location, very close to a great 10k circular walk around the waterfall/river. Super friendly staff, comfortable bed and room very clean. Had a fabulous meal in the evening, very reasonably priced
It was a bit of a surprise that the bathroom was across the landing accessible with a key, however that was or fault for not reading the room description properly. We took our small dog who was made very welcome however be aware there is no grassed area to the property
