The Edward Hotel

A well-situated, very reasonably-pricedhotel with excellent parking (a rarity in Gloucester City Centre!). Good sized, spotlessly clean, comfortable room with excellent supportive beds. Our room at the back of the hotel was very quiet and peaceful with a good shower and toilet. Coffee and tea facilities were provided and generous. The hotel operates in an eco-friendly way regarding room management and we liked this. The hoteliers were friendly and very informative about Gloucester regarding local sights and good restaurants as was the useful picture gallery in the hotel. Provision of a microwave and small fridge was appreciated as were the modern plug sockets for charging phones and laptops. Thank you

The Edward hotel was a very homely environment with friendly helpful staff. The room was on the ground floor as requested . It was spacious with its own small en-suite. The room was by the side entrance which lead out to the garden , and also into the dinning area where breakfast was served. The hotel did not have a restaurant as such but it did have a microwave and a small fridge in the room. This was not a problem for us as there are plenty of restaurants and pubs within the town centre. The hotel was clean and you do not get disturbed with room service and cleaning. The hotel issues you with a key to which you let you self in with at the front door or side entrance which also opens your room door. It also had a bottle opener on the key ring which was a nice touch. The hotel was centrel to the city centre and the areas where you can visit such as the cathedral and venues for weddings and parties. Lovely little hotel which we would stay in again. I felt that the meeting area where the TV was situated was to dark.

A very comfortable and pleasant hotel, highly individual, with interesting and thoughtful features. My room was excellent, lots of space to lounge, a very comfortable bed. The staff were friendly and welcoming to exactly the right degree. Very good breakfast. Free parking.

Nothing of significance. Some of the town is looking desolate now, but Gloucester boasts a superb cathedral, and the extensively developed docks and quays areas are appealing. We found some good cafes and restaurants, and there are some antique and vintage emporiums that are well worth a visit. A shame that the Gallery in the Museum was temporarily closed.

Though we were booking at quite short notice, we were able to obtain a suitable room. The online booking system worked well including fulfilment of a minor request --- Earl Grey tea! On arrival, we received a friendly and helpful welcome. Our room was spacious and characterful. We had a very comfortable bed. Everything in the room was clean and in good working order.

The only drawbacks were minor. Recent repainting of woodwork on stairs close to our room, though very clearly declared with "wet paint" signs, was slightly off-putting. There was no breakfast menu, and there was less choice than at other broadly similar hotels where we've stayed.

We had a spacious triple room on the top floor. The building is old with slightly uneven floors. Decor a tad dated but not scruffy and everything was clean. Good cooked breakfast. Hotel has its own car park at the back which was convenient. There was a nice lounge area with an inglenook fireplace which was lit on one of the nights we were there.

Had to try and attract the attention of staff at breakfast time, but that might be because it was quiet. More choice at breakfast buffet would have been nice such as fruit and yogurt, but not essential and we certainly didn't go hungry.

the husband & wife team proved to be a charming couple. Breakfast (cooked by the wife) was excellent the full Monty consisted of 2 eggs, sausage, rashers of bacon, tomatoes, beans and toast. Tea & fruit juice as normal. My room was very clean and comfortable and the bed comfortable. I have no adverse comments to make and I would certainly recommend the hotel. The cost per room, the cleanliness, the food were all of a very high standard.

There was nothing I disliked

I didn’t take breakfast as I never do. The single room was a good size, with a microwave and fridge, and a very good sized TV I had everything I needed. The bed was very comfortable and the lighting was also good. Shower room was a good size, with very good water pressure, and easy to use. Towels were also a very good size and quality. Parking was well designated, and even when returning late there was still a space.

For the price and services provided, there was nothing to dislike

The location was excellent we where in walking distance to the town centre which included a shopping mall restaurants from every corner of the world the cathedral for a guided tour of just £6.00 was brilliant considering other cathedral's will charge £39.00 there is so many little side streets to explore we found a lovely pub called the fountain down one and also a lovely little shop called the candle shop down another 😀

It was my mistake I didn't realise they didn't do evening meals but found plenty in town with in walking distance

Very welcoming Gentleman at reception. Room was ready at point 1pm. My room had 2 single beds and 1 doouble beds. Plenty of space. Microwave, TV (with netflix), Airconditioning Unit (didnt use it but worth mentioning and very very clean. Parking at rear. Walking distance to town centre, train and bus station. I got more for what I paid for. I travel alot and rarely leave reviews and only do so when I had a very positive experience. I definitely 100% recommend a stay here.

From the moment we arrived we were looked after by the owner & his team. Nothing would have been too much trouble. The decor was the pride of Gloucester, we have never seen so much information. As well as all the local information the owner was able to provide us even more personal knowledge. The room was clean, light and airy with a superb bed. We had the best nights sleep. Breakfast was fresh, hot and one of the better breakfasts we have had. Gloucester was only a short walk away. We are already planning to visit in the summer.

The snow, nothing to do with the hotel, all paths were cleared and safe.
