Friendly responsive staff Booked early check in because going to wedding but room wasn't prepared in time. However, able to leave luggage in room and check in - and refunded cost of early check in.
Internet access was lousy. However hotspot via my mobile was equally poor so I suspect it is general coverage in the area.

Room was very well appointed and had loads of English charm while maintaining modern conveniences. Very comfortable stay and windows allowed for fresh air and natural light. We pre-paid for the breakfast and it was well worth it. Extensive continental buffet, plus choice of freshly prepared hot entree from menu. There was ample parking onsite and off of the busy street. Was a perfect location while in transit between larger cities.
The restaurant closed rather earlier than we expected, and it was even very difficult to find a sit-down dinner in the vicinity after 8 pm. Just the area as a whole, rather than a fault of the hotel, but be prepared to have dinner early when visiting the region. The breakfast room and food were excellent. It was a bit odd that it was completely silent. The room was full of guests, but we all whispered, so as to not have our conversaton overheard. I appreciated the lack of TVs, but having some classical music piped in would add to the historial experience and make it less awkward.

Appearance of building, history of it, lovely bar areas. Great staff, cosy bedrooms, nice shower. Wonderful to be able to take our little dog.
They had run out of eggs for my breakfast. Slight stain on sheet. Internal refurb going on during our stay, but it didnt inconvenience us, and so no problem.

Room booked as small double and was certainly compact but still had all expected facilities and was a good price too. Evening meal average but adequate. Breakfast, however, was really good, maybe the best Full English I have ever had previously in similar overnight accommodation! If we return to Gloucester we will stay here again.
Because the room was compact both my wife and I constantly stubbed toes and banged shins on the protruding bed legs that restricted the access to the en-suite bathroom. Suggestion: both bed frame and legs are wooden and a handyman could easily reposition the legs, (at the foot of the bed), onto the inside of the frame out of harms way and increase the access around the room.

Communication was very good and they acted on requirements we had specified. Assigned a ground floor room as one person disabled. Dietary requirements advised and they emailed confirmation that they could cater for that. The room was recently decorated and another room near ours was being worked on so it's well maintained. On arrival we were courteously met and the young lady went through the various options for food etc and then showed us directly to the room. Decided to have an evening meal at the hotel, and whilst a little expensive it was an excellent meal. Breakfast was also very nice and freshly cooked. For both meal and breakfast the staff were very polite and helpful.
The water pressure in the shower was just ok. No other issues.

Location is good, hotel is lovely, all staff are lovely and very helpful, excellent restaurant and good bar offering some very good beers, spirits and wines.. the rooms are large and extremely clean and easy parking..
only downside was the noise.. we stayed in room 2 next to the fire door from the bar and the front door from the car park and the 1st night I literally had no sleep whatsoever thus totally ruining the next day through lack of sleep.. from 23 hours till dawn there were many people coming and going making lots of noise and doors slamming, the 2nd night was a little better but still very little sleep.. otherwise all good but I would personally recommend staying here but definitely NOT in room 2

The property messaged affirming our bed choice and replied promptly when I had to change our eta. We were made to feel very welcome. We had booked an evening meal. One of us is coeliac and the waitress took extra care to ensure the chosen meal was safe, checking with the kitchen regarding up to date supplies, not just relying on menu info. (Separate fryers are a bonus here, chunky chips were goooood). Staff in the morning were equally attentive, and breakfast was cooked on order. Don't rush off, you'll do yourself a disservice
The artificial fire noise from the TV didn't quite hit the mark for breakfast atmosphere but it was perfectly in keeping in the evening. And if that's the worst I can say.......

The building is beautiful, a really old thatch building with beautiful grounds. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We had a full English breakfast, which was really good. There were lots of hot selections and cold continental options laid out on the bar.
We had booked into their small double room. This should really be a single room. There was only one bedside table with lamp, and barely any room between the bed and the walls. The mattress was very soft, which if you like that is fine. However, we prefer a firmer mattress. Otherwise, it was a lovely room, clean and tidy.

Clean fresh room. The Tea and Coffee and toiletries were a nice touch. Linen and Towels like new. The fan was essential and appreciated, as was the shade from the lovely Oak Tree outside my window. And to be able to actually open the windows. Quiet and peaceful. Comfy pillows Bar and Restaurant area were lovely.
I chose a small double as just me, which was absolutely fine, but, the shower cubicle was so small. I'm 5'9" and struggled. A small thing, really. Not a problem.

We booked the property because we wanted to enjoy a stay in a period property. We were pleasantly surprised with the modern room which was spotlessly clean. The busy bar did not affect our stay in any way. The young waitress at breakfast was very polite and cheerful even after attending to earlier guests. Please give her a big plus.
Again, we could not fault the property, and would have gladly rebooked, as Gloucester turned out to be a most enjoyable city to wander around.
