The food was lovely. The staff were very helpful. Public areas were beautifully decorated.

The menu was used for 2 nights and then changed. The service on certain sittings was not great. It depended on who was on duty. One night we waited 2 hours to finish dinner. One breakfast, the service was not good. There were marks on the carpet in the bedroom. The bathroom door had obviously got wet and the wood rotted and had only been painted over.

We booked to stay for a night to meet old friends over Christmas. We got an upgrade on arrival to a larger room, with a fourposter bed. Had a great view over the front of the hotel towards Grange and the bay. This is a lovely historical hotel, located in the town where I grew up, with a pool and spa downstairs to enjoy and relax in.

The hot breakfast buffet was a bit limited. Staff were standing around, but not clearing the plates away. Shame they don't offer a silver service, or orders from the kitchen for the hot meals. Our bathroom was quite dated - we could not get the shower to run hot water, so had to run the bath to have a proper wash.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Grange Hotel and I must say it was absolutely perfect. From the moment I arrived, the staff were welcoming and went above and beyond to ensure my comfort. The room was spacious, immaculately clean, and beautifully designed, with thoughtful touches that made it feel like a home away from home. The bed was incredibly comfortable, guaranteeing a restful night's sleep, and the bathroom was luxurious. The hotel’s location was ideal, close to all the attractions yet tucked away enough to offer a peaceful retreat. I had the chance to dine at the on-site restaurant, and the food was exceptional—delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented. The experience at the Spa was incredible, especially the Jacuzzi. Overall, my experience at The Grange Hotel was flawless. It truly exceeded my expectations, and I can’t wait to return. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a relaxing, luxurious getaway.

If,like me, you appreciate country House Hotels, The Grange will match and probably exceed your expectations. Set elevated above the town, it commands stunning views over Morecambe Bay. January may not have been a good time to explore the grounds, but it is easy to appreciate how delightful they would be in warmer seasons. Had it been later in the year,I feel sure the front terrace would be very inviting for a drink or light meal. Inside, the building is bright and cheerful with a simple but stylish bar area. The seating arranged over several rooms, allowing for areas suitable for those wishing to quietly read a book. My room was traditionally furnished, and I enjoyed views over the town. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. Although, if you are a staying as a couple, you might find it a little snug. Without exception, the staff were friendly and helpful, and importantly, genuine in wanting guests to be comfortable. The spa area, with its pool, hot tub, steam room, and sauna, was a great place to relax. I was lucky enough to enjoy a deeply relaxing massage. I believe the highlight of my 5 night stay was the food. Breakfast is a mixture of buffet and table service. It's as good and probably better than many similar hotels. If you fancy a change to the usual, full English. I recommend the American pancakes, also the haddock with poached egg. Bar meals were equally good, as was the afternoon tea. For fine dining, my meals in the Carriage Restaurant were exceptional, and I recommend you try it at least once. I will certainly be staying again, hopefully when the weather is warmer and the days longer.

Car parking is limited, although I had no problem whatsoever. I imagine at busier times of the year it mighty be a little frustrating. A possible solution might be to clearly mark out the bays so more cars could be accommodated.

The hotel is set up high and the entrance is facing the train station and bus stops. We booked one of the atrium rooms, but was given a much larger room on the first floor and we discovered that the atrium rooms were being refurbished, and according to one of the many workmen we saw, the whole hotel is receiving a makeover that will take a few months to complete. The room itself was large and had a shower, but no bath. All the facilities you needed were there and the service staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast had enough variety to suit everyone and, again, the staff were pleasant and helpful. We ate in the bar area on the first night and the food, although a bit limited, was very nice. The second day we travelled to Kendal by bus, so ate there, and the third night the local Indian restaurant was recommended, so we tried this too. The hotel reception staff were very helpful and pleasant and helped with every query we had. Like other reviews on here, we also found the steam room out of action, but we still had the pool, jacuzzi and steam room to use. I did telephone reception a couple of days before travelling to ask about disabled parking, as in an email I’d received stating that parking was on a first come basis and was told that there are a few disabled spaces near the entrance, but I did find that vans and other non-disability vehicles were parked there too, but we still managed to find a space. Also, while speaking about the parking I explained that my wife had recently fallen and was on crutches, so the receptionist said she would allocate us a room near to the lift, which was very thoughtful and kind. We enjoyed our break away here and would go again.

See above.

The hotel is beautiful and the gardens are wonderful. The spa facilities were fantastic after a day on the road travelling. Our room was very large and very comfortable and the bathroom was enormous with a separate bath and shower. We would like to return next time we are travelling South from the Highlands as a stopover.

Breakfast was a bit disappointing, mainly due to lack of staff so hot foot was not getting replaced to keep up demand of the guests, so availability was poor. It wouldn't put us off returning though, as we understand that the hospitality sector is struggling to get staff post Brexit.

This was my second stay at The Grange Hotel, and once again, it was a wonderful experience! The staff were as friendly and helpful as ever; nothing is ever too much trouble! The lady on reception was great and made us feel very welcome. The location is perfect, in a beautiful town right next to the train station. The buffet breakfast had a fantastic selection and was a great way to start the day. We also enjoyed a lovely evening meal at the hotel. I’m looking forward to seeing the renovations when they’re complete; it will give the place more of a modern, up-to-date look. I will definitely be returning once they’re finished! Overall, I would highly recommend 'The Grange’.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful setting right across the road from the train station. It was so peaceful and very quiet. They offered a huge amount of choice for breakfast with the hot food cooked lovely. The very best thing about the hotel though was the staff. Without exception, they were all professional whilst being friendly and so helpful. It came across that they all really loved their job at the Grange Hotel. Can't praise them enough. All in all - total value for money. Thank you.

There was nothing I didn't like, although, if I have to mention one thing, the beds could possibly use a mattress topper (well the one I used anyway. However, I do know that the hotel will be going through a make-over bit by bit later this spring so maybe they maybe upgrading their beds.
