The public areas were very nice and well decorated . The rooms were ok but basic although the room was clean . The food is good apart from my pie being under cooked on the first night and my Hunters chicken not having any bacon on ,both these issues were put right immediately . The hotel is set in a lovely wooded and grass area , we always got a parking spot when returning from a day out .

The extractor fan in the bathroom was useless , everything in the bathroom was wet for hours after a shower infact we reported it as not working but were told that it was , the basin plug lever broke on our last morning so I couldn't use the basin after my husband as it was full of used water . We had scaffolding outside our window due to roof retiling but were not told about this on check in .

The staff, the food were excellent. The staff were very efficient and friendly but very professional at the same time. The hotel was busy but my wife is Coeliac, even so, the staff catered for her with a full gluten free menu, something you don’t get at many hotels. The food was hot, good and well presented.

We were allocated a room dedicated for disabled but had we realised at first, we would have asked to change. Whilst I applaud this, unfortunately everything was far too low in the bathroom. We also had to re-make the bed prior to getting in as it had obviously been changed in a rush. Although a minor point, it is very relevant after a long day. We would stay there again but in a different room.

The whole hotel was busy which was good and the facilities met and exceeded our expectations. The car park was overcrowded but we were able to use the EV chargers wqith no difficulty. The hotel was lage enough to absorbe all the guests without being too crowded and we were able to book a meal as we arrived without dificulty. The food was good and delivered very speedily.

The bar service was slow, maybe because it was understaffed, but getting a drink whilst eating a meal was too long. I had finished the meal before my second glass of wine had arrived. Late afternoon the rooms were cold (English summer problem) and the heating in the room only kicked in later in the evning.

Reception was good, friendly and informative. Breakfast was good and staff were attentive, friendly and helpful. Any cleaning staff that we saw in the corridors made a point of saying hello. Hotel was clean and tidy at all times, inside and out.

Bathroom needed a bit of maintenance. The toilet in room 231 was never able to finish flushing, it continued to run a small amount of water, the hotel could save on their water bill if they fixed it. Toilet was also difficult to flush, the press button needs a bit of maintenance. Would have liked to have been able to open the adjoining door with room 233 (our other room). Otherwise all good.

The staff were very helpful and friendly, the suite was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good. Asked if they could make porridge with dairy free milk for me, no problem at all Restaurant food was really good, but it could have had a few more vegetarian options. I only had a choice of 2 pizzas and a lentil shepherd's pie.

The suite looked like it used to be 2 bedrooms, which had been joined together, as the lounge had wardrobes and a bathroom in it. A coffee table would be good (shown in webpage picture but not in room) Looks like a country hotel, but that's just the front. Looking out of our windows, you see tatty old caravans and the car park. One of our windows was covered in bird droppings. Car parking is a bit hit and miss as there are no lines, so some people were inconsiderate by parking with large gaps and using the space of 2 cars.

Lovely gardens and outside seating area. The bird of prey centre was nice to visit and free if staying in the hotel Room comfortable with everything needed for a 1 nights stay.

As it was hot we kept the window open, from early morning smokers were sat on the benches chatting and smoking, a large coach then pulled up and cases were being packed, then more people were milling around outside the room, thankfully we were going out early, no noise during the night in the corridor but plenty of noise from the smokers in the morning. The bar area was quite busy at times as a wedding was going on but that didn't bother us. Although my partner did have to pick up a guy who'd fallen off the toilet and I had to unlock another's guys door as he was too drunk. And both of these were before 8pm. Made us giggle.

Great location, set in its own beautiful grounds, close to the A18 just north of York Friendly and helpful staff Good value accommodation Great restaurant, the many has something for everyone, big portions and good value food. The York Bird of Pret Centre is also based in the grounds and was a fantastic place to go for a family visit

Parking seemed limited when we arrived but there is plenty of overflow parking round the back of the hotel

The hotel is beautiful, the staff are exceptional cannot do enough for you. The twin room we had was dated but very clean and warm which is what you want in cold weather. The bar and restaurant and reception area are very modern and extremely comfortable. The bird of prey centre on the grounds is 5 star.

My son loves a hot chocolate though their was plenty of tea and coffee on the complimentary tray their was no hot chocolate which was a little disappointing. Paid for breakfast I don't like a cooked breakfast the continental selection was poor the fruit was not nice , their were no pastries just toast. My son would have liked hash browns other than those couple of things everything else was spot on.

The main rooms in the hotel like the bars reception and dining room were all to a high standard. The staff were friendly and helpful. The lift was useful as we had requested a ground floor room and it was not available. The food was lovely and reasonably priced.

Our room was tiny. The mattress was extremely hard, which was not good when I have hip problems. The extractor fan in the bathroom was not working, and there was a sign saying to keep the door closed when the shower was in use, so we had to have the window open, which was awfully cold 🥶 the first day of snow. We found parking very difficult after being out all day and had to park all the way round by the ambulance station which was a bit of a walk round in the snow.

The hotel was lovely. Lots of outdoor space. Food was lovely and great value for money. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Yorks Bird of prey centre a 3 minute walk away.

Pity that the size of the hotel, its lovely big room and its location they dont have any evening entertainment. (A bit out of the way so if you want a good night without driving anywhere you wont really find it here) After dinner most people just went back to their room, where after talking to guests they would have stayed down and spent more money over the bar if they had a reason too. The bar area was cold and uninviting. Shame as it would bring more money to the hotel.
