The oaktree inn was nice great staff unfortunately we had no heating when we arrived, we advised the bar staff and they said that they would get maintainance to look into it. However it was not sorted and the manager offered us an alternative room on the upper floor. We declined as it was not too cold. There was a bit if confusion about the breakfast on the first day. We had breakfast and when I asked how I pay it I was advised that I had paid in my booking maybe some crossed wires there. So I noticed later on the card that I use for this purpose was charged £32.00 for two breakfast ( bit excessive for what we had ) we could have breakfasted in York loads cheaper. All in all the Oaktree is lovely but I do not think that we would rebook. Its easy to get to York if you park and ride, some 25/30 minutes drive. There is absolutely nothing in the village / street and the hotel had very short closing hours It did what it said on the tin regarding the Oaktree but was not for us. Thanks to all at the Oaktree in x 👍👍

The ONLY thing that we didn't like was its approximately 16 miles from York, but in saying that its an easy drive to the Rawcliffe bar park and drive £ 7.50 return we did it × 3 it was ok. If you wanted to have a drink i.e bar lunch or meal out in York you are restricted re alcohol and driving legislation. Overall the Oaktree inn is brilliant. Good luck to all at the Oaktree .

A very last minute booking for a stopover en route to Norfolk from Cairnryan and definitely one of the best spur of the moment decisions we've ever made. Our room was cosy, spotlessly clean, warm and so comfortable - we had an amazing night's sleep - the spa bath was a surprising and perfect addition. Our evening meal was truly memorable and absolutely delicious. Steve the chef even took time to explain how he was putting his own spin on the dishes and personally presented us with a perfect chocolate fondant - such a shame I can't upload the video - it was a real "Masterchef moment"! Special mention as well to the lovely lady who greeted and served us and brought treats for our dog. With it's picturesque village setting with lovely walks on the doorstep we will definitely return next time we're on a road trip. Thank you.

Attentive staff, delicious food, cosy atmosphere, clean as was the room. Very welcoming. Would definitely return if we're out that way and highly recommend.

Our stay was perfect really, only cc was that the expresso coffee machine baffled me ha, wasn't sure which pods had what in etc however I could have asked staff and I'm 100%sure they would have helped, but we were leaving shortly after so I didn't bother. Maybe have some instructions for espresso machine virgins 1

We wanted a couple of nights somewhere nice to celebrate our 27th Anniversary with the dog and be positioned to drive into Ripon or Harrogate without paying City prices.. The location was great in a small quiet village combining well its history and modern improvements. Although there are no other village amenities , this wasn't a problem for us as all we wanted was pleasant views to walk the dog and the village has these in abundance with some lovely cottages converted from the original shops and services. At the Oak Tree Inn We liked the friendly staff , especially towards our little dog who lapped up the attention and enjoyed the dog cushion they gave him in the beer garden. The beer garden itself was very nice and clean and a great suntrap in the afternoon. The evening meals were delicious and I recommend the Steak and ale pie with a nice pint of Theakstons. The room was larger than expected and quaint and no complaints.

We had a lovely one night stay at The Oak Tree Inn for my Sisters birthday. We were hoping to stay for a nice evening meal, a few drinks in the bar and a good catchup as we hadn't had chance to get together for a number of weeks. Unfortunately we hadn't realised that they stopped serving food at 4pm on a Sunday and the bar closes at 8pm too. Seeing our disappointment and not wanting us to be hungry the manager agreed to ask the chef to ensure we got something to eat and swiftly prepared for us a big bowl of fries and some yorkshire puddings and cauliflower cheese with some bread and butter. Not quite an evening meal but it definitely filled a gap and we were very grateful. Thank you

They did not serve breakfast

I stayed in Oak room and the only thing missing there was a fridge/mini bar. Other than that the room has a decent size, huge bed with 6 pillows, amazingly comfortable, anything what you would need in the bathroom, bath and shower whatever makes you clean and happy more, 2 bottle of water provided, big mirror and I really liked the décor. I haven't had a meal there so nothing to say here.

No fridge/mini bar in the room Lack the info about breakfast on the website, in the emails and in the hotel itself Meals and ale's rather expensive

Location great, 15 mins from A1. Nice local footpaths and fields for dog walks. Great beer garden area, provided dog beds if required. Comfy bed, large room. Food quality good and value for money.

Very noisy and screeching pipes in bathroom went on all night. Called 2 weeks before to ask for ground floor room with dog as advertised on here, assured would be ok but put on first floor.

Lovely room (Lime room). The spa bath with separate shower was a bonus. The large bed was very comfortable, with plenty of space in the room. Excellent food ( evening meal and breakfast) with an uncomplicated menu. All the staff (including the chef) were very friendly and attentive. A lovely place to stay. Would be happy to return.

We were happy with everything

Lovely room, big bathroom, plenty of storage, comfy bed. Good breakfast.very dog friendly.. even supplied cushions for them in the bar. Very quiet location.. lots of fab walks...

they had a party one night. which was fine.. we did go for a bit.. but the very loud music continued til after 2230 and our room was right above the music.. I think it could have been turned down earlier.. apart from that fantastic stay..

Lovely place in beautiful location. Both accommodation and food met expectations.

A large window in the room I stayed in overlooked the approaching traffic on the small road opposite. It would be of benefit to at least half cover the window with a net curtain to protect the modesty of the room guest. Pulling the curtains each time a shower is taken darkens the room and is frustrating. A mild criticism, but important. Otherwise, the stay was excellent.
