Nothing was too much trouble! It had been a really hot day, but the room was deliciously cooled by a portable air conditioner before we arrived. We had dinner there as well, and thank goodness we booked, because it's very popular - and this was a Monday night. We had dinner in the garden and it was excellent. The beds were very comfortable, the bathtub very welcome, and the breakfast good quality. It was quiet and a really welcome rest stop on our travels round North Yorkshire. It's not exactly on the tourist trail, but if you were planning to go to Fountains Abbey nice and early, as we were, it's perfect.

We are on a long cycling trip Lands End to the Orkneys and stayed for 2 nights as a rest before we continued. It felt like we were in a small French hotel busy with good food A friendly staff team with extra sensitive touches that made it special i.e. Candles on a grey wet morning, staff who took the time to chat and make you feel valued and being given mints for our onward cycling journey to help with roaring sore throat. One of our visiting friends ate gluten free foods and the serving staff knew the ingredients of dishes when asked which was impressive and reassured them Also liked the safe storage for our bikes, the a polite knock at our door when our visiting friends arrived for lunch, white clean linen and large comfortable bed Thanks

"This vehicle is reversing" loudly and the crashing of the collection of glass before 7.00 in the morning!! (Room 3) Green credentials not obvious.The bins were lined with plastic bags which were replaced everyday when hardly filled, the changing of towels everyday not being offered the option to keep them. Felt a bit cramped by the number of cushions, the bed cover, air con unit large lamps by the bed as well as wall lights and items on the desk.

What a wonderful hotel!!! Warmly greeted on arrival, easy check in. Rooms spotlessly clean with lots of thoughtful extras fresh bottled milk, bottled water , boiled sweets, coffee machine even a hot water bottle!! The welcoming relaxed ambiance of the bar and restaurant where the food was absolutely delicious . The extra special part of our stay was of course the genuinely friendly staff, from the lady who served our drinks at the bar ( I'm sorry I never caught your name but you know who you are) to the attentive waitresses, the housekeepers we met in the morning and the very lovely Joe who served our breakfast! We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience!! Thank you.

Nothing to dislike!

The staff were all lovely. The inside of the building is really lovely and our room was super consisting of a living room, bedroom and huge immaculate bathroom. Good quality towels and lovely shower gel. We had breakfast which was excellent with a full vegan menu for those that want vegan. We both had the Full Yorkshire breakfast with excellent quality bacon and sausages. Friendly staff.

The property has been painted dark grey which doesn’t compliment the property. The hotel is far better than the first impression as you approach it.

this was our 3rd stay at the Grantham Arms and was the 2nd time we booked dinner. Our first dinner experience was a disaster which is why we did not have dinner on our 2nd visit. However, dinner last night was excellent! Delicious food and wonderful service. all staff were welcoming, helppful and polite. breakfast, as always, was supberb... although we did miss Joe! The young waitress who looked after us was great and saw to our every need. Our room was very comfortable, bed linen was of good quality and the bed really comfortable. We had booked a small room, it had everything we needed, it was well equipped and well decorated.

We cannot comment on any dislikes as we were very happy with everything.

Fantastic staff, food was off the scale (we didn't believe that a poached egg could be crispy, but it was - and it was perfect!) everyone so helpful, dog friendly. As all other reviewers say, loved the quirky touches and decorations. And who can resist a place which provides an honesty box for snacks? Excellent base for exploring 2 x adjoining AONBs. Fab.

We had assumed a more rural location, but that's our fault - nothing misleading in the descriptions, we had just assumed open fields although I have no idea why! And there's limited off-road parking which, again, the owners can do nothing about.

From the first hello to the last goodbye the staff in all departments were so friendly! The rooms were bright,well equipped and immaculately clean! We didn’t have dinner here but I could see the quality of food being taken to the tables and the happy diners! The breakfast was excellent, freshly cooked and a great choice for all palates ! Will certainly return to this welcoming and friendly place

Can’t think of anything ! Everything about the hotel suited our needs and I wouldn’t hesitate to return or to recommend it to others!

Hi just have to say we had to cancel due to a family bereavement however we had to give these guys too marks for everything as we have popped in for a cheeky half once or twice so we knew how lovely it was. The gentleman who cancelled our booking for us could not have been more polite, caring, understanding and helpful. He really reassured us and took the time to offer his condolences. We were so looking forward to our trip.

Nothing everything was handled in an exemplary fashion.so nice to be treated with such grace and dignity. Will definitely be booking up again when our lovely mum in law is laid to rest.

Lovely stay, staff were very friendly and helpful. Coffee machine in the room was much appreciated as was the choccy bar and black out curtains! Nice soft furnishings made the room cosy and inviting. Good water pressure in the shower, plenty of hot water, comfy bed. We also had an evening meal which was very tasty. Excellent value for money stay and we would stay again.

The bed in our original room was quite rickety but when mentioned we were swifty moved to a different room with a divan without any problem. Thank you. Only reasons for 9/10 not 10/10 was a broken bathroom floor tile ripe for a stubbed toe and a glitchy TV but neither detracted from our stay.

The staff were excellent everyone made us very welcome. They went above and beyond can’t rate them highly enough

Restaurant food was a bit hit and miss but overall standard of food was good. Kitchen staff smoking below our window after 10pm were to be honest quite noisy especially has we had a very early start. Beware of slippy shower has one of our party slid and fell in the shower. Could be dangerous we advised them hope they look at this as someone could be badly hurt.
