We wanted to do a good walk on Boxing Day, followed by a cozy pub with food and drink without having to drive. The location of the Nags Head is perfect for this. The beers are excellent, and varied. The game pie was excellent. Grindleford Cottage is small, but comfortable (and we knew this before we booked). The welcome was warm, the atmosphere great.

We were travelling as a family so the bunk beds in the 2nd bedroom were not a problem for us. However, would be something to consider if travelling as separate adults.

Excellent location with gorgeous views out the window, lovely and friendly staff as well. Pub has an excellent selection of beers as well. We had a fantastic stay and would definitely book here again.

It would have been good to have a heads up about the barrel run on the Saturday as we couldn't park when we got back from our day out, but staff were helpful and it was easily resolved.

Location was super - everything close at hand - the train station was just a short walk down the lane - two pubs and two cafes to choose for food - a well stocked shop over the road if you wanted to cook for yourself - the fabulous walks literally on your doorstep - a beautiful church to walk round and great weather!

The fact that we only had a short stay;-(

Excellent location for finishing the Pennineway Southbound, and the staff were incredibly! So much so I booked another night and in again in December . The staff here bend over backwards to make sure you have a great stay, from accepting a parcel for my wife to bring me epsom salts for my swollen feet. Absolutely amazing staff . Great food and beer also .

The property is an excellent as a base in Edale for walking.

Bedding and towels were clean, however, the bin hadn’t been emptied from the previous guests which was disappointing. Our one night stay was £170 which we found to be expensive for mid-September. We ate in the pub and only used the hob for breakfast - the hob wasn’t particularly user friendly in terms of regulating heat and we wouldn’t have wanted to try and cook a meal on it.

Absolutely beautiful place so much character, great staff so helpful and friendly. Great location. Food was absolutely amazing at the pub, 100% recommend. Thank you for such an amazing stay. My only issue is I wish we stayed with you longer 👍👍👌😁xx

No breakfast in the pub but very nice cafe nearby open in morning for walkers' breakfasts. Pub has very pleasant atmosphere and lovely situation in the village. Comfortable and cosy cottage with goof facilities.

Lighting could be a bit brighter in the bedrooms and main room.

The flat was clean and functional, perfect for a short stay

I think telling us before time the pub was shut for renovations and therefore no food would have been sensible as the travellers pub down the road stopped serving at 7pm so we ended up with no evening meal after a long journey

The property was clean and everything you would need for a lovely weekend getaway. The colleagues at the pub were exceptionally friendly and helpful and made us feel really welcome. The food available was amazing and we will definitely stay there again.
