Fantastic dog friendly hotel. Clean, warm and comfortable. Great good and an amazing location for walking. Amazing value for money too.

Dog friendly! Room 31 was really big and clean. Beds were comfy. Very quiet. Breakfast was excellent and the staff, lovely. Plenty of parking and space to walk the dogs and with a waste bin provided.

Room was freezing cold on arrival - we had advised we would be arriving late, but before reception closed. We had requested a Double bed and found the room was made up as a Twin. We were too tired to ask reception to sort it out. There was only one spare blanket on the shelf. Took awhile to find the switch to turn on the towel radiator. Turned on the room radiator which took awhile to warm up but was very effective once going. There was some mould in the grouting inside the shower and no toilet roll holder. Trying to reach for the loo roll behind you, was awkward.

The room rate is excellent and the room was quite large. Good lighting, no waiting for the hot water to come through, wi fi good, the heating was very good, tea and coffee facilities plus a work surface. I was very happy with the room. the staff are nice and reponsive. I wouldn't avoid this hotel.

what they lose on price for the room they make up for in the restaurant. If they discounted the food by 30% then that would make it good value. When the room is taken into account then whole deal moves from a good deal to an average one. You did get a morning buffet with cerials and fruit but the cooked meals are on par with Wetherspoons. I got the feeling they cater mainly for group / coach load bookings. The menu is all on one side of an A4 sheet with a choice of 3 starters and 3 mains, no prices are printed on it ( someone has to pay retail and it wont be the package bookings)

Our second stay here . Staff are fantastic and deliver exceptionally good customer service even when flat out with coach parties nothing is too much trouble..Rooms are clean and comfortable and the place is Super dog friendly too .

Breakfast was a disappointment as many items from the buffet section had run out due to coach parties and items and plates not replaced so didn't get full experience of breakfast on both stays. Cooked breakfast was a little over done and very cold too.. Cooked breakfast portions small but adequate,however I can see this as an issue for many guests particularly when buffet items out of stock too .

The hotel was clean and comfortable and staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. It was suitably located for visiting the main attractions we were interested in...Highland Wildlife Park, Landmark Forest Adventure Park and Cairngorm Alpacas. Also liked the location as it enabled us to walk around the village each evening after our days out.

We felt the hotel was much more suited to couples doing coach tours rather than families. The evening meal menu wasn't very child friendly and we felt breakfast was a little over priced, especially for two bowls of cereal for our son. Found a nice cafe on the main street which we visit instead.

Chatted to the Manager on departure and explained that as a former QA Inspector for Visit Scotland, I was in a position to compare the standards of accommodation. My wife and I were very impressed with the Quality of Customer Care provided, particularly in the dining Room. all Staff we dealt with were very pleasant and attentive nad the service was first class. All plated food was serrved promptly to order and was piping hot and very well presented.. Hopefully we will make our 8th visit to the venue before the end of 2023.

No dislikes on this visit. Check in and out went very smoothly.

Staff were very helpful and courteous, breakfast was exceptional and set us up for the day. Our room was ideal and on the ground floor as we asked for. Overall Highlander hotel made our stay very enjoyable and we would definetely return.

There is nothing throughout our experience at Highlander hotel that we could fault we really enjoyed our visit and would not hesitate to return.We also would not hesitate to recommend the Highlander hotel to anyone.

We enjoyed both our dinner and our breakfast. Their own beef is quiet tasty. The rooms were comfortable and the bed was big. Because we were just passing through, I can't say much about the location. The people were absolutely lovely. The hotel's restaurant closes at 8pm, and we arrived just minutes before due to the delay of our flight. They still let us eat there, which was very kind. They also helped us find a place to walk and printed out a map. So friendly.

The two 'dislikes' are couple related. When you are on a 'romantic trip to Scotland, you might mind: - There were two seperate matrasses on the bed, which made it hard to sleep together as a couple. - The shower was small, showering together wasn't possible.

Only arrived in the evening and checked out in the morning. This was just a stop over to break up a journey.. But room was clean and comfortable, staff were pleasant and food was good.

We had a meal in the evening and a jug of water was brought to our table, as is custom. However, nobody asked us if we'd like anything to drink throughout the meal. We ended up having a drink in the empty bar. Also, the restaurant was empty except for one other table, and they sat us right next to them. We could hear each other's conversations. No background music. No ambience.

We had a great experience. Lovely place, quick check in. But Vince was very very nice and helpful. We sat and talked and he invited us to coffee. Recommended where to eat and how to get around. We left early so he made us a great packed meal. Good location right in the middle of the village. On the nc500. An hour from John a Groath.

The shower was a bit old and small and the water heat didn't reach very high.
