Lovely owners at the Red Lion, Steve & Lucy, cute traditional pub in a quiet location, wanted peace, and we certainly got it, slept like babies, room had everything you need, bed was comfy, lovely & clean, modern ensuite shower room, food was delicious traditional hearty pub grub, breakfast was one of the best we have ever had, thanks Lucy, perfect. Dogs are welcome, our Jess got a biscuit and belly rub off the landlord Steve everytime he saw her, 100% recommend, you won't be disappointed.

Nothing not to like.

As a dog friendly stay, this was our first booking at a dog friendly property. From our first contact to booking out, The Red Lion Inn could not have be any more accommodating. Such friendly owners and locals, we felt very welcomed during our stay. Our breakfast was exceptional. The evening meals was good traditional food, I certainly would recommend the Cumberland Sausage. We would be more than happy to stay at The Red Lion again when visiting the South Lakes.

Nothing

Had a great stay at the red lion. Great hosts friendly local pub atmosphere. Good beer ales and food. And a great breakfast to start the day included. Cleanliness of the hotel was 110% room spotless, comfy bed hot power shower and a good size spacious room. Would strongly recommend. Extremely dog friendly. Thanks to Steve and Lucy for a great stay😁 also got some great shots of the northern lights from the beer garden.

Friendly staff with simple check in very accomindating, beautiful views in beer garden and in bedroom, the beds were very comfortable , loved we can have more than one cup of tea each. shower room modern with good shower. Enjoyed our evening meal and breakfast left full and satisfied.

More attention to detail when cleaning needed, a few dusty cobwebs, but to be fair I am a cleaner so pick up on things and most places I've stayed have the same issue. So didn't put me off and would return

The location was idilic with fantastic views over the surrounding countryside. The food ,both breakfast and the evening meal were first class especially the poached eggs

There was nothing we did not like but our room would benefit with bedside cabinet or somewhere to rest a watch or a glass of water

I really enjoyed my stay here- Steve and Lucy were both great hosts and made me feel very welcome. Without me asking, they provided me with maps and recommended a local walking trail which I really appreciated! The Full English breakfast was absolutely delicious and a great way to start the day- I also thoroughly enjoyed the evening meals I had, there was a great variety of meals to choose from their menu and I tried something different each night. My room was comfortable and perfect for my requirements, nicely decorated and the TV was upgraded during my stay! I had no issues with parking and the location was perfect for me to drive to and from the various towns, villages and attractions of the Lake District.

Location - very convenient for walking on the Cumbria Way to Coniston from Ulverston. Friendly and efficient, wholesome and good dinner/breakfast, good beer. Clean, comfortable and quiet bedrooms. Managed reception of luggage from baggage company. Good packed lunch.

What's not to like - ideal accommodation for a walking holiday!

What can you say about the Red Lion? I have spent so much time in the Lakes over the years but regrettably have never been in the Red Lion. I visit the area on a bi weekly basis all year round so.feel bad I have never stayed here, I have stayed locally for a lot more money and been very disappointed. This is a proper traditional pub, good choice of local beers and lagers with superb food. The staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive but not over bearing. Room was great, clean and tidy, coffee and tea facilities. Bathroom clearly not long since refurbished and again was great. Breakfast was very good, the full English put me on all day and I didnt need anything to eat until 9 p.m depsite having a busy and active day. A real gem of a place.

The fact I had to come home.

Nice location, Steve and Lucy are excellent hosts and the pub is lovely. Full english breakfast was superb!!! Room was clean and roomy, bathroom was lovely. Free WiFi is a bonus in such a remote location.

Can't think of anything which is within the owners responibility. Remote location means no shops nearby for e.g. food for lunch or on the go. Plan well ahead!
