Fantastic hotel on Kirkwall waterfront within walking distance from the town core. Excellent large rooms, modern facilities, very comfortable. Great restaurant, where we had both an excellent breakfast and a similarly excellent dinner. Plus, a superb bar and lounge, stocking 100+ varieties of Highland Park whiskey. Very friendly and helpful staff made our stay exceptionally pleasant.

Parking may be the only tiny negative, as the hotel has none of its own. There are limited free spaces on the street, and a couple of lots nearby - the latter an issue only when the weather may be less than cooperating.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel was clean. Hotel is in a very central location. Meals were excellent, big portions.

Requested 2 rooms next to each other, we were on the same floor but the rooms were not together. This was a bit disappointing as I was traveling with my 14 year old son. One of the rooms was bigger than the other, but were priced the same. The hotel were expecting 4 guests as I had booked 2 rooms although I feel this is more of a problem with Booking.com website than hotel.

Lovely room, beautifully decorated,very comfortable bed. Restaurant was excellent and we had dinner there twice during our three night stay. Staff were helpful in suggesting other restaurants we might like to try.

Our room on the second floor overlooked an extractor fan below. This seemed to run continuously and so we slept with the windows closed. The lift, which was probably original, was hardly ever available as usually it would be stuck on an upper floor the previous users having failed to close BOTH DOORS! Not sure what if anything could be done about this. Luckily, we didn't mind the stairs but this could have been problem for some guests.

Staff went above and beyond especially the reception staff for checkin (didn't get their name but #fabulous) & bar staff as per were brilliant and friendly.

Room was unfortunately small for the price paid however staff went above asked with a bottle of prosecco instead of a simple note for our 5th anniversary. Don't overly blame the hotel for price, a)it's peak tourist season and b) there were cruise ships in. (I get it)

We were advised that the hotel was undergoing considerable refurbishment however we heard nothing throughout our whole stay. The room was spotless and they staff could not do enough for us.

We asked for a room with a sea view, and were delighted with the room they allocated us. The restaurant was lovely, and the meals were great. Very easy parking right outside the door.

The lift was very small and old (as appropriate for the hotel), so just be aware if you have a room on an upper floor, you may prefer, as we did, to use the stairs instead.

Room 204 has just been decorated to a good standard, only suggestion I would say is that shelving in bathroom for toiletries would be beneficial.

The rooms, and the bathrooms were on the small side but still very comfortable.

Lovely staff, recently refurbished rooms, enjoyable evening meal and one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had with a view of Kirkwall harbour! Free Parking at the front door- what else could you ask for?

The staff was welcoming, the breakfast hearty, and the beds and rooms so comfortable - a perfect respite after traveling and exploring!

Open showers still make no sense to me...what's the point of having water get everywhere??
