On arrival at the Black Swan we were greeted by the staff, who said we could check in 1 hour earlier. We stayed in Room 2 which was a reasonable size and had everything that we needed. We had our evening meal downstairs in the pub and when we came down to eat, they had gifted us a box of chocolates and some Prosecco for our anniversary. We ordered the Wensleydale mushrooms, the gammon and a 10oz rump steak. It was absolutely delicious. In our room there was a double bed that was very comfy with lovely pillows. In the morning we went down stairs for our breakfast, there was a choice of cereals, juices, yogurts and toast with a choice of jams and honey, a choice of hot breakfast items was available, along with tea and coffee. Hot breakfast was served to us at the table and was very good. We had a lovely stay, the staff were very friendly, making sure our stay was enjoyable.

What a great find this place is. We stayed for 2 nights recieved a lovely warm welcome and was shown straight to our room which was lovely, bright airy and spotlessly clean. The bed was lovely and comfortable too. We ate in the bar both nights fish and chips the first night steak and pie the second, we also had breakfast both mornings this was freshly cooked using quality ingredients. The portions of all the meals very generous breakfast saw us through the whole day Live music was on Saturday I don't know if it's a regular thing but the atmosphere was great a full bar with everyone singing and dancing along. All the staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for us, we will definitely return when we next stay in the area. Highly recommended

Location was excellent and free parking right in front of the hotel in the lovely main square in Leyburn. Friendly,, helpful staff, breakfast good and well kept real ale. Good value - we had the budget room but adequate for our needs and extremely clean and wonderfully quiet. Handy for the whole town which has many I dependent shops and central for exploring the beautiful Yorkshire Dales and the stunning countryside. We would be very happy to stay there again.

Slight confusion at breakfast, as the member of staff organising breakfast was not available for quite a while,so unsure what was the process. However the cooked breakfast was very good

Under New management and they are trying so hard ! Room was really lovely and Clean with white fluffy towels a massive barthroom with barth and separate shower which was very powerful bed really comfortable with lovely white bed duvet and sheets, and breakfast excellent and plentiful, we were in Room 4,right at the top ( if you have mobility issues don't pick this Room as up 4 flights of stairs) but a beautiful room! Menu is typical pub grub.

Terrific value for money, so much cheaper than rivals. Brilliant position in the town, no problem parking. Room was clean, not 5 star but then would have been twice the price. Food in the evening was also very good and most reasonable in price.

Breakfast started at 8.30 and that was too late for me and I should imagine anyone going to work would have been in the same position. 7.30 would be much more realistic.

The location was fantastic, in the centre of town overlooking the market square. There are two beer gardens to choose from, one to the front of the pub and an enclosed courtyard to the rear. The pub frontage looks lovely, beautiful sash windows and hanging baskets make it look very pretty.

There was no wardrobe in our room so maybe a couple of wall hooks would have been useful for hanging clothes and/or coats..

Excellent stay all round, Meals were very good, and plenty of it, staff were very friendly and help full, free parking right outside the main door, what more would you want.

The room was fantastic but the bed could do with replacing as you could feel the springs through the mattress. The kettle would be better cordless as hard to plug in on a short lead every time you went to fill it. Minor things because the stay was great.

Thank you to all at The Black Swan for making our stay enjoyable. The room was immaculate with a very spacious bathroom and overlooked the Square, the bed was sooooo comfy. The food was amazing and the staff very welcoming, the bar was buzzing with people which made for a lovely, cosy atmosphere, it is obviously popular with visitors and local people, so make sure to book your table when you arrive! The Black Swan is centrally situated, so makes it an ideal base, there is plenty parking at the front of the property and it is surrounded with cafes and shops so lots to see. There is also a local grocer that has an absolute huge collection of cheese in case you don't get to the creamery, you can still take some home. A few yards down the road is the train station and local distillery with Gins and Rums to try, further on is the local brewery with a small shop so you can take some proper Wensleydale Ale home and then just a little bit further on is fabulous chocolate factory who were only too willing to let us have a taste! Just an absolutely brilliant place to stay, we would highly recommend it.

Can't think of a thing

The Black Swan is right in the centre of Leyburn adjacent an amazing hardware store.Free Parking directly outside the pub, but be wary of Markey Day on a Friday. The hotel staff will guide you where to park. The pub was smaller than I imagined but cosy. The food was excellent. No point in dining here if on a diet. Staff helpful, courteous and efficient. Our 'budget' bedroom was perfectly adequate with large en suite bathroom. The breakfast put us on for the rest of the day! We thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay.

The pub is a maze of stairs and corridors. Locating the gentleman's toilet from the bar/dining rooms was a challenge as it was upstairs along various corridors.
