The Wensleydale Hotel

The location is brilliant - right in the center of the town. We had a lovely, dog friendly room with a view over the square. The breakfast was great - we preordered the night before so there's no waiting and no waste. Everything well presented. We had a lovely chat with the manager in the bar in the evening - he's very friendly and enthusiastic.

We really wanted to eat in the restaurant but unfortunately it was closed that evening. However, we visited all the pubs in the town (there are 3) and ate in one of them, so we still had a lovely evening.

We had a lovely stay. We were upgraded to Room 21 at no extra cost. A fantastic room with a four poster bed, amazing view and spacious bathroom. Staff were very friendly and attended to all our needs. Breakfast was wonderful. Excellent location in the Square and parking in front of the hotel. Middleham is a relaxing place with friendly people and plenty of walks on the doorstep. We would love to go back again.

The breakfast was spot on! Choose the previous night and arrives at your table as soon as you sit down. The hotel is ideally set in the centre of town, with lots of parking. A nice forecourt area to relax in and watch the world go by on a nice day. Food was exceptional especially theBeef Wellington, and the Cod loin not far behind.

Nothing not to like.

Excellent location-enjoyed waking up to sound of horses hooves tapping on the roads outside in the mornings! Quite a novelty. Liked the antique furniture in the room and the views of the Dales from the window. The food was very good indeed and demonstrated very high skills and value for money-in particular the sea bass with shrimp sauce and tarte tatin with liquorice ice cream were heavenly. Service was exceptional.

Nothing to complain about. Parking is a bit difficult but that is just the nature of the village.

Breakfast was on from 0830 just not in time for us as we were there for work we had to leave at 0730. The staff did offer some sandwiches as a substitute though. We did make it on one of the days we stayed and it was lovely with a good choice and pleasant staff. Bar and restaurant were very well stocked and layed out.

Free Wifi signal wasn't great on the top floor. Parking in the town was a bit tight at times as we had a 4x4 with us.

The whole experience was great, from when we arrived till when we left was spot on, we spoke to three staff members and they couldn't have been more helpful. A great place to stay and a place we will return too. Beer great, food great, place great. Billy Vickers

The whole stay was great so hard to improve.

Lovely, character building, helpful staff, perfect setting.

The shower was dated an inefficient. The bedding was lovely but the mattress rather soft for us. We could have done with a thinner duvet for summer as it was too hot (even though the weather was not great for July) and made sleeping more difficult.

Location excellent as we were visiting both the Dales and the Moors. Also we are avid racehorse enthusiasts so was very interesting to stay in Middleham. Breakfast was good and plenty of it. Staff were friendly and efficient as best as they could be, even though short staffed.

Friday night meal was expensive. Soup not to our liking, not really what we called French Onion soup, just a bowl of onions really! The beef wellington was nice but pricey. Overall though we enjoyed our stay and would come back here again.

The evening meals were very good with good choice and excellent wine! Felt a little sorry for the man who seemed to be ‘front of house’, ‘waiter’, wine waiter’ ‘reception’, very few other staff, but by far the most wonderful member of staff was the young girl who served breakfast and then went on to do the rooms. She was always cheerful and smiling, but above all - very helpful and efficient - a credit to the small team!

We forgot to book a meal for our last night, so when it was too late, the restaurant was full!

Stunning hotel right on the village square. The restaurant attached served amazing food with great quality produce.

Only issue we found in the room was the kettle plug. It couldn’t be removed as it was behind the radiator and this was the only socket you could use to plug in a hairdryer if you wanted to use the mirror. There are other sockets to use though, so not a massive deal.
