The food was excellent - we very much enjoyed our meals. The staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely spa and I had an excellent back massage.

No lift to the bedrooms and no offer of help with luggage - my husband had experienced some heart problems the previous week so that would have been helpful but we managed. Bathroom had a very odd toilet roll holder which didn't hold a toilet roll so we put it on the floor. Some tissues and a shower hat would have been nice - I was surprised they were not offered. Service for our second evening meal was very slow (an hour) the waitresses were doing their best but it would have been good if they had come and explained that there was only one chef and a trainee.

Standing in large grounds, including a woodland habitat for red squirrels (although sadly we didn't manage to see any), Tre-ysgawen is a beautifully maintained/restored 175-year old country house but with all modern amenities. We had a gorgeous, huge four-poster room in the main house, furnished entirely in keeping with the age and style of the house, but with an enormous modern bathroom complete with double-sized bath. Excellent food (I recommend the Welsh lamb chops), and really helpful and friendly service. Great spa with a large pool and fully equipped gym.

No lift to the upper floors but a big shout-out to the multi-talented, multi-tasking Spencer who was happy to run up and down stairs with heavy suitcases while also manning the bar and serving in the restaurant. And as is to be expected with a house of this age, a number of trivial imperfections which generally just served to enhance the ambiance.

The rural setting was lovely and picturesque, the spa was good and not too crowded, and the different rooms like the library were really interesting. The bedroom and bathroom were a really good size too. The staff were really friendly and welcoming.

Nothing I didn’t like. Just a little discrepancy between the email and staff re using the spa facilities after checkout. The email states we are free to use after checkout and doesn’t stipulate a timeframe of when we would need to vacate, but told by staff on the day that it was only till 12 midday with a charge thereafter.

Beautiful old building in the process of having a refurb , however the impact on our stay was non existent. The pool and leisure facilities were excellent as was the restaurant and the food . It’s in a pretty remote location which has its pros and cons with the nearest town being about 8 miles away . We did find that to travel anywhere coastal on the island took a maximum of around 30 mins so it is good in that respect . Drinks are a little pricey at the bar at just over £6 for a pint of madri but I suppose it depends what you’re used to. Staff were all excellent and were all too happy to sort out any request given. We would go back maybe some time in the future as we thoroughly enjoyed Anglesey

History of the hall.

Hotel staff very welcoming. Bedroom 8 was dusty in parts and the carpet was stained. One of the bedside light bulbs was faulty (bulb replaced). A box of tissues would be an improvement in the bedroom. Windows didn’t lock safely and they were dirty! Standard of drinks tray could have been better in terms of cleanliness and quality of items. Biscuit of 2, was poor! Better selection would be an improvement and welcoming. Spa pool was okay, very dark lit and more lightening would be an improvement. The changing room area was ok, showers were poor, broken hair/soap access. Shower doors very badly worn, need updating/improving. Restaurant very expensive and portions very small.

Reception staff, lovely warm welcome. Breakfast, lots of choices. Breakfast room beautiful, elegant room. Large bedroom and bathroom. Nice old furniture, clean and comfortable. Value for money.

No blinds, just large drapes and swags difficult to draw over windows. View into courtyard ok, but the other window offered a view of a scruffy wall with dead plants . Information booklet needs updating, bathrobes no longer available, WiFi information wrong. Corridor being decorated throughout our stay. Lots of workmen in restaurant. Not really a 4 star feel to the place.

Breakfast was very good and plentiful. We had dinner one evening which was good but only a pasta selection so we ate out the other nights. Staff were all very helpful and spa was stunning.

There was no lift in the hotel and my wife has trouble with the stairs. The staff carried up our luggage though. There was no information of any kind in the room. Nothing about meals, how to contact reception, nothing about the spa and its facilities, nothing about the bars available. And most worryingly no evacuation procedures. As there was a fire alarm during one night we just had to follow everyone outside but nothing in the room to tell us what to do. They need to sort this out. It could be dangerous. Also the post code on their website does not take you to the hotel with your satnav. But about a mile away from the entrance in the village. They need to publish a satnav post code that you can use.

Beautiful old historic building with opulence in the communal areas and gardens. The bedrooms were large, well furnished and traditional and the beds were comfortable The pool and spa was lovely and really made the stay extra special. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Everything was pricy from drinks at the bar to meals in the restaurant. The beauty treatments were quite pricey too. The bedroom although very nice the price per night without breakfast warranted some updating in the bathroom particularly. Breakfast , although we had lots of cold options the hot options were limited. Our back massage booked ahead of arrival was changed to different times and we were not informed.

What a glorious building! Felt so grand staying here. The spa, pool and sauna facilities were lovely and the rooms, though a bit dated were very comfortable. In a wonderful location. The people were really lovely. Getting to meet some locals in the spa area was lovely. Especially heating stories of the places history.

The place needs a bit of TLC and updating in spots, but we know they are trying to do this. An extra thing would be to have a small fridge in the room. If you're staying a few nights, people often like to have some things on them. Though the kitchen staff were very happy to keep some things in the kitchen fridge, which was really nice.

The venue was located in a beautiful rural area on Anglesey. The location was very peaceful. Breakfast was included in our stay, with cooked and continental options (including vegan alternatives and milk replacements), and the staff were incredibly accommodating throughout. The decor and feel of the place were wonderful - like walking onto a Bridgerton set. The facilities - pool, loungers, spa bath, sauna and salt inhalation room - were great too and we spent a lot of time there relaxing. The massages were wonderful too, we highly recommend them!

"Didn't like" is too harsh a phrase for the following remarks. The new owner is still renovating the property so, of course, with an old property comes age. For my partner and I, we loved the older carpeting, and the decor throughout - it felt like walking through history and the beds and bedroom facilities were comfortable and up-to-date. But, for those who want a modern hotel - this is not for you. If you do, however, want a hotel that is welcoming (like a home away from home) with amazing staff, beautiful historic features, a wonderful spa, and great gardens - this is the place for you!
