The Menai is always a reliable place to stay. On each occasion I have stayed, the room has been spacious with all the necessary facilities. The windows are large, letting in plenty of light and, in certain rooms, amazing views. You can also ask to borrow an iron if needed. The staff are attentive at key moments (e.g. check-in and breakfast) but otherwise stay out of the way. The true joy of the Menai, however, is the free breakfast. They provide you with a form to fill out the night before specifying what you want from a multitude of cooked and continental options, from fruit, cheese, and croissants to bacon, eggs, and toast. The eggs are always perfect — lovely bright, runny yolks. 10/10 would recommend.

The Menai is an older building, which shows in some of the décor and can look slightly grubby/worn in places but, for my needs, it's perfectly fine. The shower is probably the biggest let down — the water pressure is terrible and it takes many attempts to find a good water temperature due to the time it takes to warm up/cool down.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and clean and the bed was very comfortable. The location of the hotel was perfect. I really enjoyed the atmosphere in the restaurant as well. Food was fantastic and the portions were good.

The room I was in had the view of the car park. It would be nice if the curtains were blackout curtains as the floodlight in the car park was on all night which made falling asleep difficult. The door didn't have a handle on the inside, so it made opening the door to leave very difficult, especially for people who have issues with their hands.

A good, prompt breakfast and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable and made for a good nights sleep, it was quite quiet. There was a nice tv and tea making facilities

That the room was not cleaned/tidied for a few days, and it was a tight squeeze between the toilet and shower. Small attention to details would be nice, in that a light bulb needed changing in the dining room, it was flashing on and off. There is a car park with spaces but it is not easy to get to. The view from my room was not very appealing.

WE were there as we climbed Snowdon. We needed a room and the price was one of the cheapest we could find for our budget. The bed was comfy and glad as a hot weekend the big window as we were on the top floor could open. Plenty of tea and coffee in the room, Wifi worked well and we had a small tv. a wardrobe, set of drawers, comfy chair and little dresser with mirror in our room. We liked it . Maybe some people wouldnt think much as could do with little jobs but we liked it. As i say for price and a bed, we had a bar as well as a few others nearby. We had food , fish and chips and my mate a double burger, chips and salad. looked good and wish i had the burger Continental breakfast or English was available and you could choose by checking a sheet on arrival of items you wanted.

Me and 2 friends stayed here for a day/night around Bangor, we were very happy with all of the things this place had, from a decently equipped bar offering cocktails, lagers, ciders, etc at good prices, to pool tables nearby and Large TVs showcasing sports. The rooms were a decent size with comfortable beds and was overall really quiet throughout the night in a great location nearby to the main parts of Bangor, and the university was especially nearby to the place. The breakfast options too! For the price we paid, we all had a comfortable stay overall, solid breakfast (which is fully customisable the day before), and friendly staff that work here. Place was very clean too, overall, it was perfect for the money. Very well done to the owner(s) and staff for making this stay a solid one.

The welcome was warm, and the staff throughout our stay were absolutely lovely! We had dinner, which was very nice and the breakfast was excellent! The rooms are clean and comfortable and we all had a very peaceful stay!

A tray under the kettle, tea and coffee would be good.. I think it would be easier for the hotel to clean! I had to leave my spoon etc directly on the desk. And maybe a little bedside lamp? The one above the bed was ok, but tricky to turn off when you’re in bed!

Reading the other reviews made me a bit cautious about booking here but I realize that the negative reviews were mostly from people who paid £70 per night and expected to get the Ritz Carlton for that money. Sure Menai Hotel might not have had renovation works for a little while but the location was great, the staff were super friendly (they even let our French bulldog stay for free which is not the case in most other hotels), the breakfast that was included in the price was really good (the staff were very accommodating to our vegetarian diets), the room was spacious and had all the necessary basics if you just need a good base while discovering the area. The price to quality ratio is definitely satisfactory.

The mattress could have been more comfortable.

The room was a decent size. Bedding, the furniture, cups, and bathroom were clean. The shower was new - it worked well. You do need to let the water run - it takes time for the hot water to reach the shower, but when it does, it is decently hot. Generous amount of tea and coffee, decaf as well. Decent TV also. Excellent breakfast. There are some poor reviews about this hotel. Sometimes establishments don't get things right, but I think in this instance, some reviews are very unfair. The building is old - so it has some creaky floorboards, and your room is opened by a proper door-key, for example - fact of life. It is clean, offers what you expect from a hotel, and has staff that worked hard certainly during my stay there. Someone else criticised that it was hot when they stayed there - in the spell of really hot weather we've just had, not much of a surprise. The sash window was original - and it was huge - and it opened fully - great in the hot weather I reckon.

Higher-level cleaning needs attention - the window ledge was dirty - your eyesight is immediately drawn to that. That's the only negative I can mention - that one thing.

Fourty Tower's!!,but without Sible & Basil !!! But, Craig,Tim & Chris done their best to keep us happy!! If you don't pay the earth, you shouldn't expect the world!! If you ignore the faded paint etc, you get remarkable value. We had the family room which was large with a newly Refurbished on suite shower/bath. Our room had views out over the bar extension to distant mountains(sorry no roaming wilderbeast) Because the Bar & sky TV area with its pool tables etc were in the extension area, the actual bedrooms situated in the old hotel building were remarkably quite, even on cup final night & Eurovision night !! The breakfast is very good with juice, banana,cereal,tea/coffee and a nicely cooked full English ( medium size) + toast !! We always got a parking space ok too. If it had a lift or someone around to help get case's up stairs it would be brilliant value, But it's still alot better than we expected

Very, very, little, We'd go back any time

The staff were lovely and accommodating, the beds were really comfortable and the sheets and towels were nice and fresh. Breakfast was also lovely

The only bad thing was the state of the public interior, there was an awful lingering smell in the reception corridor which crept up the stairs and made it a bit riffy. And the doors/walls etc looked a bit shabby. Although the bedrooms themselves were fine though, the place could do with a spring clean, freshen up and a lick of paint but overall the service was great. Thanks
