I really liked the warm welcome from the staff, the decent people working there makes all the difference to a place. The decor was as you see in photos (so many places have out of date photos and I have come to expect the places to be tattier than they look in pics, therefore this hostel exceeded my expectations as it looks clean and new compared to other hostels.) The little patio space makes it feel like a holiday and it has fresh air but is far more temperate in a heat wave than other outside areas. The kitchen is nice and well equipped. Free coffee and tea. Friendly safe atmosphere and one of the reasons for this is staff policy of zero tolerance of creepy sexual behaviours or assaults etc. They are very on the ball with this sort of stuff and the place reflects that with the good vibes atmosphere. The bathrooms are modern and spacious wet rooms which is far more relaxing than many of the cramped spaces in some hostels. Bed was comfy. There were big fans to keep air circulating in the room. The street has a quiet majesty to it due to being right across from the British Museum. It is so central yet so peaceful and safe at night. There's a hostel guitar to play!! :)

A guy in my mixed dorm was letting the door slam repeatedly- going in and out like a flippin yoyo in the morning. I would prefer if hostels in general started adding signs to stop guests from letting the heavy fire doors from slamming loudly behind people when they go in and out, as people are on different sleep schedules. The rare places that have signs telling people to be quiet if others are sleeping have a culture of better rest and sleep for all. I wish this was standard to have a sign. This is a general thing though and not specific to this hostel.

Set within beautiful Bloomsbury neighbourhood in a peaceful part of London, Astor Museum is a Georgian mansion which provides perfect accommodation for educational holidays close to the British Museum. From ancient stones to modern communications and art, Bloomsbury is a location with stories to tell. The hostel is perfectly positioned for accessing some scenic walking routes nearby with excellent local and national public transport links. Explore famous locations like Covent Garden, Oxford Street (the Selfridges, John Lewis), a leasure walk from High Holborn to Waterloo. Astor Museum has comfortable, airy rooms (ask for upper floors), a beautifully equipped kitchen with an outside sitting area, cozy living room (has a potential to have an outside patio as well), clean bathrooms and absolutely amazing, fun and warm hearted stuff, that could be a perfect cast for a new TV show. Special thanks to Mr. Giles Beattie - his emotional intelligence, hard-working attitude and impeccable manners for sure make him a super valuable accet to become a General Manager of any 5* hotel. Ask Tristan about New Zealand and London theatres, Alex - about Australia and hiking in Richmond, James - about trendy London clubs. The ladies from the stuff are just pure love and care, always checking up on your comfort and needs. The Manager will provide you with an astrology insite every Wednesday during his famous evening workshop. There are many other events for everyone, too. Enjoy!)

Yes, smoking must be allowed only across the street.

Very friendly staff! And the location is really perfect. You can reach basically everywhere without a problem from there! The beds where very comfortable too.

I was a little taken aback when I first entered the dorm because of a horrid smell of unwashed feet. And there in one bed lay an old shaggy man, surrounded by many hard plastic bags and it seemed like he usually lives on the streets and got a hostel for one night. Of course I wish for a safe and warm place to sleep for everyone, nevertheless it made me feel really uncomfortable because he also was quite rude. Also the cleanliness leaves something to be desired. The toilets weren't properly clean, the showers ceiling were very moldy and when some clothes fell under my bed and I pulled them out they were beyond full of dust and dirt.

A simply superb stay. Started off 2 nights in a dorm and last night in a pvt room. Superb rates. Superb location. The politest, ( if that's a word )most helpful staff. Comfortable beds, clean, secure, great breakfast room / kitchen. I will be hyper critical on issues below but this is my go to accom now for stays in London when flying in or out. Well done guys ! Being so polite and helpful goes a hell of a way.

Hyper critical to help only: -Some beds creak. An issue in dorm not that anyone minds but id be out with my screwdriver. -id so like a shelf in the shower room. Iv been in top hotels and they miss that too. Few quid in each shower room go a long way. Easy to design just by taking a shower with gear you have on travels. Can't think of anything else.

Team was super nice and sweet, always super helpful! Location is perfectly centered, you get around in London pretty easily. The kitchen is well equipped and breakfast options available, I don't know if I timed it differently but I didn't have to wait to get to showering. Unfortunately my own schedule didn't let me take part in the hostel activities, but the offers are great especially if you want to connect with people.

Can't really complain about anything, it's a Hostel after all, which seems to be forgotten by some guests. You do end up sharing your room, so yes, people can be loud at night. Haven't been to any previously though, so I was kinda positively surprised.

A classy, truly rock-n-rollish place in the heart of Central London. An effective, responsible team. A delightful, posh style outdoor veranda - open till 10 p.m. A super clean and cozy kitchen offers a slow cooker and a Nespesso coffee machine - bring your favourite pods! My huge appreciation to hard-working Tristan on follow-up upon my departure. Hope to see charming Seamus and Cassie in Bridgerton's - they have that special (British) movie star vibe! Aitor is one of the best managers in London and excellent in team building. Giles Betty could serve a manager for Astor Hyde Park - they need good management.

Absolutely nothing!

Astor museum isn't just an hostel. It is a place where you can met new people and feel very good vibes! The team is made up of friendly and kind guys. They do everything to make you feel comfortable. There are many rooms solutions and a big kitchen, with a lot of tools and professional facilities. Here you can cook whatever you want. An all you can eat breakfast is served every morning for 3,5 pounds. You can drop your luggage for the entire day for 2,5 pounds. They are precise with timetables and their rules: I think that this is the only way to keep their hostel clean, to avoid general confusion and to encourage the respect for others. It is in the center of the city. With 20 min by walk you can reach Trafalgar square, Picadilly circus, Soho, covent garden etc... The nearest underground stop is Russel Square, 5 min far by walk. A big "Sainsboury's" market center 5 min by walk.

The location was amazing, I could walk to 90% of everything I was interested in. The staff was always very nice and helpful, ready to answer any question. They created a really enjoyable and chill atmosphere. Everything was very clean and comfortable, the lounge was always open and you could relax while watching a movie or playing a game. Sometimes the guests would leave the shower a bit messy but the staff would clean it pretty quickly.

The last flight of stairs to get to the top floor were a bit tricky cause they were the spiral ones, so you had to be careful when using them especially if you had luggage.

Amazing location. Super friendly team. Comfy bed with a charging cord and light. Would recommend not bribing a suitcase, the stairs are steep and narrow :)

Great location, friendly staff and affordable breakfast are the best advantages of the place. Also people whom you can meet during your stay, but they are not provided by the hostel ;) Reception 24/7 is also very convenient. Just because it is next to The British Museum I have visited the Museum twice during my not so long stay. Covent Garden, Soho and whole West End are just 10 minutes walk away. Rooms and common spaces are cleaned every day. Staff is talkative and helpful. When I noticed that USB charger at my bed is not working, they gave me an adapter instead. I appreciate it.

Bathroom at half floor could have a door, to not be visible while brushing the teeth by every person who comes in to the hostel. Also there was much rubbish behind my bed since check in until check out, even though the room was cleaned every day. Good that bathrooms were cleaned better.
