they added a “discretionary” service charge to the bill without asking - it’s happened at this hotel before and I’m not used to that practice elsewhere so it feels like sharp practice. Its not inexpensive in the first place and adding costs for no apparent reason is not ok by me. the receptionist was very grumpy when I challenged the addition although it was removed…

The hotel is conveniently located in a quiet side street, the nights sleep was not interrupted by neighbours, outside traffic or the underground. The hotel is everything you need- very welcoming staff, comfortable interiors, a very tasty Michelin star resturant and delicious breakfast. It’s not a cheap stay however we did not want that - we were celebrating and it made our weekend incredibly special.

The shower was powerful but quite splashy over the bathroom. I am totally nit picking here!!

Perfect location, beautiful building and decor. The staff were amazing, very professional, helpful and friendly. A great team. Lovely to find somewhere that really values the guests and makes you feel so welcome. They really couldn't do enough. Wonderful comfortable room, spotlessly clean and furnished to a high standard. Great bar, with an excellent choice of drinks. They do a superb Negroni!! Really loved our stay here.

The location of the hotel is perfect for the centre of London cutting out on most requirements for travel via taxi or tube as such it saves on costs and time that a out of city centre location would incur, access is easy by foot to the vast majority of tourist attractions, such as Buckingham Palace, Mayfair, Bond Street, Regent Street. Leicester Square etc. The room was spotlessly clean and the hotel accommodated my request for a quiet room as i was working in London and had been travelling extensively so peace and quiet was essential, and with the warm weather functioning air conditioning was very welcome.

This is a hotel I have used before extensively pre pandemic, the price was probably a little high for what it is, but will use again

The staff was very attentive and lovely. Great location. Room nice and well appointments. Fantastic bedding and pillows. Shower and bathroom was a bit small and dangerous. We were fine but older folks might have a hard time with the tiny step down from the shower. And better lighting for the vanity would have been nice. Steam shower a nice touch. All in all very lovely! Thank you

Great location in London. Larger room than expected with a giant bed which was one of the most comfortable I have slept in. Staff were very helpful. Especially appreciated the arrival when staff helped us with quick information and luggage storage so we could get to something on time. Great restaurant.

Very beautiful rooms and perfect location for Shopping and restaurants

The hotel does not answer any e-mails, no matter which e-mail address you write to. List of restaurant recommendations sent, but no reservations made. At breakfast they charged an incredible €70 for a ginger shot. Hotel manager never available for complaints or queries. Still not received the room bill after more than a month.

The hotel is in a very convenient location. The staff were all very accommodating and friendly. We enjoyed our trip immensely to London and highly recommend St. James!

Booking.com should make it clearer in their statement that “Breakfast is included” … does that mean a “full breakfast” or “continental breakfast”?

Firstly the location of the St James Hotel is fantastic. Just off Piccadilly behind The Ritz, you’re in the heart of Theatre Land. Many restaurant’s, pubs and things to do. The Hotel itself is lovely. Amazing building with lots of history. The rooms were beautiful and very well attended too. The staff were also fantastic and the breakfast which was included in our stay was substantial and excellent. Overall a really great place to stay and when we stay again we will be booking dinner in the restaurant

For us there wasn’t anything at all we didn’t dislike about the property

The hotel was in a fabulous location, was very clean and appealing. The bathroom in particular was excellent. Very classy with marble tops and smart tiling. Lots of storage for toiletries to keep bathroom 'clutter free'

There were no facilities to make a hot drink in the room which would have been appreciated as we came back after being in the cold all day. Room service was not very accessible so had to walk down to reception to order or ring the hotel as an external call as the internal system was working
