Lovely room, clean and good facilities. Bathroom was spotless but the roof went down at a funny angle so makes it awkward to stand in if tall. Not a bad thing though the pub and hotel has lovely character. Pub downstairs is great in the evening and the bar staff were very relaxed, good chat and smiles. The pub is very close to the town but if you’re anything like me after a few pints you’ll find yourselves going to the dominos 30 seconds down the road several times during your stay.
No chef on at the moment, wasn’t too fussed but something to be aware of. Locks on the doors are secure but a bit annoying from the outside. Bathroom curtain bit dirty at the bottom but again, just being picky now.

Beautiful old building, lovely spacious double room (room 4) with attractive features/colour scheme & comfortable mattress on a metal framed double bed. No foot board on the bed - good for taller people! Good sized wardrobe with several hangers. Good kettle, tea, coffee sachets, etc, on a very nice wooden desk with chair. The radiator worked well in the bedroom & there was a heated towel rail if needed in the bathroom, so, despite the time of year (late October) I was very warm. Managers Kathleen & Peter are very helpful & welcoming. Also did their best to add an extra night's stay at short notice (my return train was cancelled last minute). Many thanks. Will definitely stay again when on a future visit (I have family in the area).
Only real criticism is the shower head would be better if it could be lowered or at least turned towards the tiles. It's an over the bath type, at a fixed height which isn't great for a shorter person like myself! This involves quite an expense so I appreciate why it's been left. But perhaps the head itself could be changed so it could be turned towards the wall tiles, would make it easier to use. Other than that, just 2 minor things - the curtains need a few more hooks & it'd be better if the bathroom sash window were fixed - can't be properly closed at the top. However, as I say, for a very old property it's still a great stay & I do recommend this place.

We stayed last year on the top floor, this year we only had one flight of stairs! Beautiful Evie the dachshund is just adorable. Comfortable room and beds, really appreciated during a Bank Holiday festival weekend!
Nothing major. Hand towel, but no bath towel (we were there 5 days!l Loo Roll ran out on the first night because there was hardly any there when we arrived. Milk and biscuits didn't get refilled, so we had to ask for milk every morning. But as I said, just minor niggles.

Location great car parking good staff excellent staff very informative and seemed very keen to ensure we enjoyed our stay
Bedrooms need up dating but I think property’s being renovated at present as bar and dinning area very good No breakfast available but due to close location to town this was not a problem food only available on first night but again we were told by staff about a lovely restaurant very close to hotel

great location with free parking in the centre of a beautiful market town. we were greeted warmly and felt welcome the minute we arrived. the room was spotless, comfy bed and all the facilities you could hope for. staff were very hospitable and we wish them every success in their new venture.
I have seen some comments that I feel are a bit harsh. The new owners have only been in a week so there’s bound to be teething problems. following the pandemic and the cost of living crisis, I think people should be more supportive of family businesses and would encourage people to visit and see for themselves what a great spot this is.

Loved the Greek restaurant and music. Room was spacious and comfortable. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Location was perfect for where we wanted to go etc. Also, free parking was great!
The only thing was that the top room (number 7) where we stayed really smelt of cigarettes. Not sure if someone had been smoking in there before us or whether smoke was entering the room another way. Our clothes really smelt of smoke when we left and we had to leave the window open most of the time. This kind of thing doesn’t usually bother me but it was quite bad!

The room was very spacious and the beds were SO comfortable! Best night's sleep in any hotel we've been to. Fantastic value for money and definitely somewhere we will stay again.
Maybe a spruce up of the outside - a coat of paint to brighten it up. It's a very old building with a lot of history so it's going to have a quirky side to it. Which we loved!

Great location, ease of parking, cleanliness, very friendly staff. Our first night was in a spacious twin room with comfortable beds. Moving rooms was made easy for us by making the second room available early in the day which we appreciated
Our second night was in a double room. I could feel every spring of the mattress and my husband slept badly, too. The shower head needs to have limescale removed, it‘s a very thin flow of water. The liquid soap holder was broken.

The location was excellent as we were attending an event at the premises. The room was warm and comfortable with everything you'd need.
Confusion about how to enter the hotel as were directed one way and then another. No instructions for coffee machine, although a nice touch, hadn't used one of those before. The drop from the bathroom was a bit alarming but ok once we got used to it!

Probably having slept in this hotel in a relatively quiet time has helped. (end of november's weekday) The room was fairly clean, the sheets on the bed clean, the heating working ok. Not the grand hotel, but for the money is not that bad.
Don't expect soundproofing, quite the opposite. Again, it was a quiet weekday, and I can only imagine the noise during weekends... But again is normal is structures like these. you know what you gonna get. For what is offered, probably £10 less would be more appropriate in their tariffs. I reckon the right price for these room shouldn't be more than £45 per night for a double. The bathroom was fairly clean although the actual toilet wasn't unfortunately.
