Room was lovely decorated but on the small side. Really good shower. Bed was very comfortable There were no dressing gowns as advertised. Good parking Excellent restaurant which we ate in every evening. The dining staff were excellent especially the young man who seemed to be in charge. Breakfast was good but a bit inconsistent with the items every day. We like the little seating area outside of our room.

We were in room 18 and could clearly here the people in the next room. Although the daily milk was a nice touch. Because we didn’t have a fridge a lot was wasted.

Absolutely beautiful decorated room. The dinning area was fab too. The food was very good too and parking was on site.

We felt they had staff issues. On arrival we waited at reception and then for someone to come from the bar to say in a loud voice “why do people disappear when needed”!! Eventually someone checked us in. Drink orders were hit and miss and you would have to chase it. Easier to get your own. We stayed 2 nights, I would have expected our room to be attended after the first night but it wasn’t. Tables where left uncleared for longer than expected especially on the terrace.

The entire visit was excellent! Our room was perfect for our overnight stay. Very comfy bed and pillows. Great shower with great water pressure. We dined in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast, and the food and staff attention did not disappoint. Our dinner meals were well prepared. They have a comprehensive wine selection. The venue is very clean and well presented. It is a credit to the owners. You have created an amazing space. Loved the outdoor al fresco area.

There was mould in the bathroom on the bottom few tiles in the corner, and it made the bathroom smell a bit musty. I did bring this to the duty manager's attention before we left as it's a health concern.

Location, comfort & cleanliness. Excellent food & wine menu.

Sadly a hospitality issue across the UK, lack of staff, reception unmanned for a considerable time. Staff in bar & restaurant not sufficient to accommodate a function & guests. Order to receipt of both the wine & food took too long - albeit it was good. Breakfast table although booked in advance wasn’t on the system - one member of staff with too much to do. When arrived some 40 minutes after sitting down was exceptional and well presented. I paid the service charge on the bill as I feel the staff aren’t at fault but the management need to be aware of their failings. It won’t stop me from staying again.

Absolutely beautiful, more than just a room. Beautifully decorated, in beautiful surroundings. Every moment was a wow. We was in a dog friendly room as we took our boy, who was more than happy to find treats awaiting in our lodge. Excellent breakfast and very professional service. Fresh products and we could taste they was locally sourced and great value for money overall Lots of little extra touches that made our stay luxurious. We will definately be back

The only thing we was slightly disappointed with not being able to check in earlier but our fault for arriving to early. We was welcomed to wait in the restaurant. Could hear slight road noise but only with windows open and we was the closest to the road

Our room was number 14 (The Hackney). No expense has been spared in decorating and comfort. As is typical for Europe, the room was not exceptionally large but it was luxuriously appointed and extremely comfortable. A welcome drink and nice tea and coffee service, bottled still and sparkling water all awaited us. Fresh milk and more bottled water awaited me before 6 am for my morning tea. Very comfortable bed and new, modern bathroom. We had dinner in the restaurant and the food, wine and service were just wonderful. Kyle and Elliott are assets to the property. We did not have a drink in the bar but it is beautiful. We had a delicious breakfast (included) the next morning - buffet and a la carte both available. The hotel kept our bags for no charge when we checked in early and went for a walk along the canal, and also while we visited Highclere Castle the next day, which was much appreciated. Front desk staff on check-in and check-out were lovely. We absolutely would stay here again and highly recommend.

Just a heads up, we had a very warm two days and decided to take a cab from the train station to the Inn. Cabs are parked right outside. It would have been a bit of a walk otherwise, although there are sidewalks and it is certainly do-able. Lots of parking onsite if you are driving though. Advantage of taking the cab was we arranged for the same driver to take us to Highclere and pick us up again the next day.

I absolutely loved the decor of the main building and the rooms. All recently done, fresh and interesting. Not your usual bland hotel rooms, they were beautiful. Loved the little touches of drinks in the room and nice toiletries. The staff were all really friendly. Rajesh & his team were always smiling, chatty and helpful. Don't often come across this nowadays. The bar/restaurant is really nice. Good selection of food & drinks, all very tasty. Love that they are dog friendly.

Only minor thing I can say is my room was right on the main road which is quite noisy. The room was pretty warm so needed the window open which meant getting the noise. A fan was provided and needed. But all the other rooms were away from the road so I was just unlucky on this occasion.

Room was small, but beutifully decorated and ideal for a couple of nights. The shower was very good hot water and as with the main room decorated to an exceptional level. We were there 2 nights, first night we had our evening meal there. I thought it was very good and reasonable value for money. (Must say the 2nd night we were out so eat elswhere, but would have been happy to eat at the H&H again). Breakfast was included in our booking. the food was good, a cooked side & buffet.

Our room was close to the beer garden and you could hear the people in it when the windows were open, that said we didn't find it a distraction and obviously went quite when the pub shut. You could also hear the busy A4, but again windows shut all was well (its on the A4 so shouldn't be a surprise). In the restaurant there appeared as with many hospitality places a shortage of staff, they were all working very hard and always polite and smiling. Felt a little sorry for them, they were having to multi task all evening. Regards the breakfast, The buffet seemed a little empty at times, but again, I understand in the present climate they don't want to waste perisable foods by putting them out, if not eaten and if I asked for something the staff were happy to oblige.

First of all, it is the second time I have stayed at the hotel. The staff, the breakfast, the room, the location, dinner...whatever you choose the answer will be excellent.Spotless clean. Perfectly refurbished. I can go there just to stay one night to live the experience again. The staff from the reception to the kitchen are very friendly, and very well trained, and they all have great personalities that create a big difference. I can't thank them enough to show my appreciation. Especially to Max and Andrea. I would definitely go back with pleasure. It is a "must-see and stay" hotel.

Location, meals and layout of bedroom. There were a number of unexpected extras, e.g sloe gin, bottled water and pillow spray which demonstrated that the hotel was very much customer-focused.

It was unfortunate that our room fronted the main road as, despite the apparent efforts of the hotel, the was a high level of traffic noise. However, this did not detract too much from our overall satisfaction. There was a slight delay in checking out as the receptionist twice appeared to incorrectly input my credit card details and the transaction was declined.. When I asked if there was a card reader I could use it went through without a problem, other than then receiving a text from the issuer asking me to confirm that the transaction was genuine. I am not sure why the receptionist tried to input the details manually in the first instance rather than use the card reader.
