Lots of things were great. The receptionists were helpful and friendly. The history of the building was excellent as well as the grounds. We loved the fire in the bar area and the seating arrangement. Staff again were very helpful and friendly. We had lunch which was really good and at a reasonable price. The room was a good size it was clean and tidy so was the ensuite bathroom. We enjoyed our evening meal in the restaurant to which we invited family. The table was set wonderfully. all the right knives and forks . Again the food was good and the price reasonable.

We found the king sized bed uncomfortable as we use natural i.e duck and feather pillows and quilts at home. The mattress protecter didn't seem big enough for the bed. There were shampoo and conditioner bottles in the bathroom AND two small bars of soap. This was greatly appreciated as I had forgotten to pack soap.

This is a unique and historic property, with lovely grounds for a stroll and a beautiful bar area for relaxing with a drink. Dinner at the restaurant was delicious. Staff were all very kind and welcoming.

Our room was not nearly as nice as some of the photos and doesn't have the same historic atmosphere as the common areas. I suppose that it is reasonable for the cheapest room type, but it was a bit of a letdown. In general, the hotel could benefit from more renovations. Also, location is fairly distant from any attractions, would not recommend if you are not driving a car.

Beautiful building in an historic part of Nottingham. Lots of woods to explore. The room was massive, and the bed was really comfortable. Kettle and tea facilities in room; lots of storage; good wifi; Bar and restaurant downstairs. Easy to park. Friendly and helpful staff (but not constantly hovering)

Room lighting could have been brighter - it's set up for relaxing evening (which is lovely), but not really bright enough for reading.

The building itself, an old hunting lodge had great character. Some may find it old fashioned but we loved it. We only booked it as it was just a short drive to the City hospital and had a surprise as to how lovely it was. It was handy for walking and set in beautiful parkland. Staff were all friendly and helpful and couldn’t do enough, even though they were multi tasking. The room was a decent size overlooking the garden area and was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was small but adequate for our needs. Food was of a good standard for a 3 star hotel. All in all good value for money. We’d give it more than 3 stars

The nearest bus stop was quite a walk away but we just drove 5 minutes down the road and parked near Aldi then walked across the road to the bus stop so not a problem for us.

The property is amazing! I accidentally booked the wrong dates and turned up the day after our booking. They staff not only were able to accommodate us, they didn't charge us for the no-show rooms I'd booked the night prior. The property is absolutely stunning, with beautiful original features. Our room was plenty big enough, bed was super comfy and the bathroom was just fine. Breakfast and dinner in the restaurant were delicious and I couldn't fault the service. Overall we were really impressed with the value for money for such a stately property.

No air con in the room and the old windows only open a fraction, and it was particularly hot during our stay. It was difficult to find the address but I think that was more a Google maps issue than the property's fault. Part of the outside of the building and some of the grounds are looking a bit shabby.

The location and ambiance of this Historical Hotel was second to none . After suffering from the restricted travel during Covid and the hospitality trade taking the hit it did I would suggest an open mind whilst visiting such Historical buildings that need a heck of a lot of upkeep and maintenance. Although quite tired the experience we had was excellent. The staff were attentive and the breakfast was what you would expect to get in a four star Hotel within the uk. We will return whilst visiting family in Mapperly.

The hotel is a lovely building with quite some history and is surrounded by a nice wooded area which is great for walking. The staff are very friendly and attended to all our needs. Declan seemed to be manning the front desk and the bar throughout our stay and couldn't do enough to help us, he was fab. The breakfast and the afternoon tea were both great

Although the room itself was clean the windows hadn't been cleaned for ages. The bed was rather soft and there was room for a king size, so a double was an unnecessary squash - even so we were pretty comfortable despite the heatwave. The grounds could be spectacular but they are a bit run down

This property is steeped in History and the new owners whilst leasing the building from the local council are trying their best to improve the buildings condition.

Perhaps a custodian to look after the ground directly outside the building. Place chairs on the outside terrace at an angle to tables in the finish of the day to protect and keep dry. Collect empty glasses. This would improve customer perception.

Beautiful setting. Very Peaceful. Friendly and helpful staff. Spacious room and spacious bed. Good TV. Good mirrors. Lovely views. Free parking. Close to local amenities.

Pillows not normal hotel standard. Not enough plug sockets. No air con although fortunately we didn't need it. Quite dated bathroom, due a refurb. Breakfast way too expensive so ate elsewhere.

Loves the location n the ground , beautiful views & plenty of grounds for kids to have a run around n play. Loved the historical side . Beds were comfy , clean , plebty if hot water &large bath , all facilities were provided in the room. Breakfast was amazing plenty of choice including full English buffet. Staff, especially janine, went above &beyond to accommodate for the elders in the group, changing and making up rooms for easier access. Making sure we were all happy as it was a large group booking. All staff were pleasent and polite. Loved a little 2 night break here and would highly recommend
