We were at a 2 day event in the nearby park so the Mercure was the perfect location, though it was a short distance into the city. Superb hotel, staff couldn't be more welcoming. I'd definitely choose this place over the city centre hotels in the future. It was very hot weather when we visited, so the air conditioning and comfortable room was the perfect environment to return to at the end of our days there.

The dining room, bar/lounge and reception areas are spacious with modern tasteful decor, providing a great place to relax. The bed was very comfortable, definitely not one of those you put up with for a couple of nights. Breakfast and evening cocktails were superb. Also everything you may need is close by with a nice pub opposite and supermarket round the corner.

Comfortable, no frills room, but everything you need to hand. Great well equipped bathroom. Great lighting, especially the handy reading lights, thoughtful touches that just make Ariel difference. Staff were helpful, cheerful and efficient. Particularly the lovely gent we met at breakfast time, John couldn’t do enough for everyone, nothing was too much trouble, he is a real asset to the hotel! Masses of variety for breakfast, couldn’t fault it. Great hotel, whether for leisure or business.

Maybe a couple more tea-bags and milk sachets, but just my personal preference.

Wonderful overall experience at Mercure Sherwood - beautiful decor/architecture made for a lovely atmosphere. From the mild green on the brickwork in the dining area, to the embroidery "defaced" old portraits on the way to reception, little details really added to hoe visually pleasing it all was. Breakfast was delicious (served from 6:30am to 10am Mon-Fri) and came in generous servings. John and Simran, who were working on our stay, were very smooth and helpful. It made for a seemingly seamless operation, which made my morning feel easier. Also, they were both very helpful in different ways - love a bit of pro-activeness! Would highly recommend (especially given the especially nice location and amenities)!

It would've been nice to have more than one mirror in the bedroom space. It meant I had to be standing pretty much the entire time I was doing my makeup, which was really tiring. Though my room was a standard double, so maybe the other rooms have this amenity. I'd say it's worth checking if you'll be spending a significant amount of time getting ready.

This hotel was very clean and had very friendly staff. Upon entering the hotel, I wanted to drop off my bags as I had a business meeting in 3 hours time; the lovely receptionist told me that I may be able to check in for free. She found a room available at 11am which meant that I could leave my bags in my room and get some rest before I headed to the meeting; this saved me a lot of time. I didn’t manage to use the leisure facilities, but I’m sure they were lovely. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. I couldn’t have the meat options, but the hash browns were perfectly crispy and the mushrooms were huge. Baked beans were of high quality (Branstons or Heinz). Staff were also really friendly. 8/10

Friendly staff especially the waiter on breakfast duty who gave us a few tips on places to visit and went to the trouble of finding a book for us to read on local sites to visit. Breakfast was good, plenty of choices. We didn't have evening meal at the hotel but chose the pub across the road as we thought the hoyel menu a little expensive. The only problem we had was being able to hear conversations from people in the next room and the boom boom bass of rap music but it stopped at 9pm so not a great problem. We didn't use the spa as my partner was unwell. I would recommend the Mecure Sherwood

Soundproofing was not too good we had noise from adjoining rooms. Hotel was not in the centre so we had to use the car to go into town but this did not bother us

Hotel staff went above and beyond to assist us given the situation of the police line which had surrounded our first night's stay and prevented us from checking in. The phoned to let us know when the police line finally got removed (too late for us to check in), but ensured we were well catered for when we could check in the next day. They kept us fully informed and also gave us complimentary drinks to make up for the inconvenience of something that was out of their own control. The staff acted very professionally and had everything in hand, even though this was something beyond their control.

Some areas of the property could do with a bit of TLC - the pool and change areas could be improved, but otherwise the ambiance and friendliness of staff, and also the renovated portions of the hotel including lobby areas and rooms more than made up for this.

Easy location to find. Parking was accessible and close to the entrance. The check-in staff was very friendly and kind enough to provide us with a complimentary drink. The facilities in the room were ideal for the one night stay, comfortable bed. Gym was very accessible, whilst small it done the job, as did the swimming facilities. The bar and lounge area was great. Good Wifi connection throughout, ideal for holding any business meetings.

The room itself was very compact. Having to walk side ways to get around the bed to the other side of the room. The TV is slightly dated, had to switch off from the mains as it had frozen with no response from the remote control.

Staff. Did not interact much but they we sutiably helpful when we did. Parking good facilities, espcially for diasbled access

Room was comfortable and clean but a little small with little room around the bottom of the bed, and not a lot of space for substantial luggage. Good to have access to a pool, although I only got the chance to use it once. Used the bar twice but it was bit pricy. Breakfast, even if booked the night before, was a bit pricy for the mediocre quality.

The ambiance of the hotel was amazing. Very clean, comfortable and cosy. The location is very close to Nottingham city centre so there is plenty to do. The drinks are amazing, the breakfast was also rather nice. The bed was also comfortable and the shower was brilliant. Decent sized TV in the room also which was nice.

The only downfall we experienced was one particular member of staff in the evening who didn’t seem at all interested in being at work. We were made to wait a few minutes before she offered to serve us, even though she was aware of our presence. We asked for a Sex on the Beach to which she stood there vacantly looking at us before asking us to wait a minute whilst she asked someone else to serve us.

Location and size of the room - and the staff were very efficient and welcoming. This is an old hotel - but it’s great for visiting city - a walk away - across the Forest recreation ground to tram - and loads of buses too. Free parking close to city is real bonus.

The pool area needs a good clean and could do with refurbishment. Our basin drain was blocked when we arrived - and although maintenance sorted it quickly - it was a bit off putting. We didn’t have breakfast -,way too expensive at £13 if booked on arrival and £18 if you just turn up.
