Lovely breakfast room Excellent breakfast. Helpful staff

We didn't like that dogs are allowed into the breakfast room the restaurant areas . Don't like the fact that more and more hotels are letting dogs into the hotels. This is a personal thing, but we don't appreciate being greeted by heavily tattooed staff with unkempt hair and we would have liked to see more staff in some sort of uniform.

Quiet attractive location. Parking v close to the hotel reception which was so convenient with baggage. Great breakfast and helpful staff on both the restaurant and reception. Nice walk into Oxford and close to bus routes too.

Bedroom didn’t have bottled water facilities

Staff were all friendly.and when I told them it was my partners birthday the day we arrived they put card and few gifts in room that's a lovely touch. We loved that it was 12 clock out time on departure day makes alot difference it's not to early.

Just such ashame they had power cut sat morning we relise it wasn't hotels fault but we couldn't have showers or do my hair and we were goin to a wedding. then we had noisy generator allnite just outside are room even with window closed it was noisy. All that wasn't hotels fault but really spoilt it we got 100pd refund but I think perhaps we should got bit more back.

The hotel was set in beautiful grounds with places to sit and relax outside. Inside the decor was quirky - reflecting the things special to Oxford - brogues, trousers (bags) and shirts. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. and the bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with so much variety and choice. We ate in the hotel and the meals were good - though I’d have liked more choice of meals without fish or meat.

I’m old fashioned and would have liked a chest of drawers to store my clothes - it was adequate, though, if you were only there for a day or two. We stayed for 5

Everything about the hotel was first rate. The room was lovely and quiet with an extremely comfortable bed with all facilities provided in the room. The evening meal was fantastic and the service impeccable. Breakfast was absolutely marvellous - so much to choose from and all food of such excellent quality. The location is perfect at less than two miles from Oxford city centre. The staff were first rate in every way. I had sustained a leg injury prior to travelling and had to use crutches. The reception staff and restaurant staff were so kind and helpful that I cannot give them enough praise.

Nothing at all

This is a great little hotel that is modern and convenient. We stayed here after going to Blenheim Palace Christmas market and it’s about 25 minutes away from there and then about 10/15 bus ride into Oxford with bus stops just 100m away from the hotel. Free parking on site is always welcome. Very easy check in and check out process with professional and welcoming staff.

The bed was a little small for me and also being on the ground floor with some of the exterior of the hotel to the side of our room we got some background noise from housekeeping emptying bins etc but this wasn’t until around 8/9am.

Our stay was made truly exceptional by the incredible staff, who went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. They shared helpful tips about the local area and the best ways to get around, patiently explained how to use the room’s controls, and even advised us on the ideal times to order room service. They went the extra mile by helping us set up our laptop in the room, and when it was time to head out, they not only arranged a taxi but also allowed us to leave our car at the hotel for the day, such thoughtful service! The room itself was spacious, comfortable, and cosy. With the bad weather during our visit, we chose to relax and fully enjoy the hotel and loved every minute of it.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Mercure Hotel for a family weekend, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. I had informed the hotel team beforehand that we were celebrating a special announcement from my husband, and their thoughtful efforts truly made our stay unforgettable. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the receptionist, who was incredibly kind, cheerful, and attentive. All the information provided was extremely helpful—thank you for such excellent service. My husband was delighted by the thoughtful birthday surprises, including a delicious muffin, creamy fudges, and a beautifully presented birthday card. The housekeeping team exceeded our expectations with their meticulous attention to detail, creating a beautifully arranged room that was both welcoming and comfortable. The room was spotless, and the bed for our son was already prepared—everything was perfect. Breakfast was another highlight of our stay, with a variety of delicious options and a friendly, attentive team. A special thank you to Camille for going above and beyond by preparing a hot chocolate just for our son—it was such a kind gesture that he truly appreciated. Finally, the peace and quiet of the hotel at night ensured we had a restful sleep, with the exceptionally comfortable mattress adding to the experience. This was our first visit to Oxford, and the Mercure Hotel made it an unforgettable one. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a perfect blend of comfort, excellent service, and thoughtful details. Thank you to the entire team for making our weekend so special!

Just 1 bottle of water in our room

Breakfast was very good, although overpriced for the amount I eat. Dinner was excellent. I had one dinner in my 4 night stay. There was insufficient choice on the menu to meet the requirements of my vegetarian diet, had I wanted to have dinner more than once.

I was unhappy with my room which was far away from the main hotel, very small and up many stairs. I complained and was moved to a much nicer room on day 2, for the rest of my 4 night stay. Assurances given to me by a member of reception staff shortly after arrival about a move to another room were not passed on to staff on duty the next day. I had to explain my situation again. Fortunately I was listened to and another room was made available to me. I wasn't told given any indication of the layout of the hotel when I arrived, eg the location of facilities such as the dining room and breakfast room.

It is located in a lovely, quiet neighborhood and accessible to Oxford city center via either a lovely walk along the Thames “towpath” or via the frequent and inexpensive 3 or 3X buses. The staff is quite friendly, helpful & knowledgeable.

We couldn’t just order a bowl of porridge, have a bowl of yogurt with berries, or just toast - we had to pay the full price of 18pounds each; which was the same price as a full breakfast buffet. A bit steep for a bowl of porriage! On the brighter side: the lady at the door was lovely & accommodating with pots of tea for us.
