David and Jackie were excellent, friendly hosts who made sure we knew to ask if we needed anything. The room was clean and spacious with decent bathroom and storage. Lots of room to park and very close to so many wonderful scenic areas. Cooked breakfast was also excellent.

We were just surprised that despite staying 3 nights the room was not attended to. We always keep our room tidy but generally expect that things you use are cleaned or replenished. Not a major thing but for 170 a night some touches like water in the room would be good.

The Countryman was in a good location and we liked that it was in the countryside with a garden. We appreciated having lots of room to park. Our room was comfortable with a good sized bed and lots of storage. Even though the property is beside the road it wasn’t noisy. We enjoyed the tasty breakfasts and the tea tray in our bedroom was useful. Our hosts were friendly and very helpful.

The only thing really was the electric shower which we were not good at adjusting. Also for me the spiders in the bath - but that’s my phobia! - I have the same problem here at home. Definitely the outside and garden area could be tidied up and reception areas could do with some updating sometime in the future.

The room was clean and tidy and had everything we could have needed and the bathroom was very good and we could not fault anything about the room at all, we were very impressed with all aspects, a very comfy bed, a TV, tea making facility etc, what more could you want. Also the breakfast was 100% served in a really nice dining room with all the facilities we needed or could ask for. We stayed for an evening meal one night and all the food was delicious and the service was friendly and efficient. The owners and the staff went out of their way to make our stay totally enjoyable and we would not hesitate to stay there again, or recommend The Countryman to anyone who wanted an enjoyable stay in that part of Cornwall, we cannot praise this as a place to stay highly enough.

Nothing to not like as we were catered for so well you could not have asked for more and the room, bathroom were just right. the dining room was clean tidy and decorated and equiped very well so nothing to improve at all. We could not fault anything.

Small friendly family operated inn. Family room on 2nd floor is quite big. Separate toilet. Carpets in rooms and hallways/steps. Continental (fresh fruits, juice, cereals, bread, packaged croissants etc) and very tasty English (freshly made on request) breakfast. Big garden with lots of seating tables. Very tasty cream tea. Easy to reach St.Ives and other places.

Pub area is more living room style, a bit too private for our taste.. Street is a bit loud, but we were happy to have no window towards the street.

Beautiful B&B, room was comfy & clean everything you needed, breakfast excellent the choice was amazing, fabulous hosts very welcoming & helpful.

Was a little disappointed that the restaurant was closed on the 2 nights we were staying, and it wasn't stated on the website. It was one of the reasons we chose the countryman. the choice of Gins was limited to just plain Gin, perhaps adding some flavoured Gins for us Gin lovers, also the road was very busy & fast making it impossible to go for a walk.

Very welcoming hosts. Great and plentiful breakfast. All rooms were freshly redecorated and restyled to a modern level. There is ample car parking. The bed is very comfortable and the shower powerful and hot. There is a licensed bar in warm communal room. Getting in and out of St Ives is time consuming so the location outside of town is good if you are sightseeing other places.

Spotting it from the roadside is not easy in the dark. We stayed 5 nights and found it difficult to have dry towels as there was only a small wall heater in our room.

First of all before i write my review, you need to discard Booking .Com on their information regarding The Countryman Hotel, ALL rooms have en-suite facilities and breakfast IS provided. Booking.Com need to update their information to reflect this!! This could actually put people off and not book, not good for the proprietors at all. David and Jackie, have recently taken over the Countryman Hotel, they made us very welcome from the onset and made us feel at home straight away. They were so helpful throughout our 4 day break, nothing was too much trouble. They are truly a lovely dedicated couple. Excellent parking and some lovely local pubs within a short walk. The location of the hotel is ideal to get to the surrounding areas. There is a large a secluded garden area which we enjoyed on the warmer nights of our stay, having a few drinks. Breakfast was absolutely amazing with a good selection of fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereals, drinks etc. However i would really recommend David's full English breakfast which will more than set you up for the day. He was quite alert on what came back on the plates and noticed that i did not eat the whites of my eggs and on the second day he provided me with 2 egg yolks perfectly cooked, which continued throughout our stay !! I cannot recommend the breakfast highly enough. The other guests were also commenting on the quality of the food. Our room was very comfortable, decorated well with a en-suite. and beautiful "smellies" provided. We slept like a log !!! Great bar area and pool table off from the bar. The décor is warm and inviting, just like the owners. I would definitely stay here again and it will be nice to see what David and Jackie have done to the exterior/gardens as the have plans to improve.

Difficult to say as we genuinely had a great time. The only thing at the moment , i would suggest is heaters for the garden area but it is early days and i am sure this will be on their "to-do-list"

The venue, location, the management and the hospitality extended by David and Jackie. Jackie and David own this place and have ensured that the upkeep is second to none. They both ensured that our family of 4 (with 2 small kids) were given extra care and attention and we got everything we needed. They also posted pieces of cutlery that we had left at the property back to our home address, which was a pleasant surprise. I will rate them a straight 10 on all aspects and will definitely stay at the CountryMan when we visit St. Ives again. Thanks for the amazing hospitality, Jackie and David.

Breakfast was excellent! Loved it! Freshly cooked every morning and all good ingredients. David and Jacqueline were the best hosts, they go above and beyond to accommodate. Great family run business. The location was fantastic plenty of parking and garden space. Highly recommend.

Clean, Spacious rooms. Enjoyable common area - with a wonderful fire place, pool table and little bar. Good breakfast and food Most of all , warm, friendly and welcoming hosts in David and Jackie, the owners. Thank you both, for a wonderful stay. whilst we did not get to spend much time, there is a nice large Garden. Would make a brilliant place in the summer, when they do BBQ’s and beer
