We were worried with all the poor reviews, but were pleasantly surprised. Great value for money, good location, great views, spacious room with super king bed, comfy mattress, clean bedding, clean towels, staff friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay again.

Hotel is looking tired in places and needs redecorating / painting, but being a busy hotel envisage it makes it difficult to carry out whilst keeping the hotel open. If you are expecting a 5 star experience, with everything crisp, fresh and new then this hotel is not for you, but if you are after somewhere to stay which is a good value for money in St Ives, in a good location, views and most importantly clean bedding, towels, comfy bed and spacious then give it a try (we booked a sea view double but room given must of been a family room with a single bed and super king bed)

The hotel is situated by the beach and a short walk to the town centre. Easy to travel too. The hotel has lots of character. Would have liked to know more about its history. The staff were nice and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. They were always working hard. The room was really spacious and the beds were comfortable and clean. Good choice at breakfast would have loved some mushrooms though. We had a sea view and listening to the waves at night absolutely loved it. I would stay here again.

Just needs updating especially the carpets and the lift. The lift is so tiny felt like it was going to breakdown every time we used it. When we checked in we were supposed to be given the breakfast vouchers but not given them so was asked by staff every morning where they were. Only other thing is we were told where we had to sit for breakfast despite being down first would have just liked to sit by the window one morning. Only other critique is that it sounded like someone was banging on pipes at 2am every nite but I brought headphones so that sorted that.

It was located approx 5 minutes (maybe les) walk from the station. It was nice and clean, tidy, and very friendly. And you can have breakfast with big, beautiful and spacious sea views. The beds are clean and comfy (not too hard or soft). The room was very clean, with kettle, mugs, coffee, tea & sugar. And the shower was lovely and hot, with nice bath towels to dry yourself with. It’s location is perfect for the beaches (as these are split into 2 main ones), the town with its amazing shops and crazy layout, and the local busses (which go afar a field as Penzance)! If you don’t know it already, St. Ives is VERY hilly. So the hotel is situated halfway up the main road into St. Ives (just above where the train station is). So, if you’re looking for a cost efficient, clean, and friendly place to stay, I can happily recommend it (just request a room not near the communal doorway or at the back).

My room was at the back of the hotel, which backed out onto a main road, so was rather noisy until late evening 10pm ish. With traffic starting up again by about 7:30am. The communal door outside my room was also noisy because it banged shut every time someone went through, which happened again late evening and very early in the morning (05:30am), as the couple a few doors down took their dog for an early morning walk).

Nothing

Unconfortable It was unhappy situation there. Because when I've got there they gave me another diferite room(in bad way) what I've seen when I've booked to your web site. And when I asked them why I received diferite room they said it is ,,booking.com,, mistake because they put false information on the web site. More than that the room's windous doesn't close well in that maner you can tgrough into your fingers between frame window and window. After I had argue 15 minutes with hotel manager and he told me at a point if I don't like that room I can doing chek out and go they but in finally they gave me another room for stay there. So it was bad experience there in first day .

We were only staying for a couple of nights. Our room was plain, but clean, possibly freshly decorated, the bedlinen was fresh and nice, the bed comfortable, and tea/coffee facilities all good, and a good hairdryer. There were basic toiletries (handwash and body/hair wash) in the bathroom, plus a bathtub as well as shower, which is unusual, especially at this price point. Also, the loo paper was good quality! A little thing, but makes life more comfortable. It was nice and warm, with windows that were easy to open for fresh air. 😊

Some of the furniture, and carpets (in dining room) were a bit shabby. Our view (over the bins) was obscured by a panel covering one of the panes. It looked like a piece of painted wood you might use to cover a breakage, but was sealed in. These were only small things and we weren’t staying for long, so it was fine.

Excellent location very spacious and the breakfast was fantastic

The room was in need of a lick of paint but it was clean apart from the bed cover had what looked like a coffee stain on it , the mattress was terrible very springy and one side had a big dip in it to the point it wasn’t really a mattress that side at all , the room above us the floor boards creaked very badly it felt like somebody was walking around in our room The bathroom was spotless and plenty of towels were available, the sea view was fabulous Parking was available in a garage at rear of hotel

The ambience typically traditionally British and the lounge ,dining space , all and of course the Family room ..nicely spacious and well thought out for the guests ..also the bathroom was traditional and nice The Location of this hotel was the best and matched by only the Harbour Bay Hotel . .

The absence of a intercom (or did I miss it !? ) The worn out old carpeting all over evrn though it was clean was damaging the looks The lack of proper power on the Shower jet The non functional Towel warmer stand And the traditional separation of hot and cold water should have been replaced by a modern Mixer tap on the wash basin .

My second stay at the hotel. Lovely staff, great location and despite the fact that the room with the balcony and amazing view was occupied this time, I had a great short stay again. I don't usually eat in the mornings, so didn't book breakfast but asked for coffee and was ready to pay for it, was told to get one on the house to enjoy my morning and I really did. Not the matter of the money that coffee would cost but the attitude, feeling to be welcome. Thank you very much for this very pleasant experience.

The staff were very friendly at breakfast. Check in was very good and help us to get a parking space. The duty manger at night was very friendly and helpful and arranged for me have a good table for my birthday evening meal and made it special, Fred also brought me and my husband a birthday drink. Hill behind the bar helped with information on buses and was friendly. When we checked out Fred gave me a bottle of wine a big thank you. A very enjoyable stay will go again.

Location was excellent, only a short walk to the harbour with seaviews from 1 of our rooms and the restaurant. The online price was very good also for the double and twin room we purchased, with a bonus of a free upgrade to sea view for the twin room. Nice breakfast for £10 each, and liked the fact their was an area for locals and dog lovers to bring their pets in and enjoy a breakfast.

Car park/garage was very vert tight with not many spaces, and had my wheel arch scratched due to how difficult it was to get in and out. Hotel is old, so rooms did not have air conditioning, but did provide a fan. The weather was exceedingly hot for the time of year so it was slightly uncomfortable trying to sleep with just a small fan trying to cool the room. Very small TV in the room but had the Rugby on in the lounge area.
