Good breakfast with plenty of choice, the room we had was an "easy access" type, although the space between the bed and the was a little tight you would have no problem manoeuvring a standard wheel chair between the bedroom and toilet area, the shower is a wet room and will take a chair. The location is ideal for visiting the Royal Dockyard and Mary Rose being only 5 minutes by foot.. All the staff were polite and very helpful.

Only one lift was working at the time, without it disabled access via the stair would be very difficult, the bar was a bit "barn" like with little atmosphere, the pool was quite small and not always available to guests as it is also used by locals. Evening meals were good but few guests used the restaurant in the evening which was a shame so the atmoshere was a bit flat

The room was well decorated & clean. Not the original room though. We booked a double accessible room. A fully accessible room with 2 adjustable beds was overkill for my needs, so Sarah found us another room. It was better, but there was no railing system in the bathroom. The staff were excellent for the most part. Sarah, Dana & Becca were excellent. Chef was great on Thurs, the most delicious croissants. Sadly, for some reason, I couldn't have a latte at breakfast, which seemed a little restricted in today's society.

Whirlpool wasn't functioning & the pool is a little small. Some of the rooms could be more accessible for the less mobile, the addition of grab rails in the bathrooms would make such a difference.

The hotel is located right near to the port area and 5 min walk to gunwharf quays shopping centre. The hotel itself is beautiful and the rooms are lovely, we stayed in a newly refurbished room which was amazing, huge very comfy bed, tea, coffee & hot chocolate in the room and a huge bathroom with bath and shower as well as twin sinks. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the restaurant was very good. Breakfast was delicious and there was loads of choice with hot and cold selections. We had dinner one evening in the restaurant which was also very good. We would definitely stay here again on our next visit.

Liked the fact we were allowed to check in early, the cleanliness was very good. Military discount at the bar was very good.

The breakfast let the stay down for us. We went to breakfast approx 09.15am. There was hardly any fresh hot food on display, there was no glasses for the juice, no butter for the toast. There was only one Muffin on display. When the hot food was replenished it was cold, sausages brought out after at least 30-40 mins later although they were hot. We observed other people asking for hot water for their tea as it was empty, and guests were asking for clean cups as theirs were not clean. Our table was wobbly and we ended up spilling hot drinks everywhere. I feel this lets your hotel down and I would not recommend anyone book the breakfast there.

The hotel is situated close to Gunwharf Quays, so was a great location for our Black Friday shopping. Rooms had everything you needed & bathroom looked like it had been recently refurbished. Breakfast was lovely & great selection. I felt it was good value as room rate included breakfast. All staff were welcoming & helpful.

Parking not great. We arrived at 1pm on Saturday & there were no parking spaces at the hotel, so we parked in multi storey opposite, which cost £14 for 24hours. So whilst OK, we were unlucky to not get a space. They do mention on website there is limited parking & obviously there is nothing they can do to change it!

Location was great being 100mtrs or so form quatside. Really good breakfast with choice of cooked and continental. Very attentive and friendly staff at all places (bar, reception, breakfast, cleaning staff, ancilliary staff). Decor was really good in public areas and in keeping with the nautical tradition of the hotel. Public aread really clean and being constantly being attended to to (repairs in progress in parts but did not intrude on stay).

We are accustomed to paying our bar bill at the end of any hotel stay. My wife was very upset on our last night to go to the bar to be told that there was a hold on our debit card. She had to go to reception to authorise an increase in limit. We should have been told at checkin about bar tab limit. Should not have to learn the hard way. Not keen on fittings in the shower. Soap dish loose. No grab handles.

Such helpful & friendly staff everywhere, lots of room to sit about & relax.Places with music - or quiet places. Individual style, rather than the standardised decor of chain of Hotels.Has a sense of its history so near the harbour. It’s also a Club with a jacuzzi etc …: so locals are there too. Goodly atmosphere about. Great to have a real bath - not always available nowadays.

Curtains falling of the end of the rail (as so often) - I travel with a bulldog clip against the daylight at dawn experience. Such nice staff in the restaurant but possibly the worst food ever.

From the moment we arrived staff at reception gave us a lovely welcome and this continued in all areas .everyone so helpful .lovely characterful building .our bedroom clean and comfortable lots of hot water in bathroom .good WiFi reception .best breakfast we have in a long time in a hotel .we parked in car park over road and we were given a voucher to help towards some of the the cost .close to the victory gate and railway station and shopping outlet .would definitely stay again .

Can't really fault it .bathroom could perhaps do with an update but it was spotless .

Horatio restaurant was nice for dinner and breakfast, the bed was big and comfortable and the room was a nice temperature. Good location for Gunwharf Keys shopping.

Upon arrival there was no staff present in reception. When she did arrive she was unhelpful and didn't inform us to put the card in the reader to activate the electric in the room. Telephone calls to reception were never answered. Fire alarm went off at 11.50pm, twice, and no one was around to inform guests it was a false alarm. No bottle of water in the room as indicated on booking confirmation. Upon leaving the staff member was very unprofessional, left us waiting for ages, bought out a big bag of money to give notes to another staff member from the restaurant and was very unprofessional when we asked about the fire alarm during the night. The only good member of staff we came across was the waitress in the restaurant on Saturday night.

The hotel is situated very close to the Portsmouth Heritage Attractions on the Waterfront & within easy walking distance from Portsmouth Harbour Railway Station & Bus Station. The ensuite double room I booked was comfortable, clean & met my needs perfectly. The Buffet Breakfast is included in the price & included cereals, juices, tea coffee, as well as everything one would expect from a 'Full English.' I chose a modest breakfast, but there was no restrictions on those guests who wished to indulge further in the tasty fare. I would definitely book The Royal Maritime Club again & recommend it to others who are looking for value for money at a very reasonable cost.

There was nothing about The Royal Maritime Club that I disliked.
