The room was clean and the staff were helpful and friendly. It is in a good location and central to everything in the high street. The garden was nice and spacious. To reiterate - the staff were good and checked that our meals were okay and we were served quickly. The gardener/handy-person was very efficient in tidying up the rear outside area and was very amicable.

It would have been nice to have a notice in the room to say how to switch on the radiator in the bathroom. I did mention this when I checked out. Also, two things, but not drastic - the tables were sometimes sticky and needed to be cleaned - especially when it was not busy - an easy thing to do. The other issue is a request to bar staff - please can you stop throwing empty bottles into the bin - it is very loud and made me jump several times. I survived though with slightly frayed nerves! At least they aimed correctly and didn't hit me!!

A lovely modern bedroom room and bathroom in a room that retained its period charm of original wooden beams and sash windows and with ample storage space. The pub-hotel is an old, old building with huge fireplaces and interesting information boards about historic Rochester and its famous people . Main bar areas are standard Wetherspoons decor and the accommodation areas are designer smart. Exceptionally comfortable bed and surprisingly 'quiet' room for a room above a pub on a high street. Of course we could hear the laughter from downstairs but it did not deter us from a good night's sleep.

Would probably be more pleasant to stay on nights other than Fridays and Saturdays when the pub is heaving and the High street really busy. Overall very happy with our stay and would use it again.

This is a nice establishment. Unfortunately 1 member of staff(Duty Manager) was extremely rude when we raised with her that our room hadn’t been serviced. Her reply was that she did start until 2pm so it wasn’t her fault. She continued to argue and show no understanding of the situation. The morning after we checked out the the Senior Manager called us to apologise profusely for the room not being serviced and the rudeness of her staff. Such a shame as we had had a lovely day and came back having to deal with aggravation.

The staff attitude

The room, genuinely one of the nicest I've been in. Staff were friendly and helpful with what I needed. Good price for food and drink. If every spoons was run like this one Wetherspoons would be regarded much better. Absolute chads, every single staff member. Genuinely nothing. The only thing I would suggest is a bath mat- my bathrooms floor got a bit wet even after using a x2 small towels to use as a makeshift one. It's not a huge thing and didn't dimish my experience in the slightest

We booked a deluxe room for one night, as we had been meaning to try this place for a while. I thought the room was excellent, everything was good quality and had little touches like hot chocolate, biscuits and water provided. Bearing in mind this room was cheaper than the Travelodge - what good value. I was concerned about check-in, especially if the pub was busy - but they have a dedicated section and all the staff were very helpful.

Thin loo paper - but that is a personal thing!

Having stayed in a lot of "pubs with rooms" over the years, my expectations weren't high. But the sound insulation was excellent (I was on the first floor, directly over the bar, at Halloween, but it was genuinely peaceful). The room was a good size, clean and comfortable with a spotless bathroom. Looking out over the High Street was distinctly Dickensian!

When I came back to the room the day after I arrived, I was a bit surprised that the bins hadn't been emptied, or the used crockery removed/replaced. The bed had been made, but I think the other two things are equally important. Very minor point, but there was only oat milk available to put in tea (and it's vile!).

The hotel was in a great location, right on the high street. It was less than 10 minutes from the station, and close to shops and restaurants. The room was a really good size with and an interesting shape - with a beamed feature. The bathroom was very smart. There were lots of sockets and lights. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Because it was right on the high street, it was quite noisy in the morning. There didn’t seem to be free wifi.

Really nice place in centre of historical Rochester. Great room in older part of building. Never thought whetherspoons could do accomodation but looks like they can and do it well

Bedrooms not good for those with limited mobility. No car park on site. Use long stay opposite old railway station, after dropping luggage near to hotel. I used short stay, you'll get 10mins free.

Breakfast could have been better.. frazzled eggs and dry muffins also not presented very well and no napkins.

Did not like all the stairs to reach the accommodation, was not mentioned on the info as it may have altered my idea of staying there as my mobility is a little impaired. Also, although the beds were comfy, the pillows were awful, hard and flat.

Very happy face lol Friendly staff, reasonable price and great location as it's on Rochester High Street. Ate here and the food was spot on and drinks very reasonable. Ideal for exploring Rochester. Close to Cathedral and Castle. Small carpark right next to property and Blue Badge holders can park free.

It was a very pleasant stay. There is nothing that they could have improved on, in our opinion. Would definitely stay here again.
