Staff were professional but super friendly. Parking was limited, however, there was a parking lot available right behind the hotel, and was free, with the hotel scratch card, truly appreciated that. Room was very spacious, clean and surprisingly, nicely upgraded for a 13th century place, yet still kept its character! Loved the decor, lovely out dooor patio area. Would highly recommend it to my friends.
I cannot think of anything negative to say about my stay. There was no elevator to the rooms, so if you have heavy baggage, it could be a bit of a struggle. although, not too many stairs to climb. However, the front desk did have someone help bring up my bags for me!

The room had a nice view over the court yard. The breakfast was good and we enjoyed sitting in the courtyard having coffee before we left. The lady on reception was extremely helpful and booked us a taxi when it was time to leave.
There were few staff in the restaurant at breakfast time when came to checking in for a table and we had to go looking for someone to provide us with coffee. The issues were quickly resolved.

This is a historic site and it’s really cool! The entrance is beautiful and the reception/main floor is really pretty. It’s a labyrinth of a floor plan with multiple, funky levels easy to get lost in! Floors are creeky and you can tell it’s a historic place but it doesn’t feel dirty and old, it’s well maintained. We found it fun to figure our way around the cool ups and downs of the floor plan. There are historic relics throughout also. Our room was really neat, very clean and charming. Very nice shower and spacious bathroom. The bed was fantastic-clean linens and very comfortable! The staff was so kind and very helpful with everything from printing out a document I needed to storing our luggage after check out while we explored Stonehenge. You can get a hot breakfast but we did the quick breakfast bar and it was wonderful as we started our day. This place was a very last minute booking for us and we only stayed one night. I wish we could have stayed longer. I would highly recommend this to anyone coming to the area and will stay here again if I get back there!
Nothing about the property really except the room we had was on the side where there was a bar across the street. The bar had a live band and loud patrons that were going until early in the morning. We had our window open a little to let some cool air in so that also increased the noise. It wasn’t ideal but we blocked it out and still slept well because we were so tired from traveling. I would recommend requesting not to stay on that side though.

We were impressed with the Red Lion from the moment we arrived. An enormous amount of effort has been made to make this a warm and cosy environment that anyone would want to stay in; with large sofas, wooden beams and fireplaces. We sat in the secluded but spacious courtyard for a few drinks after settling into our room. Our room was sparkling, fresh, and very comfortable. Every member of staff we met was incredibly friendly and helpful. It is located in the centre of Salisbury so perfect for outings. We paid extra for breakfast which was also great. A perfect full English and lots of other fresh options on the cold banquet table.
Literally the only issue we had was the noisy bar/club opposite which was right outside our room window. But the music stopped about 11, not long after we got back from dinner. The hotel has also added an extra set of glazing that could be pulled across and helped a lot.

Very pleasant in every respect. The mattress for example was superb. I'm a fusspot where mattresses are concerned. And everything was spotlessly clean. And this of course is far more essential these days, than ever before. Location was perfect. Staff very friendly and helpful too. We ate in, on the two nights that we stayed. The food was very nice and cooked to perfection. The restaurant was in our opinion, underused. This must be attributable to the lack of advertising, rather than the lack of the quality. It seemed to be such a shame because the chef really knew his business. The only disappointment was the bar. No real ale, nor locally sourced ale either. Bottles! But that was all. I suppose its because of the time and trouble that quality "real ale" demands. My wife on the other hand thinks that I'm being pernickety on the subject of "real ale!". But in my opinion its worth the effort. All in all. Would we return? Yes of course we would, without a doubt.
No draught ale!!!!!!". Everything else was fine. But my lovely wife has interjected, once again. As is her want and said that it is a hotel and NOT a pub! So once again. I've been put in my place!

Reception staff were helpful and accommodating - our TV did not work on arrival & we reported this as we left for lunch - when we returned TV was on in the room and working absolutely fine. As we had used the available milk provided in the room, a helpful young lady in the breakfast area provided small jug of milk for additional cups of morning tea. Room was very nice with an old open feature brick fireplace and very comfortable large bed. Although we didn't have the breakfast ourselves it certainly looked very nice indeed
bathroom should have a curtain over the small window - when using sink with bathroom light on you are in very clear view of the rooms opposite courtyard

This is an amazing place to stay. It was built around 1220 to house the masons building the cathedral. People have literally been sleeping/living here for a thousand years. There are rough hewn beams throughout & even plexiglass protected layers showing how the walls were built & decorated in the past. It's an incredible place to stay for anyone interested in history & a charming place overall.
The mattress was fine. Bedding was great, but the mattress was a little saggy. I'd still stay here again because everything else was so good.

we had a double room for family of 3 and it was very spacious here for a wedding and was so ideal being able to pop back up to room when need be staff were absolutely spectacular in helping in so many ways to meet our needs and requirements
lift not working since covid and not been fixed which was very difficult with a baby in a pushchair as much as the stay was spectacular I found a little over priced as we paid £240 and this was without breakfast but other from that we cannot fault the stay in any way

The room was lovely and the location of the hotel was brilliant and close to everything. The hotel had a really comfy homely feel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I had the afternoon teas there and the server made us feel really relaxed with his friendly nature. There was a lot of variety for the breakfast, especially the hot food section.
The only thing that marred things slightly was that I was unable to get the WIFI in my room but that was the only thing to be honest. The signal did not seem to register on my device.

The staff at this hotel are some of the best I've ever encountered. I had so many difficulties when I arrived including a nosebleed and a waiting taxi service that was pressing for time. They were so accommodating and so helpful.
The hotel's exterior is covered by moss and plants in line with the old English charm the hotel is aiming for. But the plants were also enjoyed by the local inhabitants aka the bugs. There weren't bugs in my room thank god, but I could see it being a problem.
