location and the staff were brilliant

the floors creaked when anyone moved along the corridors, very much overpriced, £160+ for 1 night without breakfast and they then charge you £6.50 to park your car in a car park that was already full with cars for their day conference visitors as well as being part closed off, wouldn’t stay here again simply due to the exorbitant price, if you want value for your hard earned cash, stay somewhere else

Check in and check out were easy with friendly staff. Room and en-suite were clean. The room and the bed were comfortable, nice to have two chairs, everything we needed for a long weekend. Good wi-fi and large TV screen. We liked the view over the roofs

Decided not to have breakfast due to price. Bar and space for evening meal did not look inviting. The bedroom door (230) was very difficult to shut so it was hard to do that quietly. The bottom of the bathroom door rubbed on the tiles making it awkward to open and close - annoying but not important.

Room was a nice size and had access to the balcony. Nice touch having some fizzy drinks placed in the fridge daily. Breakfast was nice and the staff were friendly and competent. Lots of choice and fresh fruit as well. Rooms were cleaned by some very competent staff, all done to perfection.

Getting into bed was like boarding a boat because of the bed frame. Mattress protector seemed to have a life of its own, and the door to the balcony needs a more secure lock. A bit noisy in the mornings and at night because of the road outside, but at least you can wave to the passengers on the upper deck of the buses that stop at the traffic lights outside.

Loved the history and location. Had great soup in bar for dinner. All staff, even cleaners, friendly and helpful.

Shower could have used a non stick bathmat and grab bars. Many of guests, like ourselves, are elderly. Not disabled just old are willing to put up with no elevators and uneven flooring for the historic ambience but a building assessment for limited ability guests probably a good idea. And tiny, tiny parking spots. Cars got bigger and parking spaces got smaller. Would liked to have seen more of the history highlighted. Old photos in the hallways, notable guests, moments in history.

Staff were really friendly helpful and accommodating. The room was well equipped & comfortable. The bed was really comfortable & I had a great nights sleep.

I stayed on a Friday and Saturday. Arriving before 11am and the carpark was already completely full. Which was disappointing. Signage coming out of the carpark would be helpful as a reminder that you are driving into a one way system. My room came with a coffee machine but unfortunately this wasn't working. I didn't have time to ask for assistance & I'm in no doubt that the staff would have tried to rectify this. The bathroom was well stocked and compact. The opening of the bathroom door could be switched to make it easier to get to all the facilities without having to open/close the door.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The location, just a few hundred yards from the cathedral and the close, was magnificent. It was very peaceful.

The room we had was called a 'compact double' so it was small but at the same time it was poorly equipped: nowhere to put two suitcases, no drawers or shelves for clothes (which matters if, as we were, you are staying for a few days). Comfortable double bed but right against the wall so you could only get out from one side.

The staff were fantastic - friendly, helpful and on the ball. Our room - we had an executive one which I think made a big difference. It was big, clean, comfy and had the biggest bed I've ever seen . Good ,modern bathroom. Great bed linen and having robes/slippers make all the difference! Location - perfect for the city centre with easy parking.

A few areas of the hotel were a little tired and the stairs/hall need new carpet. Didn't like paying for their carpark - charge the day shoppers (who don't seem to pay) - not the people who are already paying to stay. The pillows weren't great - very hard and flat.

Room was pretty much spotless, staff were very helpful, breakfast was great quality. Comfortable bed, well heated, very nice bathroom. Disabled toilet is provided on the ground floor.

I requested a bath robe which came slightly dirty - make-up on the collar - but it was an extra thing and I wasn't charged for it. I would also have liked a way to access drinking water in the room, as the bathroom tap wasn't suitable for drinking, however I was supplied with enough water from the bar with no charge.

Great location. Obviously a historic traditional hotel with modern extensions so you may well get inevitably creaky floorboards. Evident efforts to refurbish but what a monstrous job in such a property, good luck with it. Bathroom, linens, bed, pillows all good. Breakfast wanted for nothing… Public rooms still to be accessorised but no shortage of comfortable chairs. Every member of staff did their very best, which was much appreciated. Secondary glazing very effective in our front bedroom facing onto the road.

I realise that having been shut up on and off for months and months over the pandemic, air circulation is tricky but our room did smell musty on arrival. Not sure what could be done about it, decided not to try and open the windows but… still a lot better than some dreadful air fresheners we have encountered which is often worse than the original smell !

The room was delightful, oldie worldie and comfortable. It wasn't too far to walk to room, only 2 flights of stairs and we were there. Very convenient for Salisbury Cathedral and the town in general. Close to good eating places.

The hotel needs a lift!! And the bedrooms are extremely hot in the summer months. The bed moved!!! When sitting up leaning on the wall bedhead, the bed moved forward, we could see any way of locking it!! We were so hot and tired, we didn't get a staff member to sort it for us. The bar area lacks lustre - but staff very pleasant
