FOOD WAS OUTSTANDING Staff were so nice The interior of the actual Hotel was so Cozy/Comfortable RESTAURANT INTERIOR OUTSTANDING We were Lucky with weather so sitting in the Garden was enjoyed Again SO ENJOYABLE

THIS COMMENT Is not a comment to say things were bad AS FAR FROM IT We just felt that for a standard Room the price may of been bit high for what it was And do Hope That a couple of issues with decor are kept on top of before the raiting of room goes down

Lovely room and view in to the hotels garden. Very comfy bed; nice clean room on the whole. Breakfast very good and very hot too. Great area for walks; picture postcard perfect.

poor flush from toilet in room. some small areas of mold in shower. overly warm in the hotel itself. bar drinks quite expensive; nothing that would stop us returning or recommending.

Our room (a junior suite) had great views and was very comfortable. The staff were all really helpful and friendly. We ate in both the bar and the restaurant and also had room service one night and all the food was good. The gardens looked lovely - the weather was cool and damp while we were there, but if it were a lovely summer's day I can imagine sitting out would be great.

The bar can feel a bit cramped as it's small and popular, although there are other areas where we could have sat with our drinks and bar food.

Overall the hotel was excellent, from the staff who are so friendly and helpful The room was amazing, with furniture that suited the hotel, if modern it would not have fitted in to the age of the hotel, there was fresh milk in the fridge, which was a very nice touch. Breakfast was wonderful, we had dinner on our first night, and Sunday whoever was the chef, Thank you , as your cooking is or even better than any London hotels or restaurants Parking unfortunately is a free for all, as walkers do park outside, use the café next to the hotel. Good walking area, so pack your walking shoes and enjoy the freedom Went to Whitby on the train, which was great, as we returned by a steam train, simply amazing to have the experience

We have stayed at the Mallyan Spout several times and it’s easily one of our favourite hotels. The restaurant is excellent along with food served in the bar. We just love returning to the hotel after a day out and just plonking down is the superb lounge areas with a drink from the bar. The. At serves a great selection of beers, wines and spirits. The rooms are very comfortable and the hotel staff are so obliging. The hotel is a short walk away from the setting for the TV programme Heartbeat. Goathland is an ideal place for exploring the North Yorkshire area with so much to see for everyone.

Can not fault the hotel in any area.

The property was lovely , we liked the separate small lounge areas to relax in and the gardens were lovely , we also enjoyed using the separate coffee shop next to the hotel.

On our first night we slept with the window open which over looks the garden and we were woken at 11.30pm with the strong smell of cigarette smoke coming through our window , obviously someone was smoking out beneath our window. We did mention it at reception but the chap did not take much interest in what we said .

Excellent location for the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and the surrounding majestic countryside. Full of character inside and out, with a superb restaurant, as well as plenty of relaxing lounge areas to compliment the bar. Staff attention was exemplary, friendly and efficient. Pleasing bedroom decor, comfort and facilities.

Unfortunately, no lift to the upper floors, but would not have expected one in a hotel of this age and historical design. Superb food portions from the bar menu, but would have liked a "smaller plate option" for the limited appetite guests of our senior age group.

We are not particularly dog lovers so four dogs in the bar wasnt very appealing also the fact that they were allowed on the seating where people would be eating. The evening meal was nicely cooked but the portion size was huge (Pie and chips) The breakfast was nicely presented but the bacon was undercooked and the mushrooms very salty. The bed had a very soft mattress which prevented a good nights sleep

The location was perfect to explore the local area, ideal to pop into Whitby, but far enough away to relax and unwind in this tranquil village. The NYMR stations are close by if you fancy a bit of train spotting. The hotel is beautifully decorated, modern but sympathetically done for the period of the property. The bedroom was clean and spacious, tea/coffee facilities were replenished daily as was the homemade shortbread!!!! Toiletries were provided. During our stay there was a problem with the gas supply so the menu was reduced to accommodate the problem. The meal we had was delicious and the staff were sincerely apologetic for for reduced menu. But this wasn’t a problem as there was plenty of choice. Breakfast was delightful and plentiful, served in the light and airy dining room. On the second morning of our stay I wanted Whitby Kippers but due to the gas issue I was told they were off the menu. The server obviously saw I was disappointed and came back to tell me that a member of staff had popped home to cook them for me. The staff went above and beyond to make our staff a memorable one and we can’t wait to return.

Stunning location, quiet, beautiful, great spot if you want to go walking or visit local places. Set in rolling hills about 10 minutes walk from the village. Only a short car ride to Pickering or Whitby. Very picturesque and there is a pathway down to the Mallyan Spout Waterfall next to the hotel. You can also get the steam train from the village. The food was excellent with fantastic local produce used in dishes both for dinner and breakfast. Great chef! The room was cosy with comfortable bed, lovely pillows and bedding, and a decent shower in the bathroom. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Loved all of it. We paid a good rate so took a smaller room which meant a shower only in the compact bathroom; some people may prefer a bath but it didn’t really bother us. Only slight niggle was the (understandable) little plastic pots of milk for beverages as with most hotels, but as soon as we asked, we were given a jug of fresh milk and extra supplies of tea. So easily fixed and good service.
