Spotless comfortable room at excellent price.Ate there one evening and the food was lovely.

Managed to park but there isn’t actually a car park there despite “free parking “ indicated. It’s free street parking! Two slots by the pub usually taken.

Our experience at the Old Bell was truly memorable. The hotel exudes charm, and Simon, our dedicated server, provided exceptional service throughout our visit. The rooms were beautifully decorated, clean, and comfortable, capturing the historic ambiance of the establishment. The convenient location allowed us to explore the picturesque town of Shrewsbury effortlessly. Simon's attentiveness and helpfulness were outstanding. He made excellent recommendations for nearby restaurants and attractions, ensuring we had a fantastic time. The highlight of our stay was the Sunday roast and dessert served at the Old Bell. The roast was cooked to perfection, with succulent meat and flavorful accompaniments. The dessert was a heavenly treat, indulging our taste buds with its delectable flavors. We highly recommend the Old Bell to anyone visiting Shrewsbury. With its charming ambiance, exceptional service from Simon, and outstanding Sunday roast and dessert, it's an excellent choice for a delightful stay. We can't wait to return in the future.

If there is one small suggestion, it would be to make the beef steak a bit more tender.

Nice spacious room with ensuite bathroom and walk-in closet. Could have done with a desk and stool of some sort, but generally of course the bar would be fine for that. Comfortable bed, if a bit short for long me! Great food, breakfast fine and recommend the chicken and bacon salad, lovely! Nice friendly staff. Good system with the keys. Good late checking out time so no need to rush out early and sit in the train station for ages.

A small desk and stool in the bedroom would have made it possible to do a little work there, out of pub hours

Was staying for one night in a single room at the top of the building Room was perfect for a one night stay for one person. Clean and well equipped. Staff in the pub downstairs were extremely polite and professional. Food was excellent and well priced.

Beds could do with an upgrade. I've stayed here twice now and in both occasions the bed frames were old and noisy. Just need a couple of cheap Ikea type slatted beds to make all the difference. Bedding was spotless though, so a minor compliant, given I stayed just the one night.

There is a separate entrance into the accommodation, but breakfast and other meals were served in the bar. The man that served breakfast and also looked after the accommodation was very friendly, a local, and loved living in Shrewsbury. The location of The Old Bell is great, a short walk to Shrewsbury Abbey, and a 20/25 min walk into the lovely historic town. The Quarry Park is a nice walk along the Severn, and do see The Dingle which is stunning, a mass of flowers and beautiful trees. The Art Gallery and Museum are well worth a look.

Nothing!

The room was great value. A single room but still had space and a big bathroom. Easy access with off and on-road parking nearby. I did not have breakfast as I was out early every day. Even though the rooms are attached to the pub there was no noise. Sainsburys nearby.

The bed was a little soft for my taste and although the bathroom had a shower over the bath, there was no curtain on screen so I had to sit in the bath to have a shower. These were minor niggles that didn't affect my stay or my plans to come back.

The owners and all of the staff are really lovely, friendly and helpful. The room was very very good value for money and has its own entrance. Breakfast was good and the Old Bell is in a great location to explore the area. The pub was great for an evening meal and drinks and clearly popular with locals- always a good sign! The room was quiet and away from the pub and good size TV! Lovely outside space, well maintained with flowers and plants. Easy parking nearby. Thanks for a great stay!

Creaky stairs/ floor haha it made me conscious of other guests but did not affect my stay! Only bath in room, but aware of this at booking and was actually a great en-suite! Lastly, there was a confusion about my breakfast on the last day (which I paid extra for) but to be honest, theres lots of places to eat nearby and as my overall stay was very reasonable it is really not an issue, I know its just a mistake and it wouldn't stop me staying again. Thanks for a great stay!

Good location, car park was full but plenty of close on road parking. Really good value for money. Check in/ out simple. Room was cleaner that alot of chain hotels I've stayed in previously. Bath in bathroom also!

Room was very small and a little dark but for the price really can't complain. Ideal if you just need a base to sleep, but wouldn't want to spend much time in room otherwise. Clean enough and warm. Fab value! Hairdryer in room would have been nice.

Welcoming personal service from friendly staff for a low price. Characterful old building with feature of wooden beams in the room. TV and kettle in room which was overall nice and clean. Great breakfast and staff happy to cater for special diets. Location is very handy for Shirehall, College and Crematorium and not too far from town. A Sainsburys Local and post office nearby.

Located a little too far from town for a short 2-day break. (May be nice to escape the bustle for a longer stay). It was a 20 min walk or so from the train station luggage and there are no buses on Sundays. Getting caught in the rain can spoil otherwise enjoyable trip (so enquire about inexpensive local taxis). The room was slightly draughty despite a powerful heater but as I said, it is an old building.
